  1. I think that would invalidate the warranty
  2. I lost my mother to dementia (Alzheimer's) too, but I agree with Ricky Gervais, no subject is taboo for humour, people confuse the subject of the joke with the target.
  3. Wasn't the electric viking saying that EV/PHEV had a 55% market share in China now?
  4. The other way is to amortise the cost over it (or your) life expectancy.
  5. The reality is I save loads of time by not having to fill up at petrol stations. I wake up to a full tank of electrons. I can plug my car in the road and walk straight to the coffee shop and when I've finished my coffee the car will have enough charge for another 3-400km, maybe 500km. The only time I have ever wasted charging up was at the BYD showroom where I wanted to test the free charging.
  6. I think you should test drive a BYD Seal Performance and a Honda Accord. You will probably be astounded. If you're just going on major highways, you won't have an issue with charging stations and if you're going into the backwoods, just charge up before you do. Most hotels now have a charging point too. I have occasionally gone to Sukhothai and was surprised last week to find the hotels I normally use all have charging points. Charging on the road is probably never going to be more than 30 minutes, and overnight charging is never 0-100%, so realistically 6 or 7 hours maximum. It's really a non-issue.
  7. When I first got an EV I did worry about range acxiety. Then I made a point of looking for charging stations and I was astounded. The other issue people who don't have an EV think about is lack of charging stations where they live. The reality is the nearest you probably need one is 250km away.
  8. I would concur with that. You need to own one then you "get it".
  9. The range is fairly reasonable, a realistic 500km and charging at about 150 Kw. You can go from 20%-80% in about 20 minutes. LFP (safe) battery chemistry too. A very fun car to drive, instant 670NM of torque available. I have driven the Taycan and I would say the Seal is 90% of the car at less than 20% of the cost.
  10. As did mine, and I worry I might have it.
  11. I think it's 1.6M baht, same segment as Honda Accord.
  12. Not with mine, I told her to wind her neck in (disabled that warning). All the warnings can be disabled. It does have excellent voice control, like... Wind down the drivers window 25% Turn on seat ventilation in the front row at position 1 Navigate to ...
  13. I think your mixing up people, Alzheimer's? I am the one who canceled my Cyberster order, mostly because of not getting price protection. I was unhappy with the battery chemistry too, I much prefer LFP.
  14. The BYD Seal Performance AWD, actually it's faster than that, it does 0-62 in 3.8 seconds
  15. The Accord V6 was dropped in Thailand a long time ago. My EV does 0-60 in under 3.8 seconds.
  16. If I wanted to drive to Bangkok, I wouldn't need to do any planning, there are high speed chargers every 30km or so. If I was going somewhere off the beaten path, I may need to plan depending where it was, but I can't think of anywhere, I would comfortably drive to Khao Lak or Phuket though I would much rather fly. A Honda Accord doesn't do it for me. Unless it had a 5 litre, twin-turbo engine and could match the performance of my EV. I like the thrill of a powerful car. I also love the amount of time I save not having to fill up my car at fuel stations. I particularly like the way they have set up the suspension, I love that I can power slide it predictably. I've only ever had one car I could do that with predictably, that was a Honda and 25 years ago.
  17. If you do long journeys regularly, a BEV is not for you unless you enjoy the breaks. I do Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai every 2-3 weeks and I could get there and back without recharging. I occasionally go to Kamphaeng Phet, I could probably get there without charging in ECO mode, but I prefer the NORMAL mode. I don't go any further than that by road.
  18. I don't understand how you can find a Hybrid driving experience superior to a BEV. That makes no sense.
  19. They do inside, and they do when in the atmosphere. I know they make sounds because they do on Star Trek.
  20. Some EV's have a range of sounds available, the Porsche Taycan optional sound pack sounds like a spaceship.
  21. I bow to your more adventurous experience
  22. I'm sure it's a lot of fun to drive, but hard work. I would be interesting to see the numbers of that and the Seal around the Nürburgring.
  23. Maybe in a week
  24. Finally we agree on something
  25. All diesels sound like tractors from outside.
