The Russian land mass is 17 million square kilometres, the biggest country on the planet. Ukraine is a mere 600,000 square kilometres, but the soil in eastern Ukraine is the richest on the planet. The end game for Trump is giving Putin what he wants, and extorting Ukraine for strategic minerals. The end game for the EU should be to defeat Russia. If it doesn't, Putin will rearm and push westward. Any agreement with either Putin or Trump is worthless. Whether it has the cohesion of purpose to do that remains to be seen.

You don't think the US will be lifting sanctions, while the UK and EU while be imposing more? It's pretty clear who Trump is siding with.

As an Australian, I question whether being allied with America is worth anything. 1/ America is putting 25% tariffs on what we export there. 2/ We are purchasing 3 secondhand nuclear submarines. For the same money, we could have 24 conventional submarines. 3/ We have 3 bases in Australia which are sovereign US territory. Any intelligence shared with us is determined by American policy. 4/ Any intelligence that Australia shares with America could end up anywhere in the world, with the current administration there. 5/ America has repeatedly proved it cannot go the distance in any conflict. It will also sell out anyone Time to find new allies. America is no longer trustworthy.
