I wouldn’t disagree with you, I had Accenture as a client of my company, I wasn’t impressed. But I do agree with McKinsey on Hydrogen, and apparently Shell do too. It’s just too expensive and inefficient for motor cars and an inferior solution to BEV, it’s been tried and customers voted BEV. I can’t see any possible change in technology to change that.

The UK has a superb electrified train network between all major cities. Branch lines were diesel-electric when I last noticed about 20 years ago. The best way to generate Hydrogen is electrolysis with renewables. If the wind doesn’t blow or the sun doesn’t shine, then it doesn’t matter there’s always tomorrow In generating hydrogen this way you have to acknowledge that the process is inefficient so it’s only really suitable for those means of transport where battery electric is not feasible. You can’t put batteries in trains, for example.

The long-term solution for trains is to electrify them with overhead rails. I do think hydrogen has a place for long haul freight transport, but it’s not really suitable for cars.

All vehicles have to stop if someone is on the crossing, the fine is 4,000 baht. Part of the problem is pedestrians, they stand on the crossing meekly for minutes waiting for traffic to stop and it never does. Pedestrians need to be much more assertive but careful. I regularly cross 2 zebra crossings when going to hospital appointments. Many is the time I stride past people standing meekly waiting for traffic to stop and in the process forcing drivers to brake sharply. I’m always ready to jump if they don’t stop. Learned behaviour is the problem here.

I haven’t checked how well the TCL units seal the logic board from gecko ingress, but we haven’t had any kind of fault on any of them. I particularly like that after a power cut or brief interruption, they just work. Mitsubishi are the same but with Fujitsu, Carrier and Daikin I get phone calls asking how to reset them. TCL do an internet connected unit too, we haven’t tried any of them.
