  1. I notice you deal with Hua Hin. Reading similar threads about immigration offices charging for this, HH is a stand out. With or without you providing required photocopies etc. Seems HH have a nice little scam in place and can extract 500baht. Nice little earner. Does not surprise me regarding that scam office. They also played games back in covid extension days.
  2. OP, with respect you do not appear to have lived in Thailand at all. The plan you outline is not sensible. Best to rent.
  3. Up to the immigration office. Some come every year. Which immigration office?
  4. If your name on birth certificate you do not require custody. You can obtain 12 month extension to visit Thai child. Obviously first step is to obtain non O based on parent of Thai.
  5. Not getting into details. Yes Phnom Penh is good example of imposing a limit of tv (pre covid seemed common was 2). I was not implying tv from one consulate/embassy ongoing would be possible. He is over 50. If cannot satisfy financials he can use an agent. If that's not possible financially then "hit the road Jack"
  6. The 7 days post due date is for 90 report in person. The OP is using online reporting. Possible up to due date only.
  7. From your earlier post it came across that you only supplied copy of ID page of old pp. There are other pages required. Having said that 500 baht "service fee" is a bit rich. You made a good call.
  8. Why wouldn't you qualify for extension? The other part of your post re maximum tourist visas ..."not more that 90 days in last 6 months " is incorrect
  9. It was a ploy being used prior to covid when Bangkok airports (particularly DMK) were playing "we are relevant and it's up to us" Other airports such as CNX were not refusing entry. That pathway became the go to recommendation. The OP for example should not have problem to enter Thailand visa exempt at Bangkok airports. Trying to do a "border bounce" by air, fly out and return next day or 2 via air visa exempt not a good plan. It's the time out of Thailand between visits seems to be important.
  10. Doubt it. Overlook the email reminder and calculate the 90 day count yourself from date you reentered. Obviously when you do online report change the enter date. Auto fill the rest.
  11. Agree....however immigration has been wild cannon in the past . One example is the covid extensions that were provided and extended again and again and immigration caused unnecessary stress. Pretty par for course As for your comment so many visa exempt entry per year,... Think you are looking at wrong metric. In OP case what is most important factor is how long from last time in Thailand. So that will be one month+ ? He should be fine.
  12. This comes up often. Your chances up country (especially with Thai wife) makes it possible. Other end of the scale is trying to open bank account in Bangkok. Either way an agent is an option. 3-3.5k baht. Avoids waste of time. You don't need the agent for the non O and extension. Just for the bank account. Very quick process.
  13. You certainly can. Be aware that the application for non O needs to be made with 15+ days remaining on you visa exempt entry stamp. Good option. 400k in Thai bank account on day you apply.
  14. Transfer of stamps and visa information is free. Does not stop some immigration offices from extracting baht from you.
  15. Not interested in obtaining a 12 month extension to the non O along with a multiple entry reentry permit?
  16. I cannot state with certainty but I have used a screenshot from Melb to HCMC. Also read reports where a screenshot of onward flight has been accepted.
  17. You should take agent offer of 4k for multiple reentry permit. That is 3800 even if you do it yourself. If you opt to do the reentry permit yourself you would do it at airport on departure. As for single reentry permit (1000baht) you would need to purchase one every time you wish to exit Thailand and reenter. As for transfer of stamps you could travel with both passports till your next extension. Discuss with your agent.
  18. Correct. The office for reentry permit at BKK is zone 2 past security check and prior to passport control. Note at DMK the office is just the other (air side) of passport control. At BKK they offer a service of filling in TM8 and photo. 200baht tip. I prefer to download form and have it pre filled in. Quick service.
  19. Pretty much only reason would be if extensive recent history being in Thailand the the tourist visa might be recommended. Also with the evisa not everyone is comfortable with that. Got some friends coming over soon and suggested enter visa exempt do 45 days in Thailand and then we will spend week or so in Saigon then back to Thailand for another 45 days. Nice offer from Thai gov.
  20. I have read about the ME non O based on retirement. Surprised not more folk don't choose that option. Have never met anyone in person that has one. I believe they may also be available in Savannakhet.
  21. My first years here I never did 90 day reports due to frequent travel and as a result was not able to obtain TDL as a residence certificate was required. Was not until covid subsequently did 90 reports I was able to obtain residence certificate. I tried agents in Bangkok Fatboy's and BSR to "get around" the issue. Both told me impossible. Places like Pattaya may be different.
  22. Agree, should not be an issue however have spoken to couple of chaps doing month on month off and both are being told to "get a visa" . The OP being in Thailand for ~only 2 weeks at a time should (imo) be allowed to used visa exempt entries.
  23. Just found this old thread in "off shore workers" forum. Extensions from non O based on retirement option. Another option would be a non O-A however need to obtain that in own country. Can obtain up to 2 years from a non O-A. Requires insurance. Thinking extensions better option. Only 4 replies
