I agree with you. One of those cars is sold at a reasonable price by the manufacturer, the other has a grossly inflated price by the importer who wants a high profit margin.

I’m sure you’re right, in any event, I’m not about to translate all the instructions into English to find out. I also have 1,000 baht charging credit on the Sharger app from the manufacturer of my previous German EV, I guess I’ll never be using that too.

Further to my last post, I’ve just had an email from Sharger to say that currently Kasikorn debit cards cannot be processed and please use a different bank card

I charged my friends MG4 X-Power at the BYD dealership today on their fast DC Charger. I couldn't use my 30,000 baht credit and had to pay for it (actually with her USA bank card). I have a new k-bank card, in all respects identical to the last one that scammers got hold of, and it said my bank debit card is not supported, anybody else come across this?

You'll get the cheapest new pair on AliExpress as long as you know your prescription.

My daughter has the X model, standard range. I drove it for 9 months too, it’s a fantastic car. Realistic range is about 350km. She commutes short distances every day and does 180km journey between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai about 15 times a year.

If you’re a responsible dog owner, then you’re unlikely to have any problems. To be responsible… Your dogs should be fenced in and never allowed onto public property except on a leash. Your dogs should never be allowed onto private property whatsoever. Your dogs should not be allowed to bark at passing strangers. Your dogs should not be allowed to foul outside your property and if they do, it should be immediately picked up by you. At night your dogs should be locked indoors and not allowed to bark. If you do all this, I doubt you will have anyone trying to kill them. If you don’t do all of these, you’re unfit to keep dogs. Some years ago, my neighbor kept dogs outside at night. They were prone to barking when they heard another dog. Every time they barked, I got up and banged on his door until he came out and I told him his dogs were barking and disturbed my sleep. Our installer said the same 5 years ago when he installed our first TCL units giving me a sideways glance as he did. Last time I drove past his lock-up, it was stacked to the ceiling with TCL units, he used to push Carrier & Daikin. He charges us 3,500 baht to install a unit regardless of pipe run, I can get it much cheaper, but I know I can just leave him alone and it will be done properly. He starts part way through the build and the pipes and drains are in the walls/floors before plastering & tiling. 4 of the units in my own house are on inside walls, you have to do that part way through a build. Unless I want heat capable units, I always go for TCL. TCL in China can heat, but not in Thailand, it's 9 degrees Celsius here this morning, I really wish they could heat...

I think you misunderstood me, we design & build villa housing estates, there is no more "upmarket" developments than ours in Chiang Rai with our houses topping out at 33M. We have no vested interest in TCL or any other air conditioning manufacturer. I have 6 of TCL 18,000 BTU in my house & another in the garage, 4 of TCL 12,000 BTU units, a 10 year old Mitsubishi 12,000 BTU Heat/Cool and a Fujitsu 36,000 BTU Heat/Cool Cassette unit. I have another 5 of TCL units in my Chiang Mai house too. I chose TCL for my own house because IMHO they are better than the Japanese/Thai brands, regardless of the fact they are cheaper. It's cheaper for us to fit a new TCL unit than repair a Daikin, 2 Daikin replaced with TCL in tenants houses in the last 12 months alone. IMHO TCL are the best units you can buy at any price.

I think you mean TCL, TLC is an acronym for tender loving care. Just because something is cheaper doesn’t mean it is worse. The Chinese have disrupted the air-conditioning market in Thailand, TCL is now the market leader on Lazada for air-conditioning units. Why would you pay double or treble the 10,088 baht price for a TCL 18,000 BTU unit to get a Thai or Japanese unit which is no better. Our company has installed well over 100 A/C units in our new builds and for the last 4 years TCL is our brand of choice. Zero failures, No yellowing. People say Daikin are good, we have a 40% failure rate in 6 years on their inverter units and they yellow horribly, as does Mitsubishi. Chinese BYD is the market leader for electric cars and according to the engineers commissioned by UBS, the cars are cheaper, equivalent quality and a generation ahead of their German electric rivals, with a far higher degree of integration. Cheaper does not automatically mean inferior.

Will your sister(s) come to Thailand? They have a nightmare if your house is in a company. First they need to be here, have the shares transferred to them, then open a bank account, sell the house and then find a way to get the money out the country, this last step is not going to be easy (buying a TT3 or USDT Crypto are 2 solutions). There will be a huge liability for tax in the company, so they will leave and not come back and the TRD will lose out. Whatever you do DO NOT will them your house (you don't own it). leave your company shares to them.

Yes, that is perfect, it will save your executor(s) a lot of running around. My friend sold his house here and moved to France, fortunately his bank (Kasikorn) went back over 10 years and for 500 baht per item, gave him copies of his incoming transfers. The other issue is if you own anything in a company, leave the shares not the item in a company. Remember the company owns it, you don't and tell your executor not to contact the other shareholders or they may make a claim and prevent the share transfer and force sale of the house and distribution of funds so they get their (say) 51%. There are significant tax issues in taking a house out of a company.

Yes I am certain that any money taken out of the country by your heirs has to have been brought in properly or tax paid here. Dying doesn’t change the rules. There are ways to do it, you can “buy” a TorTor 3, I understand it used to be 1% of face value or banks will go back decades and document incoming transfers for a fee, but it’s probably worth getting the papers together whilst you are alive. I have heard of condos being left to foreign relatives and they had to bring in the money to have the ownership changed, but I can’t attest to that.

The same limitations apply after probate as they do if you wanted to send the money now whilst you’re alive. You need to assemble all the incoming foreign transfers, you can normally get details from your bank and they charge maybe 500 baht for each one maybe more. And whoever does probate will need those to be able to send the money out of the country. They will not be able to send more than you can prove was brought into the country originally. Or that if you’re working here, you earned here and paid tax on it.

If you take two, they will only need one. If you take one, they will need two. This is Thailand.

Just as we were finishing up charging another dolphin arrived, I reminded him the charging for free has finished and he said he has the same 30,000 baht promotion I have. How is that the coincidence!

There was a guy charging at the BYD dealership in Chiang Mai but only 12 minutes left on his dolphin. I reminded him the promotion is over but he said he knew but was on platinum. We are currently watching Wallace and Gromit vengeance most foul on Netflix whilst charging. I’ve seen 115 kw too.

Lazada did offer an installment option, I used our own guys. You should budget 2,000-3,500 baht for installation.

Some of the brands only charge about 1,500 baht more for 18,000 BTU. TCL Inverter 18,000 BTU on sale for 10,022 baht on Lazada. I have 6 of this unit in my house and 7 others. It’s a great, very quiet unit.

I will be charging my car later today in Chiang Mai, I’ll be very surprised if anybody’s charging up, it will be interesting to see the speed I get with nobody else on the charger.

I’m currently in Chiang Mai for a few days, hanging paintings and installing a washing machine in our house there. I am glad the free promotion will end tonight, I have 24 months of free charging (or ฿30,000, which ever comes first) and I will finally be able to use it. I would rather pay PEA rates in Chiang Mai than risk the drive then needing to queue. I do feel sorry for the coffee shop next to the Bangchak charger in Chiang Mai as their trade is about to drop enormously.
