In both cases mentioned the total distance of the line is very short (e.g. city to Shanghai International airport - 33 kilometers) so the train has to start the slow down process very quickly after it departs the city / airport station or it wouldn't be able to stop at the destination. Done that trip several times, yes it's fast. On one trip took my 18 year old Thai son who wouldn't believe the speeds advertised. Within 10 seconds of departing the Shanghai city station he was convinced.

But how successful is that? Many cops and other officials have powerful contacts who will do their bidding for a price. -
Is Thailand’s healthcare more affordable than in the West?
scorecard replied to CharlieH's topic in Insurance in Thailand
In the UK and in many European countries there national health schemes, some free, some with small fees, Thailand is not like that. There's several 'national' schemes for Thai citizens and mostly close to free, but these schemes are not available to tourists. On the other hand tourists can walk into government hospitals to seek treatment, some hospitals will give care to tourists, some won't and nothing you can do to change that. -

But not all hospitals have reasonable / cheap pricing. Make yourself aware which private hospitals have very expensive, eye watering pricing. Some do. In reality the reasonably priced hospitals are generally the same quality as the outrageously expensive places. -

12? Really? And you have very little real information about weight, cubic size, etc. You said companies, I'm mentioned Thai Post. my son has had some real experience with Thai Post for moving 2 motorcycles and several suitcases / boxes of personal clothing, work equipment etc., and their charges were nowhere near as high as 10 to 15,000Bah.

Your guess?

They do move 'big bikes', they took my Thai sons big Honda bike from Chiang Mai to just outside of Pattaya. They quickly came to our house in CM, quotation and contract agreed, later same day came and wrapped the bike and took it away. About 36 hrs later son got a call asking when they could deliver the bike to him at the destination and checking the full address, landmarks etc. From memory 300Baht. Son was very impressed with their service. They also move cars.

Suggest you talk to Thai Post. They can basically move anything: 1 suitcase / whole house of furniture and effect. Perhaps better to approach a bigger PO. There's been many previous reports here on AN sharing complete satisfaction with their service. They will come and and discuss your needs and give a reasonable quotation, If required they will do the packing and they are careful to ensure little damage They are good communicators / service oriented / coordination oriented. They also move cars and motor cycles. A year back they moved a scooter from Pattaya to Chiang Mai 200Baht. Worth checking.

I flew in and out of KAi Tak airport many times on work assignments. My office in bkk used a travel agent. The agency called me as soon as my company lodged a request for a for a ticket for me. First time they has seen my name. Travel agency lady asked me if I had ever flown in/out of Kai tak before, I said no. She continued... the airport is located in a small area enclosed by tall buildings. The pilot has to do several quick 90 degree turns to line up the aircraft to land. She continued... don't be alarmed, it's unusual but there's never been a crash, enjoy your flight.

Other peoples money. Reminds me of a family discussion several years back, my Thai son trying to convince his in laws that all money spent by gov't agencies etc., comes from taxation receipts. His in laws refuse to accept this, they insist that all money needed to pay salaries and all operating expenses of gov't ministries, police etc., comes from the new cash Baht money printed every day by the Bank of Thailand. They believe the Bank of Thailand has a section which tallies what Baht cash is needed for the next day and that amount of Baht (regardless of total) is printed fresh by the printing dept., of the Bank of Thailand. They insist this is a daily process.

Trump Joins the Axis. NATO Dead. WW111 Imminent?
scorecard replied to Old Croc's topic in Political Soapbox
Agree and further, seems to me many US Americans are seeing a child at the helm without common sense or logic. Is impeachment the only way to get a sitting president totally removed? On what typical grounds would that work and what support for the impeachment would be needed? And how long would it take? From my understanding if trump was impeached at a level meaning dismissal from office, Vance would automatically become president. But for how long: a full 4 year term, or??? And do US Americans see vance as a good alternative? -
Re-entry Visa
scorecard replied to Nowaythatsreal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sure, however note that Thai PR holders must have an exit / re-entry stamp (in their passport and their PR book), but they are NOT available at the airport. For PR holders exit / re-entry stamps (both books) must be obtained at an immigration office prior to travel. -
