  1. I'm no expert, and you could well be right , either way hearing the two words, could, maybe be cause for concern, especially when we hear them used together . We all need to be careful out there A couple of years ago the mrs' daughter and boyfriend decided to buy a honda scoopy, ( had to be brand new of course) Daughter had never worked and boyfriend had a total of about 3 weeks work under his belt, Mrs refused to act as guarantor, but there was a couple in the village who seem to be prepared to guarantee anything for anybody for a small fee., (they have now disappeared not surprisingly) Shortly afterwards , as predicted, boyfriend packs his job in, or gets sacked, , around 3 months later the repo guys turn up and take it away, As far as I know , that was the end of the matter presumably because they successfully recovered the vehicle. However a few weeks prior to the repossession the pair of them in their "wisdom" had decided to visit the local casino over the border in Cambodia. ( its only about 20 min drive) The inevitable happened and they lost all their money. So the two geniuses then nip back over the border into Thailand and go straight to a motor bike shop, where the owner immediately agrees to give them 20,000 baht for the bike ( with no documents) then its back to the casino to "win their money back" + they needed another 10,000 to cover the "interest" when collecting the bike back from the dealer. Of course the inevitable happened and they lost the lot ! returned home a few days later somewhat shamefaced but expecting yours truly to help out ! I refused as did everybody else in the family, except granny who somehow came up with the cash. The first point being that even a vehicle without documents can be sold, This one was probably destined for cambodia, The second point being that Low IQ + easy credit coupled with chronic laziness, is a recipe for disaster. I would add that this appears to be all too common around here, no doubt due at least in part to the proximity of the casino, its not always limited to motor cycles, people have lost their land and their houses too
  2. Probably purely coincidental that in Thai the word for "debt" and the word for "running away and disappearing" is very very similar, only the presence of a tonal marker distinguishes between the written words and a slight difference in tone distinguishes between the spoken words, I don't have a Thai keyboard anymore but the word is pronounced "Nee" when the rising tone is heard it means to do a disappearing act when spoken with a high tone ( i think) it refers to a financial debt. Worth keeping one's ears open for either of these words

    Shopee

I only ever used shopee for buying weed, no problems other than the J&T driver getting lost once. I don't use it anymore since they seem to have taken down all the weed listings There have been a few scams reported, and many of the sellers now advise that you make a video of yourself opening the package. Also be very careful if a package arrives that you did not order, (cash on delivery normally) best course of action is to refuse to accept it, happened to my mrs a few times and the courier guy had no problems with returning it to the depot or wherever. Said it was a common occurrence I think what happens in these cases is the scammers that send it to you claim that it was a simple posting error and ask you to return the "expensive" goods that you have supposedly received , normally however the package is in fact empty. They then claim that you must have kept the goods and demand payment
  4. He expected things to be better than in previous elections when it comes to violence but expected the election laws to be flouted by certain influential groups. About which he and his "team" would do absolutely nothing, of course, because he wants to remain in his position, at least until he's got his money back
  5. I really couldn't care less, I have no intention of sitting in the back of a pick up during Songkran or at any other time. Nothing to do with the law. or any kind of risk a risk assessment etc etc Its a common sense thing. simple as that. I would try to discourage friends and family from doing the same, and I could understand others acting in a similar manner . As for other people it is entirely up to them, and I won't be losing any sleep over the matter and neither should anybody else. legislation is no substitute for common sense. Having said that 99% of water fights between people on pick ups do tend to take place at slower speeds than normal often at walking speed as part of some sort of procession , unlike the day to day situation with pick-ups often driving at ridiculous speeds when carrying people in the back Despite all the hype every year, there does not seem to be anymore deaths on the road during the two holiday periods of Songkran and New year than the "normal " national average, maybe indeed as a result of the hype who knows? However I do believe there should be a campaign to prevent people throwing water at passing motorcyclists for obvious reasons
  6. Probably one of many reasons why china is not exactly renowned as a tourist hot spot
  7. As somebody has already said, "good luck with that " Whenever I order food I specify "no sugar please" they invariably look at me like I am absolutely crazy, I've even tried telling them I'm diabetic (I'm not) and they still give me that look. I do have a sweet tooth and enjoy a bar of chocolate or an ice cream as much as anybody, but I am conscious of how much sugar is being almost forced upon us and try to avoid it when possible. I stopped adding it to tea and coffee years ago, things tasted a bit strange for a few days but I soon got used to it, 1 week later I found I could not stand the taste of either when sugar had been added As far as I am aware there is no need to consume any sugar at all in ones diet , unlike salt for example which I believe is required in small amounts In my opinion sugar is a nasty almost addictive substance that has been exploited by the food industry for probably 100+ years. I am convinced it is responsible for a host of health problems with rotten teeth and obesity being the least of ones worries, From what I have seen diabetes is a life changing and very unpleasant condition when diagnosed, and even worse , potentially ultimately fatal when undiagnosed which is often the case
  8. maybe delusions of grandeur https://www.doctena.be/en/doctor/dr_alexandre_kamnerdsiri-408 according to this link he's a GP the "consultant" status appears to be something he's added himself Specialises in sexual medicine apparently Does that mean he's a pox doctor lol Unusually high profile if you ask me , just google his name if you can be bothered, I'm either getting old or just old fashioned but I'm sure my GP doesn't have a web page like this https://www.drwk.be/ Unusual middle name for a Thai
  9. You should have told her you could not speak or understand english
  10. Things had been all quiet on the cannabis front for months since the original media frenzy. Could the resurgence of all this rubbish have anything to do with the upcoming elections ? To think otherwise would be naive. chuwits name should always be preceded by the words "convicted felon" or something similar. His new found social conscience is nothing short of sickening. Bet he's doing nicely out of it all though
  11. lol I just watched that Charlatan "Mor Pla" conduct a kind of exorcism on the news on national TV, and I remember a few years ago some government office underwent a similar ritual on the orders of Prayut himself I think. For god's sake its 2023 You couldn't make this stuff up, but I guarantee at least 95% of Thais actually believe it
  12. "Violence and Addiction" Really?? I was going to say "you couldn't make it up" but they have, and continue to do so. It is beyond belief that they print this rubbish , but then again that is what MSM does. What is really worrying is that (some) people actually believe it
  13. Not mistaken, but only partially informed, like most regarding this subject ! Kids have been selling pot in schools since time immemorial. It's just that it wasn't considered newsworthy before. I'm wondering how you never saw it yourself, but then again I seriously doubt you had many friends
  14. There are 1,000,000's of reports exactly like this , and yet , as I have said before, there are many people who would deny you the relief that cannabis provides. Any quack who knowingly allows somebody to ingest that amount of paracetamol on a daily basis should be struck off, as they all know the side effects, The same goes for the quacks handing out, Antidepressants, Barbiturates, Valium, etc etc As far as I am concerned, those responsible for the prohibition of cannabis,( which in the USA even prohibited any medical research) and those that continue to promote the hysteria, are guilty of the biggest injustice ever inflicted on mankind. They make me want to puke
  15. I have always wondered what is on those screens, and why it takes them so long to read them
  16. So do most incommers to the UK these days, most never see immigration officers at all, the first english face they see is either a lefty " human rights" lawyer or the receptionist at their allocated free 4* hotel. I really don't have an issue with the way things are done here and I have never had a problem other than the length of the queues occasionally.
  17. I doubt very much if any immigration officers in the uk at airports etc speak any foreign language, For investigative purposes the relevant departments would be generally be using hired in translators as and when required. Understandable really when you consider the number of languages concerned. I recently read a report about one street in the UK where 70 different languages are being spoken
  18. I'm surprised this idiot is still breathing, he has obviously been warned off his usual targets and sees this as a relatively safe way of maintaining his media profile, (like many others). But, I would not be surprised if he was involved in some sort of fatal "accident" in the future
  19. Probably not, the quacks only prescribe nasty noxious addictive chemicals provided by big pharma, 1 million housewives on valium in the uk. you think that's ok? I wouldn't trust any of them. Doctors that is, not housewives
  20. I find it bizarre that some seek to deny you these benefits
  21. Sorry, I did not mean to challenge your intellect with my analogy, have you thought of speaking to an English teacher
  22. " don't you even think,,,,," Telling people what to think eh? Pack it in ! you are not talking to your missis It was a simple analogy to demonstrate a simple creatures fear of the unknown, Hardly off topic. But on reflection I suppose it may appear so , to someone that can't understand a simple analogy You should read it again , but a bit slower this time are you American?
  23. 37,000 sounds very reasonable, If I remember correctly, When I bought one for the missis I paid 30,000 for the basic 110 almost 20 years ago, Still going strong too. although to be fair its only done about 70,000 km !! Never really had a problem , hasn't been registered for a few years and rarely goes out the village these days so it will probably outlast me. Not sure why anybody would want a leccy starter though. Not much power though so if you intend riding 2=up much I'd gp for the 125
  24. Don't seem to meet many of them anymore (except on here)
  25. I wouldn't hold your breath, The few people who claim to have encountered difficulties with immigration never seem to have done anything wrong ever, ( According to them ), I'm sure they have problems everywhere they go and in most aspects of their lives. Some people are just wrong'uns and trouble seems to follow them
