  1. Why did 'frenchy' not consider/realize that his activities would eventually come unstuck?
  2. Would PTT in the back of the service centre (7/11 in front) where vehicles turn left off the superhighway to go into Big C Don Chan be a good option?
  3. For Honda Civic (early model), current battery is approaching 8 years old and the water in the battery is topped up regularly. Battery is often dead. Not looking for further discussion, just some suggestions please where to buy / get installed an OK quality reasonable price replacement battery, in CM. Thanks
  4. I add more, the usufruct is recorded in detail on the back of the land title document (chanut) which shows my Thai son as the sole 'owner' of the property. I have a copy of both sides of the chanut.
  5. I have a usufruct on my thai son's lande title. It expired when I die. Son or his kids who are the joint/equal beneficiaries when he dies cannot sell or change the property without my written permission.
  6. There's another possibility; register a Thai company and have the company buy/own the land and buildings. This is possible but is a bit involved. You can only own 49% of the shares in the company however in some cases you can record yourself as the GM etc., of the company and record in the company documents that the GM is the only person who can make decisions / sign any document on behalf of the company. There more complications, and from time to time there's 'noise' from the gov't that this situation will be outlawed.
  7. Australians (and Australian laws/regulations) also very attuned to the issues and needs of disabled people. Never ever seen someone fully able get out of a car in a disabled parking spot. The Australian Dept., of Veterans Affairs is ranked top/close to top of world rankings* in terms of it's attitudes, policies and support offerings. (For Aussies; the RSL has lifted it's game enormously in the last couple of decades and is now ranked 'best in the world' for its' wonderful veterans villages and facilities.) Just one e.g. when I was back in Sydney I called the local community hospital to ask if I could make an appointment. The nurse asked for some basic personal details then said "I'm guessing from your age you might be a Vietnam veteran'. I confirmed that was true. She then said 'I can call the DVA taxi service to pick you up at home, bring you to the hospital and then later take you home again, would you like me to call? I confirmed. She called me back a few minutes later and said 'the DVA taxi is on it's way now to pick you up. About 1.5 km from the hospital the DVA driver made a quick call, then shared with me 'a nurse is coming now to the driveway area to meet you'. Sure enough very pleasant focused nurse was there are waiting and with polite driver got my w'chair unfolded and got me seated. Nurse then checked with the DVA driver to confirm what she had to do to get a DVA taxi to the hospital to take me home. Nurse wheeled me inside, a few seconds later a junior politely said 'it's quite trek back to the hospital coffee shop can I go and get you a coffee or tea? I responded 'Yes, if you let me pay for it and one for you too'. Junior nurse giggled and said 'it's all free'. Sure enough after a scan and then quick discussion with the doctor snr. nurse said 'DVA taxi will be here in 3 or 4 minutes' .
  8. Seems like a problem in the making re sharing of: electric bills, food costs, cleaning, neighbors concerned about security....
  9. And, was the property concerned the only suitable property? And no other agents exist? In reality probably dozens of places available and suitable.
  10. There's no specific answer to your question, especially as to whether disability cards issued by other countries are recognised by Thai immigration in places where 'extensions' are handled. But I will share one experience; I needed to replace my close to full Permanent Resident book at CW. I started to get out of the taxi at the CW entrance (no help whatever from the bored / annoyed taxi driver, a lady in uniform ran over took my hand and said in English "Where are you going, I will help". I explained and shower her my near full PR book.(Taxi driver now saying things about mai mee wella .... - I have no time for this.) Lady officer quickly got my wheelchair out of the front seat, then quickly around to the rear door and got me into the chair and comfortable. She wheeled me to the GF lift and at the appropriate floor wheeled me to the cubicle where they take care of re-issueing PR books. She wrote her name and mobile no on a slip of paper and gave it to the PR officer and said 'please call me when it's all finished'. The helpful officer left the the PR officer made comments about 'have to take care of yourself'. All done, she gave me the slip of paper and asked 'do you have mobile', a hint to 'call her yourself' I did call and 5 minutes later the helpful lady officer reappeared and took me down to the taxi area, got me into the back seat and w'chair into the front seat, then said 'are you comfortable?' I thanked her and went home.
  11. - Yes the system has changed, a lot. - I went back after being out of OZ for around 23 years to do the 2 year penance, arrived in OZ December 2019. - Nothing said at the passport desk on arrival. - Day after I arrived I started the application for the OAP. First payment received less than 3 weeks later. - The first day I went to C'link to get a CRN (C'link Reference number) the pleasant lady said 'do you still have your Medicare card?' - I said 'No misplaced years ago'. - She responded 'do you have the number? I said 'no'. - She responded 'I will do a search, then said 'can't be found, maybe too old, never mind' and at the same time a letter printed out on her desk which she gave to me and said 'If you need medical help/care use this letter and the new number on the letter, you'll get a new plastic card in the post about 2 weeks'. - The new plastic card arrived about 4 days later, used it shortly after, no questions asked.
  12. I suspect you're meaning the tabien baan book you will be entered in after you have received your final/full approval of holding a Certificate of Residence (PR). From my own experience; - There is no requirement that you have any ownership in any residence in Thailand. either before or after you get final PR approval. - There is no requirement that you live at a residential address mentioned in your PR application before or after you get your PR (certificate of Residence) approval. - There is no requirement that you be entered in the tabien baan where you do reside. - It can be any Tabien Baan book, anywhere. After I got my PR approval I was initially entered in the Tabien Baan book of a Thai friend who I was not related to in any way and I didn't live at his Tabien Baan address, as below: At the Amphur office where this was processed the lady asked one question: - "What Tabien Baan are you going to be entered in?" - I responded 'I don't know' however my Thai friend stepped forward quickly and said can his name go in my Tabien Baan? - Amphur lady said 'do you your Tabien Baan here now?' - Thai friend instantly gave her the pages, she took the pages without comment or questions, she did a 1 second quick scan then started to write my name and new PR Thai Id number on the sheets*. - Nothing mentioned in regard to any future requirements. *This was when Tabien Baan records were all hand written. Now it's a computerised book but all the comments above still apply.
  13. He claimed many years back that nobody gave him money / he didn't accept money from others, but many people had given him land, houses furniture, many vehicles and more. No doubt he has easy/quick access to other methods / to advice re other methods of handling / storing cash. What do you believe?
  14. He can swear all he likes about anything, I wouldn't believe him if he said one plus one is two.
  15. Netanyahoo; as always selfish and arrogant, pos.
  16. Probably different at every police station which handles this. When my last 5 year renewal was due I couldn't get to to LOS from Australia. I was golding the RED book in Australia. My Thai son went to see the very pleasant cop who handles this at the main Chiang Mai station and explained. Cop instantly said 'this is not a big problem, I suggest: - Ask your father to mail to RED book to you, registered mail. - Don't be concerned how long it takes to arrive here in CM. - When it does arrive bring the book in and i'll complete the details for a 5 yr renewal, pay the fee and I'll give you receipt. DON't bring a photo, I need to see the photo and the person before we use it. - The new photo can wait until your father returns to CM, but come in quickly and well add the new photo. -12 months later son went back to see the appropriate cop, who instantly said 'don't be worried it can wait until he returns and I realize right now that's complicated'. - 16 months later I did return to CM when the Covid- 19 'Pass' became easier. - Next day we went the police station. - Son opened the door and walked in followed by me. -The cop came over to the door quickly waied and shook my hand. - Cop said with a big smile 'ahh my professsor you come home'. Meanwhile he had his hand on my son's shoulder. - Ten minutes later we departed the office, new photo pasted in and a small note written on the receipt.
  17. Seems that bribery and corruption pretty much always a possibility. Do keep in mind that for some offences the law allows the BIB a range of fines for them to levy on you (wild example 200 to 1,000Baht, etc).
  18. A deal ... thaksin and who? Seems to me the only deal possible would be between thaksin and the judiciary / judicial processes. Would / could the judiciary agree to a deal to cancel charges against him? If they did it would make the judiciary look highly corrupt / full of collusion / lacking in credibility. Surely not a good move.
  19. "....he welcomed foreigners..." Really?
  20. Possibly YES. On the other hand would you just sit and watch Putin inflicting severe pain and death to the rest of the world?
  21. Don't need to match yours. Everybody / everywhere is entitled to live their chosen lifestyle as long as they're not creating danger or problems for others. Life is diversity.
  22. Do they have staff who can give proper recommendations (from a proper chart) of the BTU output needed according to room measurements etc?
  23. What country are we talking about? If it's Australia. my first pension payment was the standard rate for that day, taking into consideration no of years from 16 and assets and income statement. And I get the full 2 times per year cost of living adjustment.
  24. Lots of assumptions and speculations by people who aren't well informed and mixing of different government agencies and nothing official about anything. Wait for the real and specific information issued by a proper authority.
