The much heralded Vietnam isn't. Nowhere near it.

' Tourist arrivals in Vietnam edged up 0.2 percent year-on-year to 1.19 million in June 2019 from 1.18 million in the same month a year earlier. Visitors increased from Europe (2.3 percent), namely from Russia (3.7 percent), Germany (6.9 percent), and the Netherlands (9.3 percent); America (7.4 percent), mostly from the US (8.3 percent).'

Why spoil the BS party with actual facts. The next category will be Thailand's low class and poor expat rejects adding to the list

    LUCKY LUCKY Vietnam

One more reason to get the hell out of here. My lease expire in December and my visa is due for renewal in Feb...I'm going elsewhere. I have loved my many years here but nothing good lasts forever. I am just thankful that I didn't get buried in a Condo here and have to take a financial bath like lots of my friends.

Why would anyone that has bought a Home for 5 to 15 million baht cash need to to take bath and do a runner? I have a beautiful large condo lower Sukhumvit and life could not be any better. On the contrary the only people I know that recently left were desperates running from a crappy rented shoebox with little money to another country into another crappy rented shoebox...They will NEVER be satisfied with their lives

You are not restricted to putting in 800k.  You can put in 3 million baht and if you had a couple of years ago you could take as much as you wanted out in Aus dollars and have a lot more than if you had left it in an Aussie bank.

The reason Australia is paying more interest is because their currency is tanking.  If you keep your money in Aussie dollars you are betting they will rise in value which is not in the cards.

Everything is denominated in the value of the dominant world currency.  You may call it inflation or whatever but it the one reason your prices go up and down.

To recap and this thread is about banks and not all possible investments.  If you live in Thailand and have put money in a Thai bank in the past you have done better than if you had put money in an Aussie bank.  You can keep it in or take it out - up to you.  It is worth what it is worth.  Go back home and get a 2 year O-A visa and take as much as you want out of your Thai bank account and go home in another 2 years and get another O-A visa.

Good post. The weak oz dollar is good to go down to historical lows of 15 baht and it will test it IMO and could and probably will break through , charts don't lie but people will still leave their money in safe OZ , unbelievable!

  4. What a load of nonsense. It's always always about the money.

Tourists couldn't give a rats about a 200 baht tuk Tuk it's still cheap

Such a tiny tiny percent rent jet skis and bikes so they don't care about mafia or some general and The beaches are still blue and the climate tropical

The baht is the only reason and it doesn't look like doing a reversal for many years to come if ever

As close to Sukhumvit and the skytrain as you can get.

But, I would buy nothing now seems way inflated and over built.

On Nut=Oh Nuts.  Because when you wake up in the morning you will realize what a mistake you made living their you will yell out "Oh Nuts"....

Agreed now is not the time to buy with exchange rates and insane pricing. That window closed about 7 years ago.

sukhumvhit bc it's just tired and sleazy. You'd have to be an idiot to live in that hell. It won't develop

Geez you got that wrong, in the last 4 years two 5 star hotels have spent billions of baht opening each side of my soi  ( 2minutes from nana bts) and the q house has completed selling condos at 1 to 5 million USA dollars!!! and it has a walkway into nana BTS .

They have ripped up my soi and soi 15 and going all the way up sukhumvit putting in brand new concrete rds with massive drains, barely even a puddle in rainy season

They got rid of the footpath thieves opening up the whole area..no development ?

Only an idiot would not know that red light areas in all cities of the world eventually get built out due to rising populations and present fantastic buying but when they are red light not after DUh!. Lower Suk is going the same way

stick to renting 4k rooms son in whatever village your in your way out of your depth here????

I just saw nantra 39 at 489 per night ++, with a pretty good breakfast buffet.. but certainly not Nevada style.

Great deal and not far from the BTS they must be doing it tough but better bums on beds sub 500 than empty rooms

Royal Asia lodge suk soi 8 is only 1000k including breakfast, bit old but I found it OK

Stayed there once and its very old and The air con sounded like an old jet engine. The promenade is better but harder to get a room

There will always be at least one good quality establishment for 500 - 600 baht a night in large towns and cities.

Good quality at that price in a desirable area for a tourist are non existent for example on lower sukhumvit and lets face it that's where men chasing ladies want to be

Is AirBnB really Illegal? I was thinking if you rent out your room for 1 months contract you could do it by AirBnB as well, as the only Illegal part is the Rent less than 1 month? Or have I missed something about AirBnB?

Its not illegal and has a massiv presence in Thailand

Its illegal to rent out a room for less than 30 days which means the landlord is responsible NOT air bnb

But that doesnt stop the Thousands of owners renting out nightly. Thais of course are above the law

Got nothing to do with the quality of either. Go into a cafe or a restaurant almost anywhere in the world and most people are too busy on their phones to talk to the person opposite

Simply not true. Its prolific here because of the communication problem and the age gap and having zero in common with a Thai Buddhist who are just not interested in any type of in depth discussion

But they can be crazy sex when rented but marriage would quickly fix that issue ????

    Don't kid yourself.

But beyond the weak deflection, why does watching other couples perceived communication problems in public interest you so much that it's worth commenting about?

Duh read the OP , its relevant to the discussion especially because its so prolific here, lonely married men the worst combo. When Im in a restaurant I dont sit there staring at my feet but absorb my surroundings and seeing MOST couples playing with their phones or just staring into space . What did these men think would happen when marrying a low educated farm girl/bar girl? Thai men want nothing to do with them but farang will happily scoop the bottom of the barrel

Why is this such a delicate topic for you lol

    RENT RENT RENT ????
