I can understand your frustration AAArdvark, although it's quite sensible your girlfriend acquires new skills as she is presently furloughed from her position as a Thai Airways Airline Captain.

Don't concern yourself too greatly about the left and right issue, it rarely has much relevance in day to day issues.

She gave up on piloting and is taking up brain surgery.

Fair enough, but why send a present that involved technical issues which seem to have been of concern to you, else you would not have written the OP?

Surely you could have sent something requiring zero technical expertise as a present?

I'm sorry but English is probably not your native language.  More than once I explained that the issues were NOT, got it NOT, technical.  They had to do with what up and down and left and right was.

The question for me is why he would send anything? Just send money and tell her to go to shop where they will explain everything after she buys whatever she needs.

Surely the OP should have known what was to come?

Because it was a present and I did not want to send money.

Again, I was not complaining and the issues were not technical.  They were up, down, right, left, big and little.

  4. The unit was replaced.  The filter was not dirty.  The earlier picture shows a white inlet contraption on lower right side.  The filter is under the part on top which is removable, after the water is stopped, by hand.  The other horizontal part of that is part with a screw head.  That is for a pressure release.

It takes the patience of a saint.

My Wife is very tech savvy, so I have no issue there. She still gets left and right mixed up though !

I'm forever assisting my Father (82 yrs old) with his MacBook and my Mum with her iPad and iPhone.

From frequently forgotten passwords, changed passwords, apps which wont log in, computer wont connect to the printer (over Wifi), TeamViewer deleted (so I can't login remotely and help)... the list is endless, I've spend hours and hours sorting out the Tech issues my parents encounter.

Every time I go home I have to pretty much start them off from scratch on their 'devices'... it takes time, patience and they generally forget everything I tell them and I just repeat it next time. But, I don't mind, it keeps them happy and allows them to contact me whenever they want, surf the internet, watch Netflix etc etc... they're happy = I'm happy.

Except she is 34 and left/right and big/little end is hardly high tech.

  6. Were you paying the Medicare monthly payments which are usually done by deduction from your social security payments?

They want you to prove that you either had been paying for social security or had a qualified insurance plan which would have exempted you.  If your insurance was with a non-US company, I doubt they would accept that.

Otherwise, millions of people start off with plain Medicare and then switch to either an Advantage plan or a Supplemental plan.  You should be able to access either Medicare or Social Security to verify that you were paying for Medicare.

  7. Don't forget the karat of the gold.  Like 10K, 14K, 18K, 20K, 22K and 24K.  Many Thai (and Asians in general) want only 24K.  However, 24K is very soft and not suitable for jewelry.  My GF just bought a very nice 1 baht chain with pendent for 27500.  I don't know and she didn't even know to ask what K it was.  From looking at it, it does not appear to my untrained eye, to be 24K.  Usually when I see 24K it looks like a darker gold than the others.  At 27500, it is definitely a 24K price.  But to an Isaan partially educated girl, you can't expect them to always make an good choice.

I put a new water tank in a house that I rented. No complaints from the landlord.

My method is still valid. Get a quote ask the landlord what they wish to do.

Whinging to most landlords gets nowhere regardless of your law.

OP is trying to fix the problem not find reasons not to.

As I have said, where I live there is no place to get a quote under the current conditions.  I can live with it for at least another month or I can try to fix it.  If I can get the manual it will cost me nothing and there will be no problems.
