Latest Date to Renew Extension of Stay
DrJack54 replied to Ludlow's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes However really good idea to have a minimum of day or two up your sleeve for obscure requirement from immigration. Example request of bank statements even though bank book pages photocopies acceptable in the past ....is example of curve ball. -
Onward flight unpopular forum opinion
DrJack54 replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes yes your continual posting on this topic and even now starting a thread is based on YOUR experience. If I recall correctly you do not fly Jetstar from Oz. In any event the advice posted by many is basically that it does occur (requirement for onward flight), even though not in your personal experience. -
Onward flight unpopular forum opinion

Who cares. It does occur. Seems more common with low cost airlines and even moreso with flights from nearby countries such as Vietnam etc.- 114 replies

Onward flight unpopular forum opinion

That's correct. If asked for onward flight it would be from the airline at departure not immigration upon arrival. That would only occur flying without visa or reentry permit. -
Latest Date to Renew Extension of Stay
DrJack54 replied to Ludlow's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can apply for extension up till date of expiry of permission of stay. When timing is not an issue most do it some weeks prior to expiry in case extra docs required. -
Retirement v Marriage Visa
DrJack54 replied to Kevin1908's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
With an extension based on marriage or retirement you would require a reentry permit. Suggest you obtain at your immigration office or airport. 1000baht single and 3800b multi. TM8 form with photo and some basic photocopies from pp. -
60 day extension to visit wife
DrJack54 replied to DrJoy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's disappointing. Which immigration office? -
Nonthaburi immigration bad impression
DrJack54 replied to agg211's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Years gone by had a reputation as being difficult however that seemed to have changed. Be aware that if you wish to deal with another office you would require a TM30 change of address. You need to deal with the office where you live.. CW is good and very professional. -
Just to add..... Personally I have never read or even heard of the application being accepted by local immigration then later to be rejected. I guess it has happened but rare as hens teeth. OP , all is good. Just now organize for your 12 month extension that you can apply for with the funds having been in the bank for 2 months+ on the day you apply.

exempt to Non-O retirement in Pattaya
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes you can your visa exempt by 30 days . 1900baht. The bank letter you also asked about is issued on the spot. Best to do that on day of application for the non O . -
Almost refused entry at Suvarnabhumi
DrJack54 replied to PattayaKevin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I will type it one more time. The day you get divorced your permission of stay ends. I also mentioned that immigration is not notified so people could just remain on their current extension. Usually to then change to based on retirement for next extension the wife would be required at the time of the extension even though you are changing to based on retirement. -

DrJack54 replied to PattayaKevin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It's not incorrect. True you can change what the non O is based on. In your example from marriage to retirement. That would need to be done when the divorce is finalized. Also naturally you would need to qualify for retirement. -
From other threads of OP can assume stay based on marriage no longer an option. As for ME Non O marriage the 90 days that can extended by 60 days to visit wife. On an aside I would suggest anyone planning on obtaining that ME visa at HCMC to check latest reports re availability. It does appears on website. Had a pm of only non O single currently available. Cannot confirm.

The onward flight that may be required by airline if flying without visa has easy "rent onward flight" option. ~$14 You would not need anything from wife. Since your plan is a 59 day stay your options are tourist visa or visa exempt entry + 30 day extension. Just be aware that in future trips you have many options being married. Tourist Visa. Non O marriage Visa exempt+ extension (both 30 day extension and 60 day extension to visit wife) 1900baht. .......

Don't base your visit around that. How long would you like to stay. There are many options and often best is determined desired length of stay.

Assume that you will be applying for extension. As mentioned by others don't apply close to Nov 11. Do it early (up to 30 days) Assume that you have organized financials. If using money in bank method the funds will need to have been in bank account for 2 months on the day you apply for 12 month extension.
