autographed things -do you have any?
scorecard replied to Prubangboy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I had a pack of about 20 photos of self and Vietnam war army buddies taken just before / just after patrols / contacts. To me they were very valuable, emotional and meaninful photos. Two buddies in the photos were later killed in action. Many of my buddies had written their names and addresses on the back of the photos for a mooted reunion. I returned to OZ with enormous PTSD, anxiety, panic issues which my wife couldn't handle (don't blame her). She asked for a divorce and I agreed. Instantly the divorce was granted she removed all of my possessions from the house and threw them away, including the pack of photos. I cried when I discovered the photos were never to be seen again. -

QUOTE: My reasoning for not wanting to log in is because once I log in, there may be that message from them sitting there and it will start the 28 days clock on it, just like the guy in the video. It's like they have served it on me electronically. I'm lost; what specific 'message' are you referring to? Last time I entered Mygov / C.link was 3 or 4 mnths ago. I just logged on to Mygov 1537 LOS time 13 Nov 2023. I have no outstanding Mygov / C.link correspondence. I repeat I'm lost; what specific 'message' are you referring to? -

Example re Permanent Residency (or it's official nomenclature 'Thai Lifetime Certificate of Rsidency' (not to be confused with a Certificate of Residence letter to confirm your address in Thailand to get a Thai drivers license etc., which has the same name but is a totally different matter). I got Thai lifetime PR 27 years ago (yes ancient history and some things change or get adjusted). At that time the maximum number of foreigners who could be approved for lifetime PR in any one year was 50 per countrry. The year I got it the total number of approvals for applicants from my country was 5. -

Point taken. Four years baxk I did an AirAsia flight Chiang Mai to KL, 1.5 hr stopover in KL then KL to Sydney. I'm in a wheel chair. -Check-in at Chiang Mai, excellent service, no different to full-fare airline. -Meet at KL with w.chair, taken to AA lounge, excellent service, no different to full-fare airline. -Back to aircraft in KL then flight to Sysdney, excellent service, no different to full-fare airline. -On arrival in Sydney, excellent service no different to full-fare airline. Caring professional service to get me through passport, unpack/use my own wheelchair focused, friendly etc., then into the car service I had booked. Caring and focused, couldn't fault the AA service the whole trip. Three times during the flight KL to Sydney the AA purser came and quietly / politely asked If I needed help to get to the toilet, well done.

Overstayer Busted at Airport
scorecard replied to dddave's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Seems to me that there is a system which identifies arrials who are on a new passport and automatically links them to the previous in / out history. And there would be asystem which auto matically identiies people who have entered / depated previously using a different name. Surely every country has systems to prevent criminals / folks who have changed their name and received a new passport from easily entering any country. Surely a basic serious responsibility of all gov't's to protect the safety of it's citizens. -

If he's overstayed, then he's overstayed! End of story! Old then new, not in immigration system is not relevant. -

But a farang guy on the next bar stool told him lost passport works. So I guess his next gem will be 'immigration is corrupt and they don't respect the laws'. -

Questions about divorce in Thailand (married abroad)
scorecard replied to TPDH's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Good question. And I would wonder what legal knowledge the folks at the amphur office have and whether they are qualified / authorized to mke comments about any setlement terms. Why? A buddys Thai son decided to write his will. He did some research and wrote his will which bequeathed most of his assets to his Thai wife. They took the will to the Amphur office to be registered (they had been told this was required by Thai law). The Amphur officer said the will was not acceptable by Thai law because he must leave 100,000Baht to his wife's mother. Young man consulted a qualified lawyer who said there is no such law and the lawyer accompanied them bck to the amphur office. Lawyer asked the amphur officer to show proof that "...he must leave 100,000Baht to his wife's mother". She just insisted "this is Thai law". Further discussion revealed that the amphur lady had no legal qualification nor training in the law. Lawyer insisted it was not Thai law and insisted on speaking to the snr. officer at the amphur. Lawyer then insisted that the snr officer prove that it's Thai law. Snr. officer spoke privately to the lady officer involved the said to the Thai man "But she's just trying to help you". Lawyer again insisted "it's not the law". Officer then said "Yes I know it's not the law but I think it's nice idea." LAyer then directed a comment at the Snr. Officer (manager) saying "Your staff are making illegal coments to the local public". Lawyer also asked why the officer was telling people that 'Thai wills have to be registered at the amphur office'. Again "well I think it's a good idea." Lawyer spoke further to the snr. officer (manager)and said he would request that the Thai law council do an 'audit' of processes etc., at that amphur office. Snr amphur officer (manager) panicked and said he would investgate the subject and he apparently did, and he set rules prohibiting amphur staff from making their own rules etc. Hence my comment that any comments on the divorce settlement by the amphur staff should be confirmed by a credible lawyer. -

Note that isreali women have to do national service same as males. -
I wonder if there's any specific education campaign attached to this. For example, serious education methods to make Thai people aware that they must stop at marked pedestrain crossings when pedestrians start to walk on the crossing and wait until the pedestrian(s) have stepped foot on the opposite gutter etc. Son is well aware of this subject from when he went to high school in Sinagpore where zebra crossing and pedestrians are strongly respected. In our extended family these been a number of discussions on this point. My Thai son has told the rellies many times'you have to stop...' most refuse to accept what he says: -'It's not a lie, not possile..' -'When you walk you have to take care of yourself, it's not the responsibility of other people...' -'It cannot be a law because it delays traffic...' -and MANY folks 'I don't agree with this law so I ignore it...'

And think serioust whether you want to rent when there's no proper written / signed / witnessed contract. There's thousands of properties available for rent everywhere in LOS with proper documentation etc. Keep looking for your own long-term peace of mind. -
And some will be proud to be labelled bogan, their choice of course.
