All the years I have been residing in Thailand, I've never seem a checkpoint. Are they only set up at certain places and times? Some of these posts do make me laugh.

The Cabinet has approved in principle the Department of Social Development and Welfare's proposal to increase the monthly pension for seniors: from 600 baht to 700 baht for those aged 60-69, from 700 baht to 850 baht for those aged 70-79, from 800 baht to 1,000 baht for those aged 80-89, and from 1,000 baht to 1,250 baht for those aged 90 and above. Not going through all these posts looking for it. Has anyone considered transferring gift(s) to your wife or girlfriend? Up ro 20 million in a tax year is tax exempt for relatives and up to 10 million a year again is tax exempt for non-relatives on the understanding that you do not gain any benefit and it is solely not for living expenses. This would work in my case as my girlfriend has a job and she has told me on several occasions not to give her any money, but I do anyway (her savings account is very healthy). Apologies if already discussed previously.
