Taking the plunge
DrJack54 replied to Padthaigoong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Complete nonsense. What is important is to use a well know company. From the OP...... "I am planning to go and see a well known agent ....." -
Taking the plunge
DrJack54 replied to Padthaigoong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The first hit if using agent will be approx 30k which is for the non O and extention. Every year from then will be approx 15k per extension. Obviously you require a reentry permit. -
Onward flight unpopular forum opinion
DrJack54 replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not brilliant at all. In fact if you read every post in the thread ...the op has realized his personal experience counts for very little. There currently is another thread outlining the issue. The OP is serial poster on this topic. Due to so many counter posts in this thread hopefully will cease bad advice. -
O retirement visa 800k seasoning
DrJack54 replied to Adelphi's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. It needs to be back up to 800k two months prior to day of application. Has nothing to do with expiry of your permission of stay. -
Extension of Stay based upon Marriage
DrJack54 replied to spetersen's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Where do you live. That often is part of choosing agent -
My guess is this (ridiculous) thread will implode very soon. Better suited to general chat forum.

Didn't know that was an option.

Don't know how you do it Sheryl. Great memory. Yes I'm on anticoagulant due to previous two DVT and one PE. That was 5+ years ago. This blowout has certainly set me back few steps. Also now have numbness in genitals and general region. Just posting this to make people aware that sometimes we have setbacks. Hospital yesterday and they booked a MRI for Monday. Have decided to push that till I'm back in Oz November 18. Having said that my sister works in health and has advised that the wait times even for appointments with GP has grown significantly. Mention this for any Oz folk thinking that they can nip back to Australia for various treatments.

Plan you outline is fine. Since you are not married you need to tick the boxes as being the father. Obviously on birth certificate etc. The border entries you outline will work no issue.. You would obtain the extensions at immigration office where you are living.. You have your reasons re not going the marriage option. As you would be aware that is very simple way to obtain non O based on marriage in Thailand or ME Non O from Savannakhet.

Almost refused entry at Suvarnabhumi
DrJack54 replied to PattayaKevin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
True. And in your first post you stated the following..... "I continued using a Non O after a divorce until it expired and never had any problems." If you had stated "I continued using a ME Non O ......." I would have known that you had a 12 month visa. In that case divorce does not cause an issue. -
Thanks for asking.... I am flying to Oz on November 18 . Already had to cancel one trip. As I mentioned in a thread I started some time back... Setbacks happen. In my case they said that I overdid it. Not sure about that.

90 day report question
DrJack54 replied to ASEANTraveler's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You cannot do your 90 day report in person just anywhere. Must be done at office where you live. However you can do the report via mail or online from anywhere in Thailand. -
Extend visa in arrival only once?
DrJack54 replied to Kammie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct. You can obtain one 30 day extension per entry to Thailand. Your border bounce provides a new entry. -
Onward flight unpopular forum opinion
DrJack54 replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If flying with a visa or reentry permit the airline at departure will NOT ask to see onward flight. If presenting with intention to enter Thailand visa exempt the airline MAY request to see onward flight.. On arrival in Thailand it would be rare for immigration to ask to see onward flight even if entering visa exempt. That is fact. -

Completely different. Your posts where incorrect. Hence the emoji and subsequent ignore. BTW read that thread. Several tried to point out your errors. -

Why quote slabs from particular airlines. As per the above quote. MANY airlines do not offer online check in for international routes. In November I fly Oz and back with Jetstar. No online check in is possible. Just one example...AirAsia. For flights Vietnam to Thailand there is no online check in. Check in is counter only and opens 2 hours prior to flight. BTW you will be asked for onward flight without visa or reentry permit for that route. Stick with same airline...even when kiosk check is available eg Bangkok to Vietnam and you obtain boarding pass.. That is checked again for visa at boarding gate. I can go on. Your posts above are naive and then you go back through thread and laugh emoji on my threads. Fine. -
follow up to my evisa question
DrJack54 replied to dlvinthai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Find your post unusual. BTW you were cleared to enter after 10 minutes. Perhaps the initial io was inexperienced and subsequent checks is more about saving face for first io. Throw away line you made as follows... "At one time, a thai immigration police general (at least that's what I thought he was from the fruit salad on his shoulders)". Speaks volumes. -

A ME non O marriage visa valid for one year is very different to a 12 month extension from a non O. -
Latest Date to Renew Extension of Stay
DrJack54 replied to Ludlow's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just for others reading... You most likely could obtain your extension couple of days after expiry. You would pay overstay and have your extension processed. However that would completely be in the hands of immigration office so no guarantees. -

Do nothing just exit. Not required in the situation you describe
