COVID makes comeback in Thailand as booster fatigue leaves door open
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thank you for your observations and the same here in Cambodia. Thailand - the hub of Covid-19 and masks! For reference, I have recently had my sixth free vaccination (fourth Pfizer booster) at my local hospital in Siem Reap, courtesy of the Royal Cambodian Government. I never wear a mask these days. -

Named the Waterloo and Trafalgar Centre???? -
Yes indeed. I lived in the western extremities of Khon Kaen Province near Chumphae and Phu Wiang. Between the two were the mountains of the Phu Wiang National Park. Also in the region was the Ubonrat Lake (reservoir and dam) which had lakeside resorts including Pattaya 2. Photos of Phu Wiang National Park and Ubonrat Lake.

Blocking of BBC interview with Pita
Burma Bill replied to anchadian's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yes indeed, I watched the video and read Jonathan Head's full BBC interview on Google from here in Cambodia. The decrepit elderly Thai establishment may block in the Land of Dinosaurs but not in the wideworld outside - stupid "old farts"! On YouTube, by entering "pita limjaroenrat" you will find interviews in English with: NHK World Japan, CNN, France 24 English, Bloomberg Quicktake, ABC Australia, The Star Malaysia to name a few!! -
Something to look forward to? Happy days! (stock photo)

Investigation ordered into “special sticker” on overweight trucks
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So what? When I was a Tourist Police Volunteer in Lanna and Isaan, and along with my Volunteer colleagues, Tourist Police stickers were allowed on our vehicles so that when attending festivals and other such events, we had direct access to parking areas for officials. I must admit the stickers did give "free passage" through RTP checkpoints, often with a friendly salute. -

Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good comment. I was thinking along the same lines with the generals and other senior officers losing their "bag carriers", shoe shine boys, gardeners etc. etc. -
You must be joking - avoid like the plague!! Lanna and Isaan were ideal for me during my 20 years in Thailand.

Maybe this is the reason (from ATTA): Thailand’s requirement for Chinese tour groups to apply for individual visas, instead of group visas as in the past, may discourage prospective visitors from China, the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) has warned......... Starting from May 8 (2023), every Chinese tourist is required to apply for an individual visa to Thailand, with no exception. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/tourism/40027075

Amazing to read many of the comments. When my 3 pensions are credited to my bank ccount, my priority is to pay my landlord his rent money, knowing I have a decent place to live. All remaining funds are used according to my needs.

This maybe so if you are a "southerner" with your roots sunk in Bangkok or the seaside resorts, and not familiar with Lanna entertainment. Boy was well known in Chiang Mai. RIP and keep playing in Paradise. This photo is appearing on Facebook pages:

Myanmar junta says it will rethink relationship with Thailand
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With the greatest respect, not quite true. Since 1964 the Shan State Army has been fighting against (and still does) General Win's Junta Tatmadaw. The Burmese Junta now fear democratic support for the civilian Burmese NLD (National League for Democracy) Party formerly lead by Aung San Suu Kyi (now in prison), whose current members live in exile, now the National Unity Government, outside Burma. They are negotiating with "friendly" countries to re-establish democracy - sadly, a hard task, but one lives in hope. The NUG supports the Shan Army and other ethnic groups fighting against the Tatmadaw. Without Thailand, the only support comes from China which is plundering natural resources. Of interest: The Burnese Ambassador to tne UN is still a former NLD member and votes against his own country in defiance of the Junta - brave man! Kyaw Moe Tun was appointed ........ months before the military overthrew the elected civilian government.................. The military junta tried to fire him from his post, but he refused to leave, and so far, the United Nations General Assembly Credentials Committee has refused to recognize the military's appointee. He is also backed by Myanmar's National Unity Government (NUG), ......................... https://www.voanews.com/a/myanmar-s-un-ambassador-reportedly-renewed-for-another-year-despite-junta-s-opposition/6873801.html Stock photo of Shan State Army:
