Why do they need human trials? It's just a copy of the already developed and trialed Chinese vaccine.

If I had to make a semi educated guess, I would say Thailand won't achieve solid vaccination until year 3. They will start now and the most anxious people will get vaccinated. Then, the virus will slow down... Thais will stop getting vaccinated thinking it's safe. The virus will come back, etc etc etc. There will be a couple rounds like this.
Some countries like Pakistan are already seeing people unwilling to get the vaccine -- of course, some of that could be that Pakistan opted to take a risk with the Chinese vaccines.

Should give them enough time to think of an idiotic, xenophobic name.
Thai Rak Thai Vac
Or some such nonsense
@Natai Beach are you still waiting for the Thai vaccine? Given Thai reputation, I guess we can expect it to be on time and work properly. ????

More than 90% of the population of Thailand want to see the country opened up to foreign tourists.
@sandyf I am still so surprised after all these months that the Thai domestic tourism could not fill the gap. You?

Fantastic click bait headline

If the Thais were switched on, they'd be writing off high season and focusing relentlessly on other economic matters like attracting investment fallout from China.
In 5-10 years, there will also likely be a global war with China. Tourism is on the downslide and will be for the next 10-15 years.

Well, I hope the all remember to thank their cousins in China that they admire so much. Maybe China will help them.

@Natai Beach I'm just very surprised that the Thai vaccine is not ready yet. Are you still planning to take the Thai vaccine or maybe the Chinese one?

The teacher lost BIG face from this.

Useless ranking by useless rag. Cambodia scores almost as high as France in health, and Portugal scores 30 points higher for climate than Italy, although they are quite close and at the same latitude. And where is the crime score?
How many Aussies retired in Mexico? Probably less than five.
Exactly, based entirely on survey. Entirely useless for making a real decision as to where to retire.

I can see from the comments that lots of newbies don't know much about Thailand...
Lecturing at the well known uni and driving a Benz should make anyone who knows Thailand immediately suspect the driver is from a wealthy family.
You don't get these jobs without being connected.

Very young lecturer and already driving a Benz?
As far as I know, UNI jobs don't paid that well.
If it's a "well known university" as the article indicates, she'd be from a well-off family.
When she says "I'll take care of everything", it's code for my family is connected and we will anyway pay for the dead man.
Chinese style. I mean Thai style.

Imagine if growing up in the USA I would have stated that my dream is to be Brazilian soldier but no connection to Brazil. Time to refer for psychological testing. Now if he had said astronaut that would be very different.
Close, but no cigar, as the expression goes
There are but a handful of reputable militaries on earth in modern history
UK, USA, Japan
That's basically it
Brazil... Do they even have one?
At least this Thai kid didn't say People's Liberation Army!

to inoculate 50 million people, including children, with two doses each, Thailand would have to procure about 100 million doses of vaccines or, if children are not included, 85 million doses will be needed.
They seem to miss the step where their Sinovac from their cousins up north is only about 50% effective. Rerun the numbers please.

In the 50s there were vaccines for whooping cough, tuberculosis, diphtheria, smallpox and polio being administered to children. Late 60's saw the vaccine for measles which by early 70s had morphed into measles, mumps & rubella(MMR).
I'm just surprised the Thai Domestic tourism has not filled the gap yet. So weird

Thailand's re-opening "coming soon" as Anutin shows "Vaccine Passport"
The most obvious problem with this concept is verifiability. Especially true in China and culturally similar countries like Thailand where lying and corruption is pervasive
We can almost guarantee a mass fraud with many unvaccinated people having vaccine passports and travelling

The idea is rediculous, when you don't want vaccin you can be discriminated or stopped from entering buildings or malls??
Many countries have had the concept of mandatory vaccines for a variety of things in the past... I also don't want to have the vaccine as I'd rather not hear about something unintended cancer rate spikes in 10 years, but such is life...

Agree disgusting habit.
Even felacio from a smokers is horrible. Many of the ladyboys smoke, so one way to know if you're getting a BJ from a ladyboy is if if feels or smells of smoke
Very unpleasant

It seems many people don't understand the science and risk.
Testing is not perfect. And, not all tests are equally accurate. For example, some countries have Chinese made tests that have very low accuracy..
Even high quality tests are not 100% accurate.
