I'm pretty sure its part of some sort of standard psychological control technique , the purpose of which is to promote obedience and compliance and a sense of "belonging" amongst the uniform wearers, and to remind the common people who is in charge. It no doubt originates from the military, who know a thing or two about getting people to do as they are told,. It is no accident that it happens regularly, and I think there is a requirement for them to wear uniforms on days of national significance and when being visited by certain "V.I.Ps" I could never understand the militaries obsession with polished boots and shiny buttons etc but its obviously part of the same control technique , worked well enough in the 1st and 2nd world war to persuade soldiers to leave the relative safety of the trenches or landing craft and run head first into machine gun fire and almost certain death, just because someone in "authority" told them to. So I would guess its quite effective in helping to control civil servants and as such serves to facilitate keeping the wider population in check.

I'll settle for that and Im sure plenty of others will too

Not sure its purely an age issue, I and most of my friends are at least 60 years of age and I don't know anybody with strong anti cannabis views, not surprising really as I am quite selective who I associate with. I think the strong anti cannabis views amongst the uneducated on this forum are due to a personality disorder which leads certain unfortunate people to unquestioningly believe anything they are told by governments, There are plenty of examples of this recently regarding the covid situatuion where certain members of society had the fear of god put into them regarding masks , vaccinations and other restrictions. These people really do need to wise up .....and shut up

Can't help laughing at the TVF stalwarts bemoaning the prescence of those they consider undesirable and advocating police checks when issuing visas. What you say is correct. but i wonder, how many of these outraged netizens actually exist? There certainly wasn't many examples quoted in the op or the linked article We all know there's millions of snowflakes out there waiting to take offence at anything they can dream up and social media can often cause the "offence" to go viral but that doesn't appear to have actually happened here. I may be getting cynical in my old age, but it appears to me that a head line like " Netizens fury over Dahmer costume" is much more likely to initiate a response on here than a headline like "Man dressed as dahmer spotted" " Netizens fury/ outrage " is often used used to spice up mundane articles it doesn't seem to matter whether anybody was outraged or not I don't think its legally necessary for any body to actually have been outraged before the phrase is used by the media I feel we are being manipulated but I'm not sure to what end

You can choose to take your advice from who ever you wish, as can anybody else. Only time will tell if the advice one followed was correct. I don't doubt some will regret the decisions they have made, unfortunately no claims for compensation will be entertained, that was made clear from the start,
