So that leaves Malaysia. Good infrastructure, world class shopping malls and lot of expats, so plenty of European food. Of course you'd have Arabs everywhere and if you've lived in a condo with Arab families you'll know it's almost worse than extended Chinese or Thai families. Easy visas.
Arabs everywhere? There are not many Arabs in Malaysia, are you trying to say Muslims? There are like 15,000 Arabs in the whole country. Easy visa, just what long stay visa in Malaysia is easy and inexpensive?

I don't think the OP meant "safe". Probably more like do the current rules allow it.

There are certainly night clubs and dance clubs but which of the ones in your link are sex outlets? I am not saying they don't exist but Siem Reap is no Pattaya or even a Chiang Mai. it used to be but to me it has changed.

I wonder how many people have died/will die because of all those draconian measures.
I know that people are postponing normal medical checks. I just got my flu shot last week (normal time in the Philippines is through June) and was told that very few are doing it this year. Also, from personal experience, my diet is going to hell. In what other ways do you think people will die due to the lockdowns? In Thailand probably thousands of people did not die simply because they were not driving.

if only we could all be tested and what if we had it already and get the paperwork showing we have pos antibodies thus little to none threat
Although it seems to make sense that antibodies do protect, but it has yet to be proven. I know that research is being done but the results are not in yet. It takes time.

I want to travel to Philippines but now staying in Thailand, wonder when it will be possible.
It seems Philippines keep having a lot of cases even though they had a super strict lockdown.
Not "had" but "have" a super strict lockdown. 110,000,000 population 1010 deaths, so a significant count but not overwhelming. I do trust the official numbers hear more than in Thailand. The Philippines is not so concerned about tourism as LOS is, even though the Philippines did have a higher percentage of tourists from China and Korea. Additionally, the Philippines has a huge number of overseas workers.

You're right of course - Cambodia is a dreadful place and we deadbeats are just looking for fresh meat to exploit. I wouldn't go there if I were you!
I was last in Siem Reap last November and I never saw one lady bar or sex worker. It was very different 10+ years ago but now, unless it is really hidden, I just don't see it there any more. PP is a different world.

Visa terms are better than Cambodia and so is the lifestyle. More varied options for healthcare in the Phil, but it is not on par with Thailand in that respect. Philippines is my ticket out of this money-grubbing land of razor toothed smiles.
All true. The Philippines is lacking in infrastructure compared to the Thailand at least as far as power and internet. In my condo, I get a whopping 2.5 Mbps and there are frequent power outages. On the plus side, even though the COVID restrictions were much worse than Thailand, immigration simply told everyone to just forget about extensions and overstays until 30 after the all clear is sounded. For most, visas are a series of 2 month, and one 6 month, extensions that are super easy to get. That can be done for 36 months and then a border run is required. In my case I am in the process of getting an SRRV visa. For anyone who was in the military of specified countries, will have to deposit $1500.00 and some fees. Then $10 per year, which can be paid for 3 years at a time, for renewing the visa card that is issued. Other than that there is no reporting. Considerately more for non-military affiliated but still half the price of Thailand. And of course, very high rate of English speaking people.

Consider the Philippines. Take a trip there first and see for yourself. Get as much info first before you take the plunge. Vietnam & Cambodia other options of course.
Except no one can go to the Philippines now. However bad it is/was in Thailand during Covid it is far worse in the Philippines. Still today 59 plus cannot leave their residences. only one person in a family can go shopping, no hotels open, no restaurants except take away, no bars, no or very limited domestic travel, etc.
Immigration/visas in the Philippines is much less hassle than in Thailand.

I now stay home and don't go anywhere until these stupid rules stop.

After a little more research it appears I did have this wrong. Masks are designed to protect the wearer.
I wish I could simply opt out and take my chances. Then there would be the argument if everybody thought like that and didn't wear masks the infection rate would increase.
No you were correct the first time. N95 masks are designed to protect the wearer but all the other ones protect against dust and pollution. The idea is that if you are infected and cough or sneeze, the large droplets will be contained by the mask.

Language learning is a talent. Some people have it and some don't. I have lived in foreign countries for more than 30 years and I suck at it. My half Asian daughter can learn a new language well in an amazingly short time. Probably most people are somewhere in-between.

I have made several purchases from Aliexpress recently. All of them are taking at least 45 days to arrive. They get shipped out within a day or so, go to Singapore and then onward. At this point there is a long delay between Singapore and Thailand which is at least a month with no updates to tracking. Anything else that I order elsewhere arrive in good time including Amazon from the US in a week or less. I can find no way to contact Aliexpress. Their Chat is with an AI. Incomplete example attached.
Does anyone know why Aliexpress is so slow?

I am currently in the Philippines. There are no favorite (favourite) 7-11s here that I can find. They seem like they have about 20% of the stock in the average Thai store.

I have the exact same unit, 3 years old. However, the water is not heating. Tried to do the reset but the elb button is so hard and cannot be push. Water pressure when I turned the faucet to cold is good but when I turned it to hot water, pressure is a little low.
Pls. Help on what to do.
I don't believe the ELB is a button at all. It illuminates when hot water is flowing. Make sure that the circuit breaker on the lower left is pushed up. For the reset, on top of the copper canister there are two small black buttons with a white dot on top. After turning off the power, press the two buttons down with something non-conductive (high voltage). It is hard to tell that anything has actually been depressed. If you have exception hearing you may here it click. After that set the temperature to low and try again. If it works for a few days, try setting it to medium and see if that works. If you can off the water, unscrew the inlet water connection on the bottom right of the unit and check or clean the little filter.
In my case, the filter was clean and the unit had to be replaced. My new one, same model, has a 5 year warranty.

How does "only citizens and residents of these countries may enter without 14 days quarantine" make sense?
in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Posted
Probably more correct, if you cannot prove where you have been for the last 14 days, a quarantine is required. Otherwise your safe country passport could have taken you to a non-safe country. It may also be possible to request a stamp if not regularly given.
