  1. Security starts at the top Put Thaksin back in jail first.
  2. I had a huge problem with a Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3.2, it destroyed batteries every 12 months. On test at the dealership it wasn't charging the battery properly. They sent up an expert from Ford in Bangkok who said it was a "feature", they tried to keep the battery 70% charged only because of heat in Thailand. I am in favour of planned replacement of 12v batteries every 2-3 years. I changed the battery on my youngest daughter's Suzuki Ciaz at 3 years old just before she left for 1st year University.
  3. It's hard to argue with Economics, and also Legislation...
  4. It looks like the EU Car Manufacturers are having some success lobbying the EU to save their industries. Consumers may have to pay more for their Chinese EV's. Brussels launches fightback against cheap Chinese electric cars flooding Europe (msn.com)
  5. I have watched most of the Top Gear / Grand Tour episodes, I consider myself a car nut and have owned lots of exotic cars. That is one of the reasons I bought an EV. The speed of a supercar but the refinement of a Rolls Royce and unparalleled value for money. What is the problem with MG displaying wrong mileages? China is making inroads into European and Asian markets, unless legislated against, it's going to happen in America too. I read somewhere that German manufacturers are claiming they can't compete on both price & quality. IMHO, the Chinese car manufacturers have migrated from low cost, low quality to low cost, high quality. Time will tell. Our 2 MG EV's are the first new cars I have ever had not needing warranty work (yet).
  6. What was the mobile phone number? I need to buy a lottery ticket ASAP!
  7. We agree on that.
  8. There are dozens of battery recycling plants in Thailand, none of them currently handle lithium batteries simply because there is no demand. Many of them I am sure will transition to providing recycling for lithium batteries as demand increases, until that time, they are sent overseas. Thai regulations prevent any batteries from going into landfill.
  9. Too new to need recycling yet
  10. You just don't get it, Thailand has a superb charging network whilst on the move. Who knows if they can keep pace with EV sales, I hope so, but nobody knows. Heading to Chiang Mai tomorrow & back Monday, probably won't get to Tesco's this trip.
  11. ISO standards is deflecting, what's important is the hands on knowledge and experience of dealing with fires, however, I am sure most if not all battery packs conform to ISO 26262 (The safety standard for automotives containing lithium based battery packs). It's true that EV owners often wax lyrical about their EV's because they have experience, whereas the anti-EV brigade haven't been converted and preach mostly from ignorance.
  12. My daughters & I take 5 pills every 12 months specifically because of this and other foods (eg undercooked pork, prawns etc).
  13. And the reply was..... "We can't do that, we would have to return his money"
  14. I wouldn't describe him as ignorant, he has hands on practical experience as a Superintendent in the Fire and Rescue Service in NSW, one could argue his experience is more evidential & cumulative than a scientific or engineering theorist. As for being a fool, I couldn't leap to that conclusion on his experience-based opinion being different from my theoretical one. Having a different opinion doesn't make one a fool.
  15. Nobody will want to fly long distance in a slow propeller aircraft, why not convert a Jet Engine to run on Hydrogen. Cryogenic liquid Hydrogen is the way to go though.
  16. Not applicable to Thailand where Electricity is *MUCH* cheaper than the UK.
  17. Odd, an EV battery not in an EV, I wonder what they did to it to make it catch fire
  18. Which is slightly cheaper than the cost of the tyres on my last EV (6.67 baht/km).
  19. Do you have an overactive imagination?
  20. If you are not Thai, then you cannot use PayPal here.
  21. You had a lucky escape. The reason they are disassembled into parts and brought into Thailand in separate containers is to reduce the tax to parts only (something like 20%). The difficulty comes in registering the new assembled vehicle. Not only would you have had no warranty, you would have had a car where the import taxes had not been correctly paid, probably registered illegally with an accomplice in DLT.
  22. Buying through the "grey" channel is always risky, not least with servicing, warranty and parts availability. I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla won't even service grey imports and for sure they won't honour any warranty claim (how could they when they haven't serviced it from new). Everyone who bought a Tesla 3/Y before Tesla opened here is going to lose big bucks. I am surprised people continue to buy expensive cars like Porsche's through the grey channel when there is an authorised distributor here. There is a huge risk they haven't paid the correct taxes and you could lose the car. I remember the transporter in Esan with all the supercars that went up in smoke and nobody would claim them because the scam was buying or stealing them in the UK, disassembling them, shipping them in separate containers, importing them in parts, assembling them, installing LPG, registering them and then removing the LPG.
  23. Being in my 60's, I would never take Testosterone because of the increased risk of Prostate Cancer. There are lots of risks with taking it, there's a chart below but the most significant is Prostate Cancer.
  24. Up to 120 million tons of Lithium found in USA extinct volcano - enough for decades Volcano discovery could power electric cars for decades, scientists say (msn.com)
