  1. I'm not sure as well before my time. Years and years back there were far fewer immigration offices and I vaguely recall reference to police stations providing few services. Eg 90 day reports etc. Not any longer.
  2. Was bit of a strange experience for me. I had never done a TM47 for my first 7 years pre covid due to exit/reenter every month. So covid hit and I needed 90 report in person and same visit residence certificate. Both at MTT. For 90 report I had my lease. Not required. The imm officer desk A, just asked that's where I live looking at my lease. I said yes. And done. That was it. Then moved to residence certificate desk B Had some basic copies of pp. She only wanted my TM47. Now of course that's not normal, however my personal experience. Will be funny if/when I go to my condo office and ask for TM30 screenshot as I have been same room for 10 years and never done one.
  3. Looks like I will be up for two trips. Been here for 10 years and I have never even made a TM30. However thanks for checking. My last residence certificate was 2 years ago at MTT and I provided the basic pages of pp. And most important seemed to be my TM47 receipt photocopy. Added note never supplied a TM30 for my extensions. However things change. Previously have never supplied TM47 for extensions retirement however out of the blue last Nov CW wanted one for my annual extension. I don't like immigration offices.
  4. Interested in this list as I need to obtain residence certificate soon for 5 yr TDL. That's a very extensive list and wonder how much was actually provided rather than requested. In particular TM30. Original Non O TM6.
  5. My take on it is that the current extension is based on marriage. If divorce occured then your permission of stay would end. Guessing immigration want to see a genuine change from based on marriage to retirement.
  6. Cash does not need to be baht. Equivalent currency is ok. Bank app, bank book etc not accepted.
  7. Extension based on retirement is 800k+ for TWO months prior to day of application for extension based on retirement. Extensions can be applied for up to 30 days prior to expiry and up to 45days at some offices eg CW, CM etc Note : immigration require your wife to attend with you.
  8. OP, this is not uncommon. Is the savings account same bank as FD account.. pm sent.
  9. Possible but usually photocopies of bank book pages would be sufficient to show requirements were met.
  10. What type of permission of stay do you have. Meaning annual extensions, tourist visa, etc etc. Do you do 90 day reports.
  11. The letter is done on the spot. Just a statement that you own the account and balance. Here is an example.
  12. Spot on post. The OP flew into DMK which has an excellent allocated taxi system. That is meter taxi's. BKK the same.
  13. Did you miss this ..... "As mentioned above....in Bangkok to obtain a certificate of residence a 90 day report needs to have been filed."..... My post was Bangkok specific. OP did not mention where he plans to open his bank account or how he plans to enter Thailand visa wise ...
  14. You obtain from immigration or international airports such as BKK, DMK etc. You need TM8 form and photo. Basic copies of passport pages. Single reentry permit 1000b Multiple 3800b
  15. That may have been possible years ago. The rules are more strict now. As mentioned above....in Bangkok to obtain a certificate of residence a 90 day report needs to have been filed. Obtaining equivalent from his embassy an option but messy, especially if entering on tourist visa or visa exempt.
  16. OP, where are you planning to open the account. Be aware that if it is Bangkok you require a certificate of residence and if entering on a visa exempt or tourist visa that is not possible. Your embassy may provide equivalent but messy. Regards "which bank" pick either Bangkok Bank or Kasikorn. If you opt to use agent to open account they generally charge 4k baht and use Bangkok Bank..
  17. Since you persist then name your immigration office and my guess is that I can point out a difference to that office from another.. There are approx 75 offices. And you start with "totally wrong" More strange than your first post..
  18. Perhaps the funniest/most strange post for today. Immigration offices have their own requirements and sadly some that are just flat out incorrect.
  19. OP, you missed this post from @OJAS.... "Precisely what do you mean by this expression? An application for an annual extension of stay based on marriage? Or for the conversion of a visa-exempt or tourist visa entry into a non-O visa for marriage,...." Answer that question and you will receive more accurate replies.
  20. No worries. Jealous you have son in Thailand. Lucky 18yr old.
  21. My point is that myself along with others suggested options. Obtaining a non O outside of Thailand. If you had engaged and stated that your son would be interested in attending school that perhaps would have also been suggested as an option. Just a guess but most 18 yr olds would not be looking at Non ED. In any event my suggestion is next time you start a thread get involved.
  22. Couple of issues with that. Not all embassies provide that service. Oz embassy being one (no surprise there) Second is that some embassies require an appointment. Given that for some the reason to obtain bank account to facilitate obtaining a Non O ..time is of the essence. In that situation (certainly in Bangkok) 4k to an agent is best option. Note that most agents use Bangkok Bank. That's ok as that bank is one of the only 3 banks that don't have ridiculous small limit in using WISE for transfers.
