Was over in UK not long ago, went out with my brother, went for a sandwich ,,over 4 quid ,nearly fell off my chair ,and it was nothing special.Varies between £3.30 and £4.40 a pint in the UK.
On a recent visit to the UK, I ordered a small bottle of orange in a public house.
With £2 in hand, I nearly fell of the stool when they said £2.80...……….. what the flook!
I was more than happy to return to Thailand.

Elvis, its a waste of time talking to them,as you said none so blind.I stopped reading at 'why bother' - you sound like my teenage daughter when she was going through 'that' phase.
Lets agree to not bother each other anymore.

Well we brought our son back here when he was 12 ,because the school he was going to in the UK was awful , he went to a private school here ,then university and now has a first class job earning a very good salery, has a terrific girl friend who also has a very good career ahead of her.i am an old long termer who has been married for over 22 years so i dont drink to much or complain or go around with ridiculous women, funny i am much like all the other guys i spend time with, also pay the same as Thais,as salespeople can tell if your a local and not a short timer. After many years, I only have two serious complaints.
First is the poor quality of schools-- even so-called top international schools-- and the overall educational/intellectual environment. Arguably, for younger kids, it's manageable but when it comes to secondary school, it's a real limitation. Solved that problem by taking the family back home for the high school years. Overall, though, I feel that Thailand is no place to raise kids, sorry to say.
Second, very few of my foreign friends have stayed long-term. They usually hang around for up to 5 years, then move on to further their careers or for other personal reasons. Most other long-termers I see are significantly older (and so share few hobbies), or they drink too much, complain too much, shack up with ridiculous women, have no interest in the language, people, or place, etc.
Fortunately, I haven't experienced bad marriages, greedy relatives, ornery neighbors, cons and schemes, etc. Of course, there are plenty of other annoyances, like bad driving, dual pricing, garbage where it shouldn't be, poor service, traffic, urban sprawl, immigration laws-- you know the story. But somehow, these seldom really get to me; I just let go. Misery is its own punishment, so why punish myself?
In short i love it here

What the left you mean who spread lies and cover up the truthIt’s not called “arguing” when you don’t have any arguments but just spread lies and fears.

Its a waste of time arguing on here the left wing never admit they are wrong ,just keep spouting the same old rubbish and never admit they are wrong, just that we did it the "wrong' way

You have hit the nail squarly on the head, 100% right, my father came to Britain from Europe to fight Hitler, married a local girl and became more British than those born there,we his children were British as are our kids ,well one of mine has lived here and in the UK so is a bit of both .
But Islam will never integrate, saw it in my old home town,in my street 1 hindu family ,2 black ones ,but you only see Muslims in their own areas, and as for the ones on here who simply say we are wrong ,get your head out of the sand

Before he died Edward Heath the then prime minister admitted that they lied about the common market to the people, the govts new all along what joining would entale. To be honest i believe they lie as much now as they did thenThe British people wanted out on the very first time we wre properly consulted about giving away our sovereignty and self rule. The 1975 referendum was the biggest con trick you could imagine. No one other than politicians were asking to join. It was imposed. The referendum was about joining a common market. No import tariffs etc. Indeed it was called simply the "Common Market". A clue in the name. There was no mention of open borders, common currency, a European parliament, laws being imposed. Its not hard to goggle the leaflet every address was sent at the time. It said we were joining a market .. not the United States of Europe. Opposition had no money to mailshot similarly. The government refused to pay but could afford the pro pamphlet ! Opposition were warning the true intent was a US of Europe but were dismissed as scare mongerers.
Unbelievably I recently happened upon a site of pro marketeers re the 75 election ... which said its rubbish that the public were not informed it was going to lead to a huge political join up and open Europe because opposition were warning that was what was intended and we were being conned. (The government and pro Europeans denied it) So because we were fooled and conned .. and a few wise people warned us .. we apparently thus DID know and so cant complain. We were conned they admit so cant complain now. Grrrrrrr. Its not me making it up. Its not hard to research the pamphlet and 1975 con trick.

Lol...the British Embassy doesn't actually help anyone. All it does is say "screw you" or clean up the mess if you die.The warning comes after the British Embassy in Bangkok revealed that many of the people it helped last year did not have insurance.
Oh come on they dont do that much, screw you yes ,but thats about it

So you are covered for a bad case of the flu and an upset stomach B) :DI have found travel insurance which wiil sell me $250,000 coverage for my six-month stay in Bangkok for $1,000 if I select a $2,500 deductible. Now I must check the coverage exclusions carefully. I have recovered from cancer, have six stents in my heart and use motorcycle taxis.

I like it "May be a traffic nightmare" :lol:Have you been to T21 or looked at the preview video of this one? Guess not.
It is just the opposite of your comment....it is not similar to any mall. Italy floor, UK floor, San Francisco floor, France, etc. It is a unique themed facility unlike others.
Also, what location could be better? Jomtien??
Those other stores you mentioned are off Sukhumvit tourists do not go there or visit places like Homeworks.
This T21 is at a major intersection with many hotels and tourists within a short distance. They picked a fantastic location I think. Unless you live near there; because then it may be a traffic nightmare.

I dont care what anyone says, and to be honest dont much care,my wife is not hi so,and her family are not super rich, but she is educated and when she works earns far more than 10k a month as does our son who had a great education here and in the UK, her parents were ordinary folk who made money from humble beginings gave their children an education and they in turn have given their children even better educations .The family are now not to badly off, have never ever asked for anything and in fact if we were in dire straights would look after us in a heartbeat, so please dont knock all Thai people as most are just the same as most of us, I am sure if in your country you married some dole blodger or low class scrounging tart, they would be the same,as those here.
But a normal Thai person can only earn around 10k/month, and with all the expats posting they need 50k+/month to live, whatever she earns is irrelevant to changes in exchange rates. In the last 3 years, I've lost 20k/month of my income (when in Thailand) due to exchange rate fluctuations. But I guess you're one of the guys married to the mythical rich female, Chinese, educated, hiso with wealthy Bangkok families.
All the Thai girls I ever dated were lucky to be earning 10k/month as checkout girls and farming families living in mud huts maybe with an income of 2k/month.
