My post never said more people are buying EV than ICE. Look carefully at what I said. My post said the percentage of people buying EV's over ICE has increased for every month of the last 6 months. Conversely, the percentage of people buying ICE over EV has declined every month for the last 6 months. I am not denying more people buy ICE, I even said 1 in 7 or 8 new cars are EV's now. The obvious conclusion is that the other 7 out of every 8 new cars is an ICE. What is important is that the market share for EV's out of all cars is an upward sloping graph, without a single dip in the last 6 months. Honda closing a factory here, Suzuki & Subaru leaving the country. All the while the Chinese are opening maybe as many as a dozen plants here. The writing is on the wall Vinny. I think a lot of people who buy an ICE car now are going to be kicking themselves in the future.

I hope the pickup driver is pursued to the full extent of the law, the kids did nothing wrong. In general, I think Thai pedestrians bear some responsibility for driver behaviour at pedestrian crossings. Three times now I have stopped at the crossing to allow people at the other side to cross and they just stand there like rabbits caught in headlights. Hooting my horn makes no difference they just wait for the traffic to stop, and of course it doesn't because they don't step out. On 2 of those 3 occasions, I got so fed up waiting, I drove off. On the last occasion I sounded my horn and they did take a step forward and the traffic stopped. In the UK a pedestrian would be incensed if the traffic didn't stop. As a pedestrian I make a point of checking that traffic can stop and then I step boldly onto the crossing, the cars and pickup trucks usually stop often having to brake hard because they can't believe someone just did that, the motorbikes never stop. \

I am not misleading anyone. I stated the automarket this year is in recession. I stated that the percentage of people choosing EV's over ICE increases every month. I stated about 1 in 7 or 8 people buying a new car here choose an EV. What is misleading in there? You on the other hand quoted that less EV's this year have been sold than last year, without clarification that suggests people are turning away from EV's and buying ICE instead when the opposite is true. It's about what you leave out that is important. Tell me, what did I leave out?

I agree the Mazda CX8 is a fine car. There is really no good reason not to test drive cars you're interested in. Some are amazingly disappointing and some are a very pleasant place to be.

I don't mind you quoting statistics, but I object when your intent is to mislead. You are trying to make it look like people are turning away from EV's by comparing their sales in the year of a crash to their sales last year. It's not right to suggest to forum members that EV sales are collapsing inferring that people are not buying them when the truth of the matter is every month their market share increases and every month the market share of legacy cars decreases. For the last 6 months running EV adoption is an upward sloping graph.

I drive a BYD Seal Performance AWD. It's 95% of the fun of the Porsche with 530hp and almost as fast (0-100 in 3.8 seconds) and I think they are 1.6M THB. I love it. Test drive one and see what you think. There are lots of us on this forum that drive Seals. I have driven as far as Kamphaeng Phet which involves one stop for 20 minutes to top up whilst I pee and caffeinate. It costs about 330 baht to fill the battery from PEA for a range of 580km, realistically 450km if you welly it, which I do. I have solar so it costs me nothing to fill it up. The BYD SeaLion is coming in the next couple of months, PHEV and priced agressively.

Selective facts again. The whole automotive market has collapsed. ALL sales are down this year. EV's are the shining beacon in the few sales out there. Their market share grows every month, whereas the ICE market share decreases every month. The only possible conclusion, buyers are turning away from ICE and buying EV's.

All the evidence suggests that Thailand is moving over to EV's. I know the OP doesn't want an EV and I'm sure he has his reasons, but let's be transparent with our facts. I do drive an EV, I charge at home and for people like me who do, the nearest charging station I would need would be 300km away. If I lived in Phuket I would never need a charging station on the island. It's not like petrol stations, we don't need them near our homes.

Thailand's new vehicle market has changed massively in the last 12 months. Around 1 in 7 or 8 new cars today are EV's. Thailand has a great charging infrastructure and you will save about 80% of refueling it. If you do want a legacy vehicle, then I would highly recommend test driving first. Fords and Mitsubishi drive much better than the Fortuner which is a noisy vibration box.

I think your stats are spurious. I don't see how a house fire is relevant, and we all know the accident rate in Thailand is way higher than rest of world and most of your stats are accidents. It follows that ICE fires are higher here too, so comparing EV fires with the rest of the world is meaningless. All it proves is that Thai drivers have poor driving skills.
