Lightning is a varying electric current and does exactly what we expect from varying electric currents, it produces EM waves. These waves can be detected many kilometres from the source. Inverter type air conditioners that are not correctly grounded will be more susceptible to damage from spikes on the supply line. Its quite common for Thai installers to not ground outdoor units which later gets picked up during warranty claims.

Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
Fruit Trader replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For those living in and around Pattaya, a claim that yellow books are sometimes useless might carry a little weight. I agree with the usefulness of a yellow book but it must be quite disappointing for someone who went through the application process only to find their local DLT does not accept yellow books as proof of residence. I know of two fairly recent cases where the yellow book was not accepted when renewing a driving licence at Chon Buri DLT. Reason given by this office for rejecting yellow books is that people move address without updating the yellow book whereas in most cases immigration carries up to date address information. For those who wish to question this, a call to the Pattaya Chon Buri office will provide the latest ruling on yellow books and pink cards. -
Is a little over priced considering brackets power supply and trunking are already installed. Removal of the old AC is easy, gas recovery into the outdoor unit takes leas than a minute. Note. As scrap, a fully copper AC will place up to 1600-1800 Baht in your installers pocket, aluminium about 700-900 Baht. The best way to test your AC's in the same room is let each come up to set point then monitor cost to hold temperature over time. Important to measure room temperature with separate device because accuracy of AC's setting varies between brand.

Curb your enthusiasm and the frustration will greatly reduce. Yes, Plex or Kodi are solutions if LG smart share is not an option. -

Download and install LG smart share on your PC. Information can be found on the LG website. Then place media files in the LG share folder on the PC and away you go. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Fruit Trader replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The ten dichotomous questions from said survey are listed below, 1 and 7 received the most desirable response. UK ECIU SURVEY 1. The total upfront costs for an EV are higher than a petrol car 2. The total lifetime CO2 emissions of an EV (from building, driving and scrapping) are no less than those of a petrol car 3. More natural resources are extracted from the earth to build and fuel an EV than are extracted to build and fuel a petrol car 4. EVs pose a threat to the structural integrity of the UK’s car parks 5. EVs are more likely to catch fire than petrol cars 6. EVs are no better for urban air quality than petrol cars 7. The UK is not on course to install the charging infrastructure it will need to make the transition to EVs 8. EV drivers currently pay more for their insurance than petrol car drivers 9. The UK’s grid will not be able to cope with the extra demand that will be created by the UK’s shift to EVs 10. Switching to EV’s will weaken the UK’s energy independence -

Condensate dripping from the outdoor unit. Sometimes it comes from pipes inside the condenser but more often from exposed service valves or uninsulated pipe near to them. Below shows recent installation here where we have insulated the service valves to stop dripping on the walkway. -
Naga Fountain Pumping System

There are several cheap mppt buck modules from China kicking around example the ZK-SJ20 which includes low voltage disconnect. -
One solution for hole too big in ceiling problem is use the finishing ring from the old fitting as a reducer. Take to LED store and find new LED to fit inside old ring. Below photo shows ring from old light used to fit a smaller Philips 3W LED. Best spray the rings white for better match.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, the above paragraph clearly explains the difficulties. My apologies for taking you out of the comfort zone and best of luck the predictions .

In my world if I get 150g for the price of 100g I simply adjust the price per gram. Its an interesting argument like when I said no to a two for the price of one offer and ask for one at half price.

Your inverter was very likely in a derated condition before you started the charge. Unless of course you are exporting for profit or net metering I prefer to use derated when referring to an inverter that's in a condition where it can't export or dump power available locally. I try to avoid using the ambiguous term free power. Yes I fully understand fixed and variable costing, we have many working examples here but it does not change my stance on ROI and free surplus power; if that's what you are referring to. Hit me up on PM and I will invite you to tour the family packaging facility and power electronics business this nutter has created. The BIL always has a solar inverter on the bench.
-
My argument is with those who invest in solar then claim EV charging is free from cost when using what they call surplus solar. It really is a fantasy world.
-
duces excess power during certain parts of the day. Determined indeed. None of the energy produced by a solar system is free from cost until ROI is achieved. It really is that simple and no amount of free surplus excess and waste talk will change this fact. Inverters in a derated state will be capable of producing more than what is required. There is no surplus production that gets thrown down the drain. If you don't understand something ask rather than act like a child.
-
You can buy an underbody exhaust sound speaker to go with those pipes. Smoke emitting device coming soon.
-
It really is simple and applies to anyone who spends money on a solar system. The only exception would be if the system came free of charge. Every watt used comes at a cost until ROI is achieved. No amount of smart communicating with the solar system changes that fact. You can of course tell family to charge for free when your system is derating but that does not change the fact that there's cost before ROI is achieved. Try this logic. People who sell back to the grid expect to get paid. On the smart consumption subject, we actually address directly via wired comms our solar inverter to recover live data remotely. Limiting a device consumption based on the inverters derating value would be quite easy but would not change the fact that there is a cost/watt involved until ROI is achieved.
-
When someone says 95% of their driving is free because they charge from excess solar; one would expect the solar system to already have achieved ROI. This is because every watt consumed carries cost until ROI is achieved. Only a dreamer would think otherwise. Our electric lift truck goes on charge at around 4pm each day. Its charger is connected to a phase with no export solar attached. At this time of the day consumption is low in the work sheds and solar is derating but I would never consider power going to the charger to be free from cost until ROI has been achieved around Dec this year. If someone wishes to view their excess capacity as free from cost when charging an EV then why stop at the EV, throw a refrigerator or even an AC into the free mix. You can not fool all of the people all of the time. If one wishes to spend ten hours each day monitoring EV topics and telling the world how much money they are saving, be sure to have all your ducks in a row.
