Air bnb isn't illegal in Thailand and yes I rent monthly as it's illegal in our condo block if less than 30 daysI understand AirBNB has been declared illegal in Thailand, also that the authorities are cracking down on condo rentals shorter than 1 month. Be careful.-

They are hitting them in those sois as I live right there and see them going through bags and body searching. I got caught up myself when trying to walk past a small group just as the bib on bikes pulled us all over. It’s good they find in a remote
place
shame the can not find the black men in Bangkok soi 4 soi 11 soi 13
and many other soi
selling drugs openly
and with them the black women
selling their bodies
they do not stand out like a pork chop at a Jewish wedding
but I’m sure the police and immigration will find them one day [emoji39][emoji39][emoji39][emoji39]
Problem is the Nigerians don't carry drugs on them for obvious reasons and if there visas are in order there is nothing they can do -
Show me any pub in Oz where you can buy a decent meal for less than 3-4 times the price in an equivalent restaurant in Thailand. Show me any pub in Oz where a schooner of beer is not double the price here. Show me an apartment with a swimming pool in any capital city in Oz where a week's rent is not the same as a month's rent in Thailand. Yeah, I know - go live in Dubbo for the cheap rent. Simpleton? You can't even spell the word "barely" correctly. Go troll somewhere else.
See how easy was that? Rather than give a smart Arse response to my post like you did you actually engaged your brain to put some comparisons together. Well done! Your the spelling police now as well? Grow up !
Nothing wrong with dubbo. Far better then renting a room out in nahkon nowhere
Pub grub is not that different to the pub pricing in BKK where I live. But I would rather buy lamb chops and a nice red with a cheese platter at home in oz.. At least triple the cost here. Pensioners eat in RSL clubs which are cheap
If beer is top of your list then your a heavy drinker so it's a bonus but please don't compare Chang to Ozzie beer.. It's cheap for good reason . I only drink wine and that's 3 x the price here
I own a condo on lower Sukhumvit so don't pay rent and can spend freely so that's a bonus.. but let my tell you quality rentals say 100 sqm condos in Asoke are Expensive! and the new condo prices in BKK are off the charts on par with Sydney. The newest addition next door to nana bts, the Q condo starts at 1 million to 5 million USA DOLLARS! and it's a red light area
To summarize.. Thailand is cheaper for desperate pensioners living in a cheap fan room in Pattaya or chiang mai but if you want to maintain the same standards of living like you did back home like I do in BKK then it's not that much cheaper.
Your supposed to come live in a 3rd world country as a step up in lifestyle yet most farang take a step down but only themselves to blame for a life wasted and that is you my friend as you mentioned on another thread "you would starve to death in oz" sad [emoji16]

Gee you been getting ripped off. OP can book one of many taxi services on Google egTook me less than 30 minutes in a minivan, it aint that far but of course a taxi direct to Patters is easier but will cost 3k rather than 300 on the buses

1600 baht. That's what I would be doing
Can't understand the logic in adding hours to save $40 as a jet lagged tourist

It's a long trip between airports and there will be probably an hour wait if not more due to peak season for the bus at Suvarnabhumi and then around 2 hours to Pattaya. No what I would be doing after a long flightHi thanks for your reply, i don't have any connecting flight, i will take a bus from Suvarnabhumi to go to Pattaya. Do you know how much is the shuttle ? Is there any bus from Don Muang to go to Pattaya ?Cheers

That's wrong. I asked the same question about the average yesterday and that term was wrongly translated. Their is no average just 65 k minimumI'm pretty sure I read that they are looking for an "average" of 65k per month into a Thai bank, from a foreign source.
If you live in Thailand for 8 months you would need to remit 97,500THB each of those months to "average" 65,000THB.
If you bring into Thailand more than you need, you can always take cash back to your home country when you return.

Medicare and nearly free meds on PBS is the main reason. The rest is just a bonusBased on what you were yearning for I would have thought Spain would be a lot cheaper than Australia, so I assume you miss Australia too. -

I'm looking at it seriously after 13 years here. 6 months in oz and 6 months here
So many things I miss about oz especially Beach fishing and the cheap price of deli food, cheese, wine etc.
I think it's far better to feel like a tourist in both countries than to feel trapped in either
I have no trouble renting my condo on lower Sukhumvit through air bnb so that all helps

Once a monthI am married and can live on 28K a month.
Need to find out more about the Reserve Bank in Australia transferring over pensions. Do they do this every two weeks or just once a month? -

Who in their right mind would drive a car in Thailand unless they are out in the sticks and have no form of public transport eg bts, mrt, baht bus etcThe old system is far worse because there are many people who swear on false affidavits.
I have seen many of these people who go for cheap meals like 20-30 baht and riding bicycles even though they have 65000 money transferred every month?
If they really have 65000 baht per month, they can even buy a small car.

Your partner will be happy you married her to save 25 k a month? Hmmmm...Yes, all of my credit card accounts are U.S. based and I have used them all extensively here in Thailand. All of my retirement benefits, including Social Security are direct deposited into my U.S. based Federal Credit Union.
Another kind forum member suggested marrying my Thai partner which would reduce the 65k baht to 40k baht and would essentially solve the problem of needing to transfer some money back to U.S. account every month. It would also open the possibility of using the 400K seasoned in a Thai bank option. It would also make my Thai partner happy (not a small thing...Lol).
Hope you find a workable solution, my friend. [emoji846]

Click on the link at bottom of OPI don't see itAverage is only for Marriage, not Retirement... AFAIK.
Section 2.22
"For retirement extensions of no more than 1 year evidence of average monthly income of B65,000 is required.
1. Evidence of pension. Same as 2 above,
2. Evidence of income from a foreign embassy or consulate."
-
Why asking? There is no "average" for the 65k, but transfer "no less than 65k"
'For retirement extensions of no more than 1 year evidence of average monthly income of B65,000 is required.'
It's in the OP attachment

What does an average of 65 k paid monthly mean? How can you average it out over 1 month? I would have thought perhaps over 12 months

the Thais have organised massive rallies right around the country as I'm typing. I can't believe what I'm seeing on TV.. All stations!
Oops I was day dreaming again.
Thais couldn't give a rats. They love the general and that's a fact

If this is for heart burn then save your money. Baking soda available in supermarkets is very effective. Just a teaspoon in a glass of water
Google it
