welcome to (or back to) Australia ...how was your flight, have a nice stay etc.

    NEVER here in the LOS.

How Naive can you get. They couldn't give a rats about your cheap holiday.

Your being engaged with qualifying questions to read your body language and your response . And that beagle doing circuits around your bags when your lined up isn't a welcome home puppy

After many years here, I feel less welcome than ever before. I'm outta' here.

$$$$ you should have put a few dollars away during your 40 year working life and you wouldn't be in this mess.

The whole of the low end pattaya expats will end up in Vietnam..A perfect reason to avoid that dump

More than 50 per cent of the incoming pipeline – 8,337 units – is being developed. The majority of this is condominiums, with many being affiliated with international hotel groups via management or franchise agreements

Oh dear the 4k fan room renters wont like the billions of baht being invested  by hotel groups.

fact vs anecdotal nonsense by the bar stool boys.

    Next!

  4. Imagine being a newbie tourist just landed and looking forward to a cold beer or  wine and told 'no alcohol for sale for 2 days'.
Obviously upmarket hotels will keep selling as well as airport lounges.
    Stuff everyone else.
If you see a tourist buying a beer arrest him and extort  baht from him.
    Just another ripoff.
What were they saying about declining tourist numbers?

From previous posts airports will be dry as well

  5. Utter piffle and balderdash
Should get rid of all the Thais that can't meet the bare minimums too ??
    Nobody wants them either??
Average salary is 14k, expats need 65k.
If you got rid of everybody under 65k there wouldn't be many people left

Ozzie expats barely scrape in at nearly half the 65 k
These men have destroyed their own family's by building a house of cards around pretend stat decs

I speak the truth. Go Google
    Stop blaming immigration!

It would take about 3 years to break even

    Im twelve years in ????

No need to pay when the filter boys deem it necessary.  I wait until the flow is compromised which is about every 2 years but its not just about the money but as mentioned on many posts here the water delivery guys are not consistent..say goodbye to them forever!!

I arrived late Friday night  (12th).

First immigration hall was full and barricaded off with Imm staff herding people to hall 2. It was also full to the brim.

So being elderly (late 60's) I shuffled over to the Priority  (VIP?) area which had 3 or 4 IO's working and was completely empty!!

I asked politely in Thai, that, as I was elderly and tired, could I use this lane?

The Senior (of 2)  officers "guarding" the entrance checked my passport and said.."yes, old enough, go through".

I was all done and through in under 10 mins.

I was most grateful to them for letting me queue jump using common sense and a bit of sympathy for an elder.

I've only recently discovered through a hip injury and using a cane how incredibly kind Thais are . I dont want to give the cane up lol

Maybe doesn't fit the profiles of many expats here, but for Thais who hate walking (see motorcycle stand in front of every 50m deep soi) and love everything delivered, especially in the rainy season, Grab/FoodPanda/Pizza Company/HonestBee/McDonald's/KFC nailed it. Most pathetic delivery I've seen was from Pizza Company in Pratunam. The delivery guy gets on motorbike, drives no more than 20m, gets off and walks into a building. And no, it wasn't raining. Someone just too lazy to walk down and that 50 baht or whatever it costs to have it delivered was worth for him.

I'm lazy carrying heavy stuff from shopping malls so delivery guys are visiting my place several times every week, be it Lazada, Tesco, Tops,... lately rarely food, but when busy with no time to go out, that was also common.

It's the way people are here (large cities in Thailand). Love convenience and are willing to pay for it. I'm happy that this gives jobs to people in delivery/logistic business, increases business for the restaurants and shops, especially in rainy season and everyone is happy. Why bashing something that works and people enjoy? And if some expats are shaking their heads for groceries and McDonald's delivery as they couldn't imagine it in their home countries - just ignore it and cook by yourself or go out for a nice meal.

Thailand is great for this. My condo in BKK has 300 rooms and the lobby is always busy with delivery guys. Why any body would travel to a tesco is beyond me when for 60 baht they will deliver 1 item or a hundred items and yes they choose fruit and veges nicely, they know online is the future so they are good at it
