The visa is valid for 90 days and he needs to enter prior to it's expiry Dec 27. When he enters the visa is stamped 'used' and he will be stamped in with 60 day permission of stay. He can obtain a 30 day extension to that. Does not need a reason.

The uniform application of the Laws of Thailand.
DrJack54 replied to fgmr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, silly thread. Have a Google of drinking age in the various states of USA. One result will show you interactive map. So many different regulations. -
Disregard the 43 days. (IMO) You will be stamped in for 60 days. You must enter Thailand prior to Dec 27

TM30. When do you need to do?
DrJack54 replied to Gee Bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's correct. Previously you were technically suppose to do a TM30 for even inter province stays. Now not required and even for international travel. Obviously this is for folk with an address in Thailand, such as yourself. -
Along with your earlier post this has little to do with the OP. Re Live music in bars of an evening with no booze. There may be coupe risk it...vast majority not. Attached is pic from hour ago Japanese restaurant in Asoke with some drinks. Of course that's going on. Also some posts from others regarding Phuket. Has zip to do with Bangkok etc. They have 'special exemption' it would seem.

CCSA is just playing a big game. We have nice restaurant with live music few doors up. It's not small. Spoke to Thai manager on Friday. Wanted to show support and go there. His reply...."We will not open untill closing is minimum 11pm and can serve alcohol". The whole thing is a joke.

Thailand's 'draconian' alcohol laws in the spotlight
DrJack54 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Can't call Thai alcohol laws draconian if in the USA you can join the military at 17 and can't buy booze untill 21. Now that's seriously crazy. -
TM30. When do you need to do?
DrJack54 replied to Gee Bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
TM30 required for change of address only. You live in Thailand and returning to address that you used for extension etc. Do nothing. -
Non O based on retirement
DrJack54 replied to Leonard Desharnais's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I thought that also as the OP posted the following.... . "The Mrs and I have been together for 9 years" Turns out he isn't married and mentioned that later on. As this stage retirement is his only option. -
Returning Aussie Visa requirements

No. The foreign source is for the non O only. For extensions that's not required -
Non O based on retirement
DrJack54 replied to Leonard Desharnais's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One thing that surprises me with the married guys is that many use income method. Guess many have "pensions" and suits them. The 400k in the bank for only 2 months (+ under consideration period) seems a nice option to me. I would import 400k prior to Extension and just live off the funds after extension granted. No proof of income deposits and bank statements etc. Guess folk do what best suits there situation. -

Furthermore the 800k in bank on day of application for non O retirement will also need to be shown as coming from overseas. -
Non O based on retirement
DrJack54 replied to Leonard Desharnais's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Indeed...saw your positive post about your experience KK. Good to see positive experience. Mine is extensions based on retirement at CW. I find the immigration officers fantastic. Not an easy job but I give them huge tick. -
Thailand reports 11,375 new COVID-19 cases and 87 deaths
DrJack54 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Realize most likely been previously asked..... So with the Rapid tests how do other countries deal with these. For example the chart that @anchadian posts each day with cases/deaths etc from ASEAN countries how to compare. So today's chart shows Thailand 11,744 and Vietnam 6,957. Does Vietnam also not count it's Rapid test results. I'm aware that some of the Rapid tests for Thailand may be subsequently included. -
Non O based on retirement
DrJack54 replied to Leonard Desharnais's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are not wrong. An agent can do very little if your actually having the money in bank etc. The requirements for the non O and extension are very straightforward. The hurdle for some folk is the funds in bank requirement. -
Returning Aussie Visa requirements
DrJack54 replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes can do as you have outlined. Indeed pre covid I was flying out of Thailand and back more than once a month for years. Airports and airlines can vary. I can assure you many airlines will require an onward flight or look for visa, reentry permit etc to Thailand. My last flight x Melbourne to Saigon was with Jetstar. I had a visa for Vietnam albeit only had few days till expiry. My plan was few days in Vietnam the back home to Thailand (with reentry permit). The check in was not satisfied. Wanted to see my flight out of Vietnam (due to that visa having only 5 days left). She was over stepping her rank but was the one in control for boarding pass issue. I had an onward flight and showed screenshot. I suggest that you have been fortunate. -
Only a guess but thinking perhaps your friend does not have a Thai bank account. These are more difficult to open now and time wise perhaps best to use agent. Meaning just for the bank account. Obtaining the non O and 12 month extension is not difficult. In the future (after marriage) he could obtain his future extensions based on married to Thai. The financials far more simple.

Don't forget your onward flight required with your visa exempt.
