Lack of gratitude in a Thai relationship
scorecard replied to Kenny202's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I'll put that another way. I lived in Sth. Pattaya for several years, with Thai wife and son, when I worked at Mar Tha Put. Several times farang made comments to my wife (she spoke perfect English, a Dr. of Medicine with a Ph.D. in Sociology from Auatralia) about being a gully (very nasty word meaning prositute). Also nasty comments to my son about his pro mother etc. Worst of all i had an older fat brit guy ring my door bell. I went to the gate, he quickly explained that he carefully scans/monitors the public notice board at Friendship supermarket for new ads and therefore tel. numbers new to him. (We had put a notice on the notie board and for a reason I can't remeber we put our addresss.) He continued "I can be quick, just wondering if you have any contacts for 12 year old virgin girls". My wife heard him, she came out of the house with her cell phone and yelled at him, In english 'I've just called the police and my son has taken your photo!' The brit guy fled. Bottom line, many times when I lived in Pattay I thought about farang ai had seen / noticed in supermarkets etc 'I wouldn't allow you to ever set foot in my house'. Not trying to be elitist/superior, just my thoughts on life and some of the scaly deadbeats who live in Pattaya. -

Agree, over many eyrs I've heard so many stories of farang expecting to be treated as a superior, as a saviour etc. Worst i've come across (proven to be true) was a yank who was married to Thai lady in Pattaya (all reports the lady was a hard worker, san a successful shop to support the farang. Farang regularly brought girls home from bars, arrive home at 2 a.m. and yell at the wife to get out of the bed, used the bed for sex with bar girl, next morning demanded his wife cook breakfast for him and the bar girl. Kids seeing all of this. Wife made a plan, arranged transport, had packing all well organized in advance. When farang out at a bar her brother arrived with 2 pick ups trucks and 2nd driver, everything loaded quickly and gone, back to Roi Et. Farang called and demanded she return and cook his meals and wash his clothes. SHe refused. Week or so later farang drove to Roi ET, he had been there before. On arrival at her village her several brothers appeared, beat him up, (bad beating but nothing more) put him in his car, drove the car about 10 km out of the village and abandoned him. Farnag never contacted his wife gain. And apparently he returned to US thinking he had been badly done by. -

First farang wife, in Oz, never said thanks (or please) once in many years after marriage. Also quickly snatched things out of my hand; e.g. documents. money and just getting some jam from the jam jar, before I'm finished she'd strongly snatch the jam jar away and put it somwhere out of my reach. Before marriage not a problem. Thai wife always polite and pleasant, always please and thank you. -
My regular 'egg' style is curried egg(s). Boil the egg(s), soft or hard, slice the egg with an egg slicer ot however, add a soup spoon of butter or margarine and salt and pepper and then mix in a decent amount of western style curry powder. Serve on toast or in sandwich (toasted/no toast). Great snack (for me).

I use 10 mg, as suggested by my well experienced doctor, no known short or long-term side effects, not addictive. I take 1 tab 30-40 minutes before bed, sound asleep within 5 to 10 mnutes, good sleep, no 'hangover'. I buy on line from well established US supplier. Takes about 10 to 14 days. Tpt costs incl, minimal because it's shared in bulk until arrival in LOS. About 380Baht for 120 x 10 mg tabs includes delivery to the door. Same supplier also sells 5 mg. I think it's against the website rules to quote supplier details, PM to me if you want supplier name/website address etc.

Have you asked if they will accept an official document with a photo issued in another country, e.g. Thai drivers license. I came across this when I did the 'proof of identity' for Centrelink. I was sitting with the C'link lady, I was going through my plastic cards; she said 'what's that?' I gave her my Thai drivers license, she noted 'has clear photo, name and purpose is in English as well as Thai', then she said 'This is fine and she entered it into their system, all accepted. She explained 'where it was issued is not relevant, it identified you that's all that's needed. -

No problem I know this situation well; 12 years as regional (all Asia) and Thailand director for an Internatioal Mangement Consultantancy, sudden flights and pressure par for the course. (Real example; HK office calls "We made a proposal to a Gov't agency for an organizational audit, change recommendations and upgrade of design then then implementtion of several Management policies & processes and performance processes, about US$3M. They just called, they like our presentation and they want a further presentation/discussion this afternoon up to 8:00 pm to the ultimate minister involved. Presentation must be by a western consultant with a Ph.D. in organization theory and practice. Today is final day, cannot be extended.". So a scramble, partner meets me at Bkk airport with cabin bag - change of clothes, Travel agent gets a seat on mid afernoon flight. I arrive at boarding gate 5 minutes before boarding closed. HK Snr staff meet me at HK airport with the initial presentation copy and we conduct further discussion re of the questions etc asked at first presentation in the car. We drive direct to Gov't office. Second presentation/discussion finished at 7:30 pm. We wait in exec. lounge area, 7:45 called back into main room, minsiter tells us we got the contract. Meanwhile I'm juggling calls to Jakarta, close to winning a sizeable conract but potential customer wants something adjusted and has added more scope and can I suggest some different words for xxxx xxxx, their owner doesn't like the original words, and more. Meanwhile staff in Bkk are struggling to complete an implemenation plan for a contract already won with a very big demanding Thai company. Meanwhile I'm getting calls from my Thai son, he's at HS in Singapore and wants to discuss what subjects he should register for re next semester and has to be submitted today. This is life.

DIL uses Flash and Kerry every day for small packages she sends to her online buyers. all very simple. Sometimes one of these couriers pick up say 10 small packages, all completed, she pays using QR code, courier gone in less than 10 minutes. She also uses (for some kages / locations) Thai Post and we have a PO very close to the house. Again all completed with their hi-tech counter equipment very quickly, again pay using QR code. But overall she prefere Flash fro the speed to get the package to the customer. No doubt this changes by location.

Special Feature: What happens when a foreigner dies in Thailand???

But a simple will could help by providing clear details of: 1). Your wishes re funeral/cremation etc. 2). Who should/should not be informed in your home country that you have passed on. And contact details. 3). Name and contact details of the person who has agreed to be the executor of your will. Simple will templates are easy to find on the WWW. If the details in the will are only as per points 1)., 2)., and 3). above the will can be prepared, signed and witnessed etc. in maybe 10 - 20 minutes. -

"I don't have any children and I would not necessarily want my next of kin making any arrangements." So make a simple will, you can easily find simple templates on the WWW for guidance about the overll format. in your case perhaps the content you include could be; 1). Distribution of your assets. 2). your wishes re your funeral/cremation etc. 3). Who should be informed of your passing in your home country (and in Thailand), and include as much current detail you can about address, telephone no, e.mail address of family abroad. BUT REMEBERING THAT THE CONTENT OF YOUR WILL IS TOTALLY UP TO YOU AND NOT ACCORDING TO THE SUGGESTED SUBJECTS THAT YOU MIGHT FIND ON A BASIC WILL TEMPLATE. None of the above is complicated, doesn't really take much time to complete and it's doesn't need lawyer English. It can be prepared as a Word document or it can be hand written. Just ensure it's properly signed, witnessed and dated, and the executor is named in the will, and ensure the executor/family etc., have a copy of the will. NOTE: Some will try to tell you the will must be prepared by a lawyer - NOT TRUE. and some will try to tell you the will must be registered (E.G. at the local amphur office) - AGAIN NOT REQUIRED AT ALL. -

Or maybe you should make a simple will (templates are easy to find on the WWW) with an agreed executor (typically someone in the Thai family - if there is one), or a close farang friend and ensure the executor has a copy of the will etc. -

Point taken. I did mention 'some embassies'. Somewhere in this discussion there's the point that foreigners living here should make some arrangements for when they pass on and they should inform someone (Thai family, close friend etc.) what these arrangements are, common sense. Yes I realize some won't bother; too lazy, too stupid, too busy with their entertainments... etc. -

Specter of Thaksin’s tax saga returns to haunt Thailand
scorecard replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The whole list has been included in these threads and in several other media many times. Not wasting my time to find these lists again. "Somehow he parlayed that into owning a national telecommunications company..." Let's get that into some realistic/accurate words: he was handed a telecoms license by General Suntorn one of the thug military trio that conducted a violent coup and installed one of the 3 thug generals as the PM. This was just after the coup. And further, this was at a time when the law stated that all telecoms activities must be owned/operated by the state. Tthere was no bidding etc., and no other licenses. And thaksin charged very high rates to use his telecom services. -

Thai actress and mother held on remand in alleged Ponzi scheme scandal

Agreed, however about 4 years gao our neighbor (married to a farang) told my Thai son she was going to a meeting that evening to get in quick on a very high return investment op. Next day she confirmed/she showed a scrawled receipt for 500,000Baht. Receipt showed no details at all of who/what entity received the money, signature unreadable. No big dividend as promised at end of 30 days, nor 60, nor 90 days. Neighbor tells my Thai son her farang husband has noticed 500,000Baht missing from bankbooks. He calls the police. Police come and quickly tell them they already have 40 / 50 names of other people scammed. No leads whatever. Farang approaches a lawyer he's used before and who he trusts. Lawyer laughs and says 'forget it, the scam operators will never be found and there's a 50-50 chance they have paid to be 'untraceable' and never found'. The twist; the Thai lady is a retired lawyer, practiced law for 30 years. -
If it's easy to get to the miinistry office at Din Daeng, there's a 'complaints' office on the ground floor. Can't miss it, big signage. From above "...what documentation is required from the Company, " The 'documents' required are the basic every day start up and ongoing documents. Don't let anybody tell you that the documents are very complex and you need a lawyer to do this. Totally not true.
