  1. The non O-A visa does not require money in Thai bank. For extensions from that non O-A the application would need to show money in bank along with health insurance..
  2. You don't re-new a non O-A. As I've already mentioned that it appears whoever posted requirements of insurance and 800k is obtaining a 12 month extension from a non O-A based on RETIREMENT.
  3. He must have been applying for an extension from a non O-A and based on retirement.
  4. Personally I would have issues flying into places such as Phnom Penh. With Omicron being so highly contagious the result of a positive test in Cambodia and subsequent quarantine etc would be a concern..
  5. You can obtain extension to a non O-A based on marriage buy providing exactly what is required for extension from a non O based on marriage. There would be no reason or requirement to have the 400/40 health insurance. Many married guys with a non O-A have changed from extension based on retirement to based on marriage as a way to avoid the insurance requirement. If not married and wish to avoid the insurance then you need to exit Thailand to kill off the non O-A and then obtain new non O either from outside Thailand or inside..
  6. You can obtain extensions from a Non O-A. Those extensions can be based on retirement or marriage. There is no such thing as a O/A marriage. What they mean is annual extension based on marriage. And including the info that the original visa was a non O-A.
  7. Yes obviously. Also that group clearly chooses not to use an agent to obtain a non O and extension as that pathway also would not require money to be kept in Thai bank.
  8. Apart from it being indicated in passport you would remember an application for a non O-A. It has more requirements that include a medical a police check, your application notorized etc etc.
  9. Because the money is not required to be kept in a Thai bank and they would not need to attend immigration in Thailand. That is a major issue for some folk for various reasons. The non O-A can give a 2 year stay. Despite the cost of the useless insurance it still has appeal to some people.
  10. The answer is no, however I personally had an experience where I was flying Melbourne to Saigon and had a multi entry permit for Vietnam. The problem with airline in Melb (Jetstar) was that my 3 month visa for Vietnam only had 5 days validity. They made me show onward flight to Thailand. I would not be concerned however would go to departure airport with enough time to buy throw away or "rent a flight" if ran into an issue.
  11. Good post....just to add in case anyone not aware. If your extentions are from a non O-A and you happen to be married then changing from extension based on retirement to based on marriage would mean the useless insurance is not required.
  12. Yes. You can make a new booking. From memory think you proceed as if your making a booking. At some point the system recognizes that you have an appointment and message appears that basically asks if you want to proceed. Accept and then make new booking. This advice is based on the previous appointment system at CW.
  13. Were you also required to purchase the 400/40k insurance that is required for the non O-A folk? BTW think for the 50k covid insurance requirement you may have be able to obtain a 30 day policy. You mentioned "Outside application is actually a NON OA?" You can obtain both a non O-A and non O retirement in the UK. You can also obtain non O retirement inside Thailand but can only obtain the non O-A in home country or country where you are a permanent resident.
  14. If you plan to exit prior to end of your current permission of stay. Then your return in October could (hopefully) be a completely different landscape. An METV could be an option or even as previously mentioned a tourist visa with couple of border runs would be enough. Keep in mind that you can do 2 visa exempt border entries per calendar year. Be aware that every entry by tourist visa and visa exempt can be extended by 30 days. That is also the case with the METV. Each entry gives 60 day permit but can be extended by 30 days. You can weigh up your options much later this year.
  15. If land borders were open the an METV is an option. Personally I would avoid a STV but it does not require to exit Thailand so that's a plus. I can understand that if only in Thailand for 6 months then the financial requirement of money in Thai bank for retirement is not attractive. When land borders open then that's a game changer and you have more options. Many folk enjoy a visa run and can be nice break. Easy to obtain 6 months in Thailand with a tourist visa entry and couple of border runs. (in future when borders open)
  16. Folks will report that they opened bank account on tourist visa and visa exempt....however it does take some running around. Common question will be "where is your work permit" catch 22 when your doing it to obtain non O retirement. I tested this out with Bangkok Bank and they wanted something from my embassy. Most likely a statement regarding address. They also wanted from my Oz bank. Ridiculous. In Bangkok you can obtain a residence certificate however that requires to have made a 90 day report. I found Kasikorn helpful however I had previous non O and currently on extensions. With a visa exempt entry and time of the essence, I suggest the use of agent to assist with opening Bank Account. Siam Legal is just one example.
  17. You can send swift or whatever you want. Attached is screenshot of Wise transfer quote I just did now. For comparison purposes. Current issue with Kasikorn for wise transfers but the quote serves as base comparison. As far as FFT code you can ✅ last reason for transfer. If it ends up Thai bank to Thai bank transfer you can obtain information from Thai bank that it was international transfer.
  18. No problem.. Also you have the bank account in place so just enter visa exempt as you outlined. Then followed by the non O retirement and finally 12 month extension. No issue.
  19. With my mail in reports, I notice that they don't actually count 90 days. Rather they just count the months.
  20. Im on retirement extensions. The rules for money in bank method changed few years back. I just met the new requirements. Didn't moan about it.
  21. For extensions based on marriage using money in bank method, the requirement is 400k in bank for 2 months prior to application. Also (advise) to maintain during the under consideration period. So in effect approx 3 months. After that the money can be used as you wish. Even withdraw total amount.
  22. Just again to underline the need to have a bank account in position. With a 30 day reentry you need to obtain the non O quickly. It requires 800k baht in bank account on day of application. That non O gives you a 90 day stay. In the last 30 days of that permission you will obtain 12 month extension. On the day you apply the 800k would need to be in bank for 2 months.. No insurance required for the non O or the extension. You will need to show the 800k for the non O came from overseas. Note: if more time is required you can obtain a 30 day extension to your visa exempt entry.
  23. You can return with visa exempt entry. You can then obtain a Non O retirement in Thailand. You then obtain an extension. The only insurance you would require is 50k covid insurance for 30 day cover. You would not require insurance for the non O or the extension. Do not obtain a Non O-A in your home country. That requires ongoing rubbish insurance. The non O and subsequent extension have financial requirements. Do you have a Thai bank account. That's your first requirement to obtain.
