  1. No doubt there are many stupid requirements. Think 90 day reporting near top of the tree. BTW...with online not working for me I have become very familiar with mail in. One nice thing CW does is to return my pp photocopies and new TM47 form. I fill it in straight away dated and signed and wait for the 15 day window to come around to post. Stupid but not difficult. The change to the TM30 was a welcome one.
  2. Certainly those doing extensions from a non O-A have been shafted. Might be incorrect but I think Phuket imm does not insist on the nonsense insurance. Personally don't think it was intended for those that had a non O-A pre dating that requirement. Stinks. As for married vs retirement the financials should be exactly the same.
  3. The OP specifically mentioned annual extensions and related matters. Nothing of change in general life (BTW that occurs everywhere)
  4. Detailed list please. Yes we know the major ones of insurance for extensions from a non O-A and money in bank requirement for extensions RT. And the "LOT has changed" would be .......
  5. Interesting mind set. I would suggest my 10 yr live together relationship along with purchase of property etc stacks up as "ties to Thailand" against any married chap.
  6. I agree.... Also while I'm at it the financial requirements difference between retirement and marriage is ridiculous to say the least. I'm in a 10 yr relationship (not married) ......if I was single I would need to donate to a charity as cost of living would drop so dramatically. A married guy puts 200k (Edit: typo meant 400k as pointed out by UJ later) in bank for couple of months and us retired suckers maintain much higher amount all year. Rubbish.
  7. For extensions from a non O-A based on retirement a requirement is 40/400 medical insurance from Thai company. However extensions from non O-A based on marriage do not require this insurance. Pointed out by @tonray For those not married the only solution to avoid this nonsense insurance is to kill off the non O-A and obtain a non O. That cannot be done inside Thailand.
  8. It's possible but time is the issue. Your 30 day visa exempt along with 30 day extension would be tight. Most likely you don't have a Thai bank account however an agent could assist with that. To obtain the non O in Thailand you would need the 400k in Thai bank. Being from Canada you are able to obtain embassy letter to make income method possible. Personally thinking that most of your 'issues' with the setv can be sorted. That being the case it's probably best to obtain the tourist visa. If marriage goes ahead you can obtain the non O with a tourist visa entry or visa exempt entry. Also keep eye on covid extension situation. Due to end Nov 27 however many think that they will be continued. Would bring visa exempt entry back into consideration.
  9. Agreed, however (most likely mentioned often in the thread) it's an issue and unfair for some. For example I just renewed my annual extension this week and if I went back to Oz to visit my family then my return I would be stamped in for ~10-11 months which would require a years insurance coverage. Have no idea of that cost so could be a small or large consideration.
  10. Read post from @asiaexpat That is correct info regarding insurance. Not length of stay.
  11. That's your answer to how things are unpredictable each year according to you? Try point form to list all these changes.
  12. Rather than random dreams... Post exactly what is "unpredictable annual song and dance"..... My annual extensions are consistent. Very simple and personally I find it painless.
  13. Flight out for covid extension is not required. "If not required what should someone do or say if officer tells that you need?" Place the affidavit on table and tick the box. https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=727659
  14. Two words Ben Stokes. Just in case you have forgotten. ..google Ben Stokes CTV Absolute thug and yes missed the ashes at the time. I'm no fan of De Goey... fact is only charge left is assault based. Not convicted at this point.
  15. Your setv gives 60. It can be extended by 30 You can obtain 60 day extension to visit wife = 5 months. Personally I would get the non O and the 60 to visit wife. 90+ 60. Depending on ongoing plan you could do the 12 month extension to the non O (only needs 400k in bank for 2 months). Buy a reentry permit and with correct timing next visit easy.
  16. Agents are an option that's well know and if suits someone then fine. Here is link to my report of annual extension done Tuesday. You won't read it but it outlines how simple extensions are.
  17. A ray of reality from @KhunLA Glad I'm not the only one that finds it all so simple and easy.
  18. Think you mean "extension issue". No issue for me using money in bank method for retirement. Very simple. Once a year. Not difficult. TM39 (think you mean TM30) along with 90 report is minor. I have never done a TM30 in 10 years of living here and as for 90 report, I use mail. Alternative as you suggest is agent. I never understand what all the fuss and complaints are about.
  19. List the changes. Skip the change to money in bank requirement. Not huge hurdle. And the others are? I did annual extension this week. Keep 800k in Thai bank all year. Bank letter. Few photocopies of passport pages. Pretty much all I needed to provide. Walk in the park.
  20. Are you referring to reentry permit for an extension. The reentry permit expiry date is same as current extension "admitted untill date" If entering thailand with a reentry permit your insurance must cover up to expiry date. Any exit flight is irrelevant to length of required insurance coverage.
  21. Tourist Visa and 30 day extension simple option. How old is he and which country. If 50+ he could obtain a non O RT which would give him 90 day permission of stay.
  22. Snap...I was planning on going back for a month in Feb also. However the current thread in this forum about obtaining Thailand Pass is already 40 pages long and not a happy read. Hopefully the issues will be worked out soon. Not fun for folk trying to enter Thailand in next few weeks.
