Been mentioned before, he's privately very wealthy, the family wealth goes back decades. -
Many ASEAN NOW members have a serious negative attitude to one member in the Australian home country forum.H e has been warned by the mods several time. I put him on ignore a couple of years ago. I've just been alerted to the fact he's reading my posts and replying (I don't see that because I put him on ignore). Other members tell me he's responding to my posts with inappropriate comments. Again I don't see his comments because i put him on ignore. Further, 2 or 3 weeks ago he wrote a 6 or 7 line summary about me, with numerous errors, and with mistakes about Australian Centrelink and the Australian Dept. Of Veterans Affairs benefits policies. Is it possible please block him from opening any posts that I submit? Thank you.

Expats in Thailand urged not to worry about negative income tax
scorecard replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Quote from above: "This will be for Thai nationals only, so why on earth would any expat worry? This really is a non-news item."resident and non-resident". Keep in mind that many resident and non=resident farang have Thai families and many will be thinking about the best possible future for their wives and their children. Meaning, hopefully, that some / many much more capable Thais eventually (tomorrow) get into senior positions and develop / implement policies and actions which make the foundations of valuable developments and improvements. Perhaps the first item is everything to do with much better education, student centered / analytical, etc. My Thai son and his Thai wife (4 kids) talk about this all the time and it means a great deal to me too. -

Australian Aged Pension

When in Sydney many many years ago I called the older Oz line and said I wanted some advice about portability. The stubborn female office responded quickly 'there's no such thing, do you really expect Australia to pay you in another currency?' and she hng up. I politely hung up and called again, different pleasant office, I shared what had happened 2 minutes earlier. She responded 'please give me 2 minutes and I can identify who you spoke to, please don't hang up. About 5 minutes later a more senior officer came on the line and strongly apologized. Then she gave me me a lot of information and advice re portability. She shared that the errant officer had a track record of rudeness and wrong answer. About 3 days later the errant officer called me and apologised and shared that she would finish work that day, she had been sacked. Snr officer called very late same day to check that the errant officer had called me and apologized. -

Agreed, please read my repost (first posted about 2hrs ago): For the ex Navy guy there's probably 2 options: 1. The Service Pension, administered by the DVA (in reality the qualifying requirements etc., are 99% the same as the OAP and that includes the return to Oz for 2 years to gain portability (receive the payments anywhere in the world) for life. This is administered by the DVA Hobart office (DVA International office). Give them a call, very friendly and helpful officers, always clear answers. They don't bite. But note all calls are recorded so be careful what you say. DVA don't have free number. Their website opening page gives their telephone number (in Oz) and their email contact address. 2. The OAP, look through the Centrelink online Fact Sheets, that will quickly prove the OAP is available abroad (after the return to Oz for 2 years to gain portability, if the person meets the qualifying requirements). I did this as have many others now resident here in Thailand and in other countries. For pensioners living abroad payments are on the 4 weekly cycle. I received my 4 weekly payment about 2 hours ago into my K Bank savings account. Already been receiving 4 weekly payments into my K Bank savings account for about 5 years. For more details don't hesitate to call Centrelink on their toll free number from Thailand. The free call number from Thailand is: Thailand 001 800 611 4136 This will connect you to Centrelink in Hobart (Centrelink international office) Don't hesitate to call, they don't bite. But note all calls are recorded so be careful what you say. -

Further, this means that there's many people occupying minister positions, very senior operational positions and positions at all levels who have little or no knowledge, and no capability or valuable experience in that position / subject. Further, this also means there's much less chance of innovation or serious valuable improvements. All of this is the reverse in Singapore; the very best people occupy all the ministerial positions and the senior positions in ministries and the positive results are obvious. Re Thailand the most obvious negative example is the PM, she has no capability and it shows; she's lost. Thailand suffers. -
Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
scorecard replied to Lestat777's topic in Health and Medicine
True. No connection. The Thai Social Security Act in English is at this website: https://www.mol.go.th/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/07/social_security_act_2533_sso_1.pdf Section 39 is the relevant section. -

And approval for Permanent Residency is not automatic, a high % of applicants are rejected. On a different angle Social Security membership / benefits are NOT automatic because of having Permanent Residence. -
Short term volunteering; visas and work permits
scorecard replied to jnp73's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Don't assume that NGO organizations or gov't offices / ministries / agencies are fully informed / are experts re visas and work permits, they aren't. But that doesn't stop them from making statements on such subjects, usually wrong. My own example, during the process to get my Thai Social Security (SSO) Injury and SIckness benefits continued after I retired. I showed them my pink Thai ID card. SSO regional senior asked how I got the pink card. I responded ' because i have Thai Permanent Residence'. He responded 'there's no such thing so this card is a fake. -

-Who is organizing the classes? -Are they being paid to organize the classes? -Are the classes organized by existing levels of capability? -Who 'recruits' the students? -Is the 'teacher' qualified? -Is there are progressive testing? -Who provides/pays for books / materials used? -
WOW, There's ample evidence he knew there was a violent riot going on and people were being hurt and ne knew there was raged comments about hanging the VP and more. But he sat in the oval office watching all of this on TV and did nothing even though many senior staff begged him to act. He's complicit, as sure as Saturday follows Friday.

Elon Musk Accused of Spying on Amber Heard Amid Cheating Suspicions

Musk, in my opinion is a genius, and he's also crazy and capable of some dangerous stuff. I hope there's legal controls which stop him from unlimited financial support for trump. X been off my radar for some time.
