Electric Vehicles in Thailand
JBChiangRai replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I wonder when we will start to see 12v Lead-Acid car batteries replaced with Lithium types. A friend of mine died in a motorbike accident and he was selling 12v Lithium batteries for scooters and big bikes, my two daughters have his batteries in a Ninja 400 and Honda Scoopy. The batteries have a built in BMS and are basically, fit & forget. -

I'm not convinced you could put baked beans in the same risk category. Yes smack, probably alcohol, but we can't deflect and say because of alcohol it's ok for cannabis. For sure alcohol is number 1 for anti-social behaviour. -

Is it better to change money to VND in SVB or Vietnam? Or is Thai baht or US$ worth taking?

I am not sure they will come, the salespeople at MG know nothing about the product. The sales manager said she expects the X Power to come, as for the other big battery variants, I don't know. One area of concern is battery chemistry, current MG4 is LFP, UK long range cars are NMC which only get's half the charge/discharge cycles. NMC is not ideal for Thiland's heat, it's ok, you just to have live with the knowledge. The Cyberster is definitely coming 2nd half of next year. -

Going off the Seal pricing, the MG4 X Power should be about 274k more than the standard, that would be 1,243,000 if old price and 1,143,000 if new price. -

I am tempted to order the Performance version, the only thing stopping me is common sense, I know I should wait until I know how much the Cyberster is next year. If it's silly money, this Seal is at the top of my list. Eldest daughter wants my MG4 so I will be getting back her MG EP+ which is probably worth keeping for rainy days unless my youngest daughter wants it. -

Illusion, scouring, desperately, baseless, targeting, rubbish, trolling Are you incapable of putting forward your arguments without the support of real facts, instead resorting to egregious superlatives as if that makes your argument more convincing? ”deliberately targeting pro cannabis threads” please tell me how a thread about walking back recreational cannabis use is pro cannabis? I live in the real world, you should try it and following government advice might help you too, as might believing research by respected scientific bodies. -

Have you checked it yet? I’m fairly convinced at 600 baht that it’s a scam.

Do you mean every car plugging in? or every EV plugging in? The former is impossible, the latter is probably but eminently possible.

Try formatting it or reading back your data. There are a lot of high capacity SSD's out there that "appear" to have a large capacity, but in reality throw away the data. They have a chip on board specifically to enable the scam.

So that makes marijuana ok then? Marijuana might have a few more problems..... Approximately 1 in 10 people who use marijuana will become addicted. When they start before age 18, the rate of addiction rises to 1 in 6. Marijuana Risks Marijuana use can have negative and long-term effects: Brain health: Marijuana can cause permanent IQ loss of as much as 8 points when people start using it at a young age. These IQ points do not come back, even after quitting marijuana. Mental health: Studies link marijuana use to depression, anxiety, suicide planning, and psychotic episodes. It is not known, however, if marijuana use is the cause of these conditions. Athletic Performance: Research shows that marijuana affects timing, movement, and coordination, which can harm athletic performance. Driving: People who drive under the influence of marijuana can experience dangerous effects: slower reactions, lane weaving, decreased coordination, and difficulty reacting to signals and sounds on the road. Baby’s health and development: Marijuana use during pregnancy may cause fetal growth restriction, premature birth, stillbirth, and problems with brain development, resulting in hyperactivity and poor cognitive function. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other chemicals from marijuana can also be passed from a mother to her baby through breast milk, further impacting a child’s healthy development. Daily life: Using marijuana can affect performance and how well people do in life. Research shows that people who use marijuana are more likely to have relationship problems, worse educational outcomes, lower career achievement, and reduced life satisfaction. Adopting a child -just how difficult is it?
JBChiangRai replied to Deserted's topic in Family and Children
We recently finished the process of adopting my eldest daughter (20). I needed to get a PDF email copy of my divorce certificate from the UK Court that handled it and made an appointment at the British Embassy in Bangkok where I made a statutory declaration that I hadn't remarried. That stat. dec. was then translated and certified locally into Thai and we took it to the "Legalisation Dept" at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chiang Mai for them to "improve" it. This means they stick a QR code on it. They rejected the translation and so we had to get it translated again in Chiang Mai. Back to the Ampur in Chiang Rai and the process was completed, my daughter was asked if she wanted to take my name. Like everything in Thailand, the process is arduous and a PITA, probably a dozen different visits overall. -
New public health minister walks back ‘recreational’ cannabis
JBChiangRai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You can't say pot harms nobody, it harms some people predisposed towards mental illness. It harms developing brains. I don't think they need to close shops, shopkeepers can do that themselves if they can't make a profit in an amended market where recreational use is forbidden. Why should the government pay up? Anutin said recreational use was forbidden, so the weed shops build their whole business model with an incredible threat hanging over them, they made a risky decision and it looks like it won't pay off. No sensible businessman would have opened a weed shop with Anutin's warning, it should have stopped at the SWOT analysis in the business planning stage. But yes I agree, the government is responsible for creating the debacle but the weed shops and growers are accountable for the risk they knowingly took. -

Yet he said in June 2022 as he legalised it... "Thai Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he expected legal cannabis production to boost the economy but cautioned that recreational use of the drug remains illegal. “It’s a no,” said Anutin, who is also a deputy prime minister. “We still have regulations under the law that control the consumption, smoking or use of cannabis products in non-productive ways.”" -

They make getting the prescriptions easy peasey in which case the shops can all stay open and fight each other for market share. As you say, no regular pot user will stop, maybe they can't stop...
