I don't live in Bangkok any more but for what it's worth, friends who still live there tell me it's exactly the same in Bangkok as you describe things in Pattaya. Police stops on Sukhumvit late at night are a problem and their frequency has increased. The Immigration Department at Chaeng Wattana is horrendously busy and what used to take less than 30 minutes can now take a whole day. Prices in Bangkok at many farang restaurants, supermarkets and bars have gone through the roof etc. I hate to say it but I think it's not just Pattaya....probably most of the places where you have a large number of foreigners in Thailand have become more expensive and are much less laid-back....

I live lower Sukhumvit surrounded by night life and happy hour beers are 100 baht a Pint till 8pm and then the old German beer house starts happy hour from 10 pm till close

Terminal 21 stills sells Most dishes average 40 baht in the food court as do. Most malls

groceries from Tesco on line is the same price for all of thailand

What prices gone through the roof?

  2. Bluetooth headphones.  I use Bluedio T6 and Jabra Elite 65T depending on what I want.  My TV is non bluetooth so had to buy an adapter from Lazada to broadcast Bluetooth.  I also have sound bar for regular listening.  You can also get normal headphones with a cord.

The advantage of the Jabra is you can listen to sounds outside of the earpiece if you need to hear the doorbell or dog or phone.

If buying a new TV make sure it has bluetooth 5.0 would be my choice or 4.2 if the 5.0 is not available.
Can you provide a link to the blue tooth adaptor..? I assume the TV just needs a USB slot for it?

  3. They've just gutted a few old shophouses opposite us in Thonburi and are putting up a condo tower. They're going up faster than mushrooms.
I now have a huge Tesco next door,a smaller tesco opposite side of road a new huge Homepro and two 7/11 one big andone average size.Third 7/11 closed recently.
Two 5 star hotels have popped up in the last 4 years at either side of my soi in Nana . It used to be just a goat track and the transformation is incredible.

Billions of baht invested in a red light district. Just waiting for the oz dollar to slide to 15 baht before selling and yes even at a loss I will kill it on exchange rate

She's been to all those places with me, and many more, but what is easy about telling your wife she has to leave all her family and friends behind? Which is why I moved to Thailand in the first place. Then, it was a good idea. I travelled extensively for work and could base myself anywhere. But Thailand 2019 is very, very different to Thailand 1994.
Travel between both. Or send her back a few months a year. Has to be better than waking up every day wishing you were not here

NO, I am talking about the army. They have been the most destructive force for this nation, during the past century. They are leading the nation backwards, and are doing absolutely nothing for the people.

Still sounds like the BIB to me. Sack the useless BIB and install the army a fantastic solution

As we all know Military Rule had nothing to do with rescuing the boys and coach from the cave. I find this comment highly derogatory to all the people who risked their lives and lost a life during the rescue. It's all quite sickening. I don' know who disgusts me most him or Trump.

Sorry but it did by allowing foreign experts to take the lead, something that previous governments would never have allowed..to much face loss. The right decisions were made all the way down the line approved by Prayut  and a hero lost his life over it and here you are a sad keyboard warrior tearing all of that down

You should be ashamed of yourself ????

OK. Now that military rule is supposedly over, I have one more suggestion. Disband the army, entirely. They seem to serve no useful function for the nation, except for consuming vast amounts of oxygen, and cash. They are not wanted, they are not liked, they are not needed. Most despise them. Get out. Get out now!

Surely you are talking about the BIB and not the army. When was the last time the army forced you to pay tea money?
