  1. Not sure what your point is. A one year extension based on being married to a Thai national does cost 1900 baht, just like any other extension. If that's a sweet deal (or not) depends on the quality of your relationship with your wife. Nobody forced you to marry her, and certainly not Thai immigration. They just provide you with a legal way to stay with her as long as your marriage exists de facto and de jure.
  2. You can't. You have to leave Thailand without having a valid re-entry permit, apply for the DTV at a Thai embassy or consulate (in person or using the eVisa system), then once the DTV has been granted enter Thailand using your DTV.
  3. You know very well (or should know, being an active participant in this thread) that most of those 22 pages had been racked up before the details of the DTV were published on Monday (July 15th). At this point (!), you are trolling and posting misinformation plain and simple. You're coming dangerously close to defaming the Thai government and Thai immigration in doing so, just be aware of that even if you don't care about your standing on this site.
  4. Depending on your local immigration office and their TM30 policy, it might still be relevant if you re-entered on the same multi-entry visa, or if you entered visa exempt. If the former, you might not be required to submit a new TM30 notification (but it's best to check with your IO). If the latter, you are definitely required to submit a new TM30 notification. If you fail to do so, you could very well get fined just like the OP.
  5. It's a relatively new development, but nowadays you have to stamp in and out in Cambodia yourself, so that they can take your picture and fingerprints. The days when just your passport went to Cambodia seem to be over, even at Ban Laem.
  6. What kind of visa or extension do you have? Unless you return with a re-entry permit, you are supposed to file the TM30 notification anew when you re-enter Thailand. Different immigration offices seem to have different policies on this though.
  7. How UK tourist visas work and whatever limitations they have is completely irrelevant here. Please stop bloating this thread with that nonsense. The rules for the DTV are clear. There is no such cumulative time limit.
  8. There you have your answer - in that case it cannot be used as proof of address at the DLT.
  9. Congratulations to the happy couple. You could say he's a freedom fighter, calling him a terrorist is a bit unkind.
  10. And give us our daily dose of Wise woes. Amen.
  11. It's well worth it for the hassle-free experience they provide. Also, as you can now stay 60 instead of 30 days, you will still SAVE money. Do the maths lol.
  12. Cham Yeam / Khlong Yai is a friendly and relatively quiet border crossing. Easy to get to from Trat City. You can use an eVisa to enter Cambodia there, but you might not get it on time if you apply today and need to leave Thailand by Sunday.
  13. You cannot use a Cambodian eVisa to enter there. And in any case, you should allow 3-4 business days to apply for a Cambodian eVisa, so it would be too late.
  14. You need to apply for the DTV at a Thai embassy or consulate outside of Thailand. A Thai bank account isn't a requirement.
  15. While everyone is busy moaning about wannabe digital nomads (as per usual), the real "floodgate opener" with the DTV appears to be the "Thai soft power" category. Reading the requirements on Thai embassy and eVisa websites, an appointment at a Thai hospital or a certificate of enrollment into a cooking class seems to be sufficient documentation, which sounds a lot easier than faking a digital nomad portfolio. I mean you can literally make a bona fide appointment with one of Thailand's top hospitals with just a few clicks.
  16. They're all waiting for their 10,000 baht electronic wallet.
  17. Good. And good riddance. His main qualification seemed to be grabbing the spotlight.
  18. Maybe they can throw in a Certificate of Sainthood while they're busy typing up stuff. 😇
  19. The moaning of foreigners on here that Thailand will soon be overrun by foreigners thanks to the new visa is hilarious. Get a grip and let the Thais decide how to run their immigration.
  20. You mention that's where you live, so let me ask you, did you try to apply for a long-term extension using a 1-day hotel booking for "residence"? For the 30-day extension for the purpose of tourism that is being discussed here, a 1-day hotel stay is usually acceptable, as tourists are expected to travel around.
  21. Where did you get that income figure from? Or the fact that you can qualify for the visa by showing a monthly income instead of a 500k baht bank balance?
