  1. Or, as explained by our loud family lady boy...to make the family look important and look rich.
  2. And my guess (repeat guess) is that 18 % of voters (half of that 36% of all voters) would vote for trump and praise him, all wearing their MAGA hats while he burned their houses down and pushed for their gay sons or daughters to be beheaded and passed laws for dark skinned folks to be denied any meaningful education and kept at a survival income level and bashed violentry by the police at will and with no recourse. The final 18% , the small % of all voters who have difficulty to count past 10.
  3. Thanks. I drive very little nowadays, my Thai son or his wife drive for family outings. Son is well aware of 'farang / double prices' and refuses to accept this. When there's discussions about a family outing son will refuse to discuss /to go where he's aware that the venue / location has double pricing.
  4. My hope is that he runs, the dems finally get a coherent/logical and focused act together and trump (and therefore the GOP) gets totally decimated.
  5. "Maj-Gen xxxxx xxxxx, deputy spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, said today (Thursday) that the voluntary repatriation of the refugees, from a temporary shelter in Mae Sot district of Tak province, has put an end to the army’s mission to provide safety and safe refuge to more than 12,000 refugees housed in 15 temporary shelters in Mae Sot and Mae Ramat districts of Tak, which are close to the Myanmar border. She said that many of the refugees, who fled recent offensives by Myanmar troops against rebel forces entrenched in border areas, have steadily returned to Myanmar of their own volition when they realised that the fighting had abated." Less than appropriate analysis, less than caring, less than intelligent comment... All from an official high ranking spokesperson. I've taught hundreds of young Myanmar late teenagers / early twenties uni students in Thai universities. All of them highly intelligent balanced young folks, keen students, poite, well behaved, good grades, all focused on their studies. A couple of years back several of them, all came from the same district that folks in their families were sought out and murdered by the rouge army. Why, because it had been discovered they were studying in Bkk on UN scholarships. So their families were punished by being murdered. My heart yearns for them. And the same age Thais in the classes had no interest whatever in the Burmese students, they ignored them, they avoided having to work with the always high performing Burmese students. And 90% of the Thai students were totally unaware of what's happening across the border. And just 2 weeks ago, video footage on Thai news services showing the Thai PM rushing to meet, hug, embrace the leader of the Burmese ilitary. The military brotherhood, sickening. And especially when you're aware of the supposed hate for the Burmese miitary in regad to the wars between Thailand and Burma 200 years ago.
  6. No, just talking silly. My name is in the family dark blue cover Tabien Baan book because I have a Certificate of Residence for Thailand - PR (26+ years).
  7. Nobody is suggesting the current lot aren't guilty of a whole lot of unethical things and also guilty of lack of development of Thailand. Being realistic about the power bases in play removing them is not so easy but I bellieve the time will come when the the populace will get brave enough to throw them out and brave enough to punish them but I'm not holding my breath. None of what's happening right now means that the paymaster who did break laws and do unethical things should be forgotten. Br broke laws.
  8. But... I have a pink card and a dark blue covered Tabien Baan book. So am I on the list for investigaion?
  9. Don't throw it back at me. I didn't say prayut was lilly white. He's far from it, he's done / not done many things which have damaged Thailand, damaged the development of democracy in / for Thailand, and more...
  10. Well i've done some study in this area. One think I learned very clearly is don't put people into textbook definition boxes. Human beings are individuals.
  11. True but beware of total rip offs. I discovered a high proile international law form was handling renewal of my work permits (repeat work permits) and their fee was 120,000Baht every year. Totally outrageous. I spoke to our admin. manager, she shared she had asked the law firm previously to reduce the fee and they refused, they also told her: - By Thai law new and renewal WPs have to be handled by a law firm. - Must be a lawyer because of the complex negotiations involved with the labour office. Total BS, there is no negotiation whatever. - Their law firm was the only firm authorised to handle new and renewal work permits. A quick search found a local business agency (with good reviews) who did the whole things for about 3,000Baht. They were fast, efficient, well organized and pleasant to deal with. I asked my admin. manager to sit at my desk, I called the law firm (plenty of English) and told them that we would not be using their firm ever again for any purpose. My admin. manager was in tears and having a heart attack. I sent a hand delivered confirmation that we would not be using their services again for any purpose. The law firm replied with an offer to reduce their fees by 5%. Ignored.
  12. "...Well if an ex Pm can get booted for cooking fried rice on tv..." It was a little ore complicated than that and he should have been attending to PM duires not spening hours shopping for ingredients etc (all videod) and at the time many folks mentioned the dish he cooked was very simple, PM duties should have been higher on his priorities. He was also well known for ignoring laws, regulations, protocols; he 'did it my way' screw the law etc.
  13. "...Admittedly PR in Thailand is somewhat valuable, and in a way it is "real" Permanent, unlike in say Singapore, where they make you re-apply every 5 years and will eventually deny renewal. ..." Nice point. I got Thai PR 26+ years ago. As you're aware it is permanent. The only time a PR holder needs to go to immigration is: - To replace their PR book when it's full of departing and arrival passport stamps. - To get an exit/re-entry stamp in regard to travel out of Thailand and return. In both cases above there is no 're-assessment' of the PR status. Some will say there's not enough benefits, and it's too expensive. Both points are valid. Everybody has their own situation and their own opinion of these matters. For me the high value is having a 99.9% guarantee I won't ever be seperated from my Thai family because of denial of renewal of a visa and/or changes in visa requirements which prohibits me from renewal of a visa, etc.
  14. Why are you menioning your will? Personal will wasn't mentioned ever in the past. Keep in mind that A Certificae of Residence is about YOU. It's not a status which extends to other family members. Why would Thai immigration / the Thai government want to have any details of your will? In fact why would they want to know if you have or don't have a will?
  15. Here's a thought. My Thai son loves sport and he's done well at several sports. He has 3 kids who alllove sports and he enourages them to participate in a lot of competitions. If one of his kids have a win, son and his wife congratlate the child and they sit for a while and analsye why they won. But of course all 3 kids cannot win all the time. Son and his wife quickly say: - 'Never mind, there's more competitions coming up and we have learned how to train better etc.' - 'Nobody can be a champion all the time and never get second or 5th or whatever, that's not realistic, some days out bodies work better than other days. - Some people (adult and kids) are really good at some sports and many other things in life (example cooking) but are not so good at other things. That's life. - 'Other kids need to win sometimes and made their mummy and daddy proud, just like you. It helps.
  16. So she's popular...
  17. Sure but I'm gessing someone, where needed, will claim the hand count and the count using the new 'equipment' was corrupted.
  18. Don't agree, and that's not the whole story.
  19. Does everybody get a real wallet, will it have a nice imprint 'thaksin loves you'.
  20. He's a big $ property devloper. One guess why he he wants to get into gov't.
  21. There's also a chance that he doesn't know how to appraoch it in a structed way, no furniture it seems (no wardrobe, no additional drawers etc.), so where do you 'put away' the clothes etc. Does he have a laptop, if so does he have a suitable table as a work place? Are there things he likes to search for on the net? could you slowly use such likes as a connector between you and him? Do you sometimes share meals with him? If so, do you bring food home for him without asking what he would like? Does he have a smartphone? If yes do you ever call him and have perhaps quick conversations 'Can you please check if the balcony door is closed? Or call him and say "I'm coming home soon and bringing dinner with me, what would you like for dinner?" Just rush in and clean it all up might insult him or produce a negative like 'don't touch my room', which is not building any connections to him.
