  1. Actually, there ARE thousands of charging stations (2,658 at Dec 2023) and nearly 10,000 charging units. Thailand: number of EV charging locations by provider 2023 | Statista If you lived in Chumphon and were driving to Kui Buri, you would need ZERO charging stations, if you did need one, say you forgot to charge at home, you have 5 to choose from, probably none of them would be fully occupied. What you fail to understand is that when owning an EV you don't need any charging stations within 150-300km of your home (assuming you charge at home) and if you're on a trip, you only need them every 250-450km, you don't need 5 on a 220km journey. Likewise, Phuket doesn't need many for travelers, I usually choose a hotel where I can charge my car overnight, which nowadays is a huge percentage. I take your point on heat affecting batteries, but EV's have heat pumps and the battery is thermally managed, it's never 40C when the outside temperature is 40C except when parked. Yes heat may affect charging times as the battery is cooled but it won't affect regenerative braking which is typically done at 0.2 to 0.4 of the cars maximum power output. EV's come into their own during stop/start & tailback driving, air conditioning, power brakes, power assisted steering are all battery operated, so the consumption is this kind of traffic is where they shine. I am one of those people who like to buy or even pre-order a new model. I accept there can be risks in doing that as people who ordered the Toyota Tundra 2022-2023 and Lexus LX600 have found out with their engines suffering catastrophic failure, you have to trust the manufacturer and their warranty. BYD are one of the biggest car makers in the world, I trust their warranty. Driving Bangkok to Phuket is best answered by @KhunLA who regularly approximates this trip.
  2. OK, I’ll give you a worked example with my actual cost, if I had to pay for the electric, which of course I don’t. My Benz would do 10km/l on the round trip between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. 36 liters of petrol. My BYD Seal will do it using 85% of the battery. 70Kwhrs of energy. 30 liters of petrol is 1,332 baht 70 Kwhrs of electric is 280 baht at PEA rate. The road is terrible across the mountains and through small towns, most people average 60 km/hr.
  3. I got it, Transam didn’t, you’re addressing your comment to the wrong person
  4. You really are a simple chap Transam, you believed him?
  5. 75-80% reduction in fueling cost is about right, would you like a worked example?
  6. Generally, 75-80% reduction in fuel cost is about right. @KhunLA is the expert at keeping statistics, maybe he will weigh in? He has had DinoJuice and EV versions of the same car.
  7. Why don't you at least start with a test drive?
  8. I'm not the best guy to ask about SUV's as I don't like them. There are quite a few both BEV and PHEV. I based the savings on about a 75-80% reduction in fuel cost which is about par for the course on two similar sized vehicles.
  9. Fast turns in supermarket car parks
  10. This one. Seriously, the savings I quoted would be correct if you repeated that exercise today.
  11. I'm staggered at the savings you could have made. Maybe 190,000 baht saved. Does that stagger you? I think it's staggering, I'm truly staggered.
  12. I should have qualified my statement. Nobody who has an EV has range anxiety anymore. Thailand has a plethora of charging stations out there. There are thousands of charging stations out there. For a guy who has ZERO experience of EV's, you sure do have a mouth on you. Do you believe everything you read? The Seal Premium has a 650km range, driving like a loon you'll probably get 500km out of it.
  13. I haven't, there's always a queue in Chiang Rai and I get my electric free from Solar so I don't want the hassle. I will sort it out after 3rd January when I want to use my 30,000 baht charging credit.
  14. I think Thaksin is heading for a fall. I suspect a deal was reached with someone I can't name, he agreed to come back, have no involvement with politics and spend time with his family. It's pretty clear that's not what he's doing. Machinations at this level, move slowly with careful planning. You do not stick 2 fingers up to someone at this level without being check-mated down the line.
  15. Yes, same red pin charger.
  16. I had one free session, but the next session I had to pay for
  17. I agree, I love the regen and would like an even higher setting like the MG4 if possible. The performance is such that you can pull out to overtake half a dozen cars in one go and after passing the 1st or 2nd car you are already slowing down whilst overtaking the next 4. None of the ICE cars are capable of passing even one car because they don’t have an instantaneous 530hp on tap.
  18. You’re completely ignorant. You haven’t a clue about EV’s. This is 2024, nobody has range anxiety any more.
  19. I probably won’t notice it, my daughters have foodpanda, shopper,Lazada, too too and god knows what else directly linked to my bank account
  20. Copious amounts of red wine tend to assist in that.
  21. Me too. We're on 8 days from emailing Reversharger, I have zero confidence in getting any reply. My friend at the dealership when I charged my car had the same problem.
  22. Think how much you would have saved on fuel if it was an EV, it's staggering.
  23. Since the 90's that has been Mercedes approach too, with some of the models, you can't really tell the C, E or S class apart. It's been down to little things like how many stripes in the head & tail lights. You aren't mentioning that each month the percentage of people buying an ICE car decreases, because they are losing market share to EV's. It's all about trends. I hope he tests drives an EV with a long range, it would be ideal for his stated journey types. We have an ICE car here too, but I would always choose to take the EV on a long trip.
  24. There are 2 BYD dealers, an AION, a Changan, a Neta, an Omoda and a Wuling dealership in Chiang Rai. There is plenty of choice for EV's. You wouldn't a charging station in Chaing Rai or nearer, the nearest charging station you would need is 2-300km from your home.
  25. No you are wrong. People are turning away from ICE and buying EV's. Further, the percentage that do that increases every month.
