Whilst I am all for Operation illegal foreigners can you please show the same law enforcement tactics for the many drug dealers in my neighborhood please.... Be nice.

Drug dealers just give the police a cut of the monies and there is no longer a problem with drugs or the dealing of them, I assume. Ever thought about moving areas?

Can someone tell me where TAT run these campaigns to attract visitors.I live in the UK, watch television, read newspapers etc and I do not recall seeing one advertisement in the last few years promoting Thailand, Thai food or anything else Thai.

Apart from the odd holiday programme (that usually promotes high end resorts ) what exactly do TAT spend their money on?.(dont answer that, everyone knows the answer)

As far as Thai restaurants in the UK, my Thai partner refuses to eat in them as she says the food is served in small portions, tom yum goong with two prawns, and expensive. It is only when she speaks Thai to the staff that she gets "off menu" items.

I'm pretty sure I've seen adverts for Thailand on UK TV but I'm sure it was during football matches on Sky Sports. Those who like to drink and get a little lairy must be their target audience.

  3. If they want to appeal to the British market they just need to open a few more chippys and allow beer to be bought and consumed 24/7. It's sunny here and those few hours in the day that beer isn't allowed to be bought is costing the country a lot of money. Nothing a Brit likes more than sun, beer and sunburn. I wonder if they've actually taken any advice from any Brits before they launched this campaign.

It deserves to adversely affect tourism. Why doesn't the Thai government have inspectors checking tourist boats at EVERY port of embarkation for sea worthiness, overcrowding, etc. and giving a red card and penalties to those that don't comply?

You're right. That would take planning and organising and non corrupt inspectors who would rather save the lives of others than take a few baht and the ability to deal with pee'd off boat owners who can't operate as their boats are death traps and enforcing laws and collecting penalties. Alot of the above is lacking in Thailand.

The vast majority of the overstays would have filled in where they are currently staying - or are staying not far from that location -- since when they entered ... most of them had no forethought that they would be overstaying so they answered truthfully.  Most people by the time they overstay have already visited for a lengthy time, and have preferences on where they want to stay.  Compiling that list of data, you would likely be able to track down the majority of the overstays.

Offer a portion of the fines as a reward for information leading to capture - and you would likely even get more up to date information.

Thais love to grass on farangs, I can definitely see a reward system working here.

Another thread being turned into a pointless Thai bashing opportunity. Someone asked to take a photo. How is that shameless?

No. If you saw some people from the emergency services that were on their way to a well published rescue mission would you a) stop them and ask for a picture so you can put it on Facebook? or b) wish them good luck and don't disturb them. I'm in favour of b. It's shameless promotion from Thai airways plain and simple.

In the UK there are organized cave, cliff, underwater search, inshore lifeboat and mountain rescue teams, coordinated by the police and coastguard, who make operational plans for every conceivable scenario, and these are exercised regularly with those volunteer teams.

What do the police do here for their salaries?

Fleece the salaries of others, setup road blocks in the most dangerous places and go to sing karaoke at bars in full uniform. That's about all I see them doing. Not fit for purpose.

USA and Singapore still carry them out? Where are you from and how do they deal with murderers, drug dealers, rapist and the other scum?

USA and Singapore still carrying them out, yes. America also bombs for peace and thinks that everyone needs guns to protect themselves from others with guns yet still they have monthly mass killings in schools. Singapore canes youngsters for vandalism or taking drugs. Neither country is an ideal role model.
