  1. Looks like the "hang 'em high" crowd has got a new recruit ! What is it with people like you ?
  2. That's somewhat illogical , smoking weed and smoking tobacco are not mutually exclusive . I can't come up with a reason for banning them , Its obviously not out of any genuine concern for public health , There is obviously money to be made here so why hasn't this been exploited ? Usually these golden "opportunities" are gifted to certain elite influential families King Power being one example , Why hasn't this been claimed by the next in line ? May be they are still arguing about who's turn it is .
  3. An average of 3 Funerals per month for nine years ? Are you kidding ? !! That has to be some sort of record ! Could get quite expensive too, depending on how much you put in the envelope
  4. Up until about 10 years ago I always used ME non O visas and never had to show any financial requirements at all I could get them from Liverpool or Hull, Then when I was 49 years old I was refused and told I needed to be 50. The following year I was told they were no longer available. and the year after I think e-visas started and they were not offered , The E- visa website definitely indicates they are available now though. however one of the listed requirements appears to be the dreaded 40,000/400.000 health insurance, although it is a sort of generic page and some of the other so called required documents are not always required, this issue can often be navigated by uploading a jpeg saying "not applicable" I've just booked a flight and will be needing a visa soon so I may give it a try
  5. Is this actually for real ?? Well if it is and stupid people like this actually do exist then why stop there, maybe send them off for a few days chopping sugar cane. After they have enjoyed that part of thai culture the women could spend a few shifts in an Issan massage parlour / karaoke joint, and the guys could visit in the capacity of "customer" Follow that up with a job at home pro or in a chinese factory for a full days and maybe round the experience off with a few days military service and an option to spend a day or two taxi driving in Bangkok and that's a full weeks itinerary that some idiots are going to be falling over themselves to sign up for, just make sure its advertised as "carbon neutral" "sustainable" and of course open to people of all sexual persuasions, Think I might take this to that "dragons den" TV show could be on to a winner lol
  6. That's the Whole point, there is no "actual answer" Its Thailand and that's just how things work here, Like many here you seem to feel a little insecure once removed from your nanny state environment . You would be better advised to keep your eyes open and see how it all works here, and also listen to what you are told by people with long term experience.. There is little to no point in trying to establish "what the law actually says" as in most instances, this will be decided by whichever police officer is dealing with you at the time, and he certainly won't be the slightest bit interested in your interpretation of the law, It is a boring topic and about as much use as "Should I wear a helmet" ?
  7. A very depressing yet predictable comment ! This seems to be a standard diversionary and deflecting tactic employed by the usual "progressive" left wing wokies whenever those of certain ethnicities are under scrutiny, The OP is about the reaction of Thai nationals to dangerous and anti-social behaviour by foreigners in Thailand.. It is not about The "shocking" way a TVF member correctly identified their nationality using their name If their names had been used to correctly identify them as "White" British for example, would you still have felt the need to virtue signal. and make a cheap and pathetic racism jibe at a member who accurately identified them using their surnames ? No I thought not, However if you wish to go further off topic don't let me stop you speculating about how their long term stay in Thailand might be at least in part funded by the state benefits that they receive ( I don't care about the drug dealing)
  8. Who could blame them ? And it will be the same for the UK and all the other European countries that have been "invaded"
  9. Totally different from their "caring and attentive" western counterparts. In the UK for example, all children are reared by saint like parents and naturally develop into perfect little angels who never put a foot wrong.
  10. I think its safe to say that the vast majority of cannabis grown in Thailand since time immemorial has had nothing to do with "cbd"
  11. I can assure you he was not growing it for "medical" use. but as you said nothing to see here.
  12. Its Thailand , I don't see the Irony of anything the police do, You should not apply "western logic" especially were the police are concerned. Could you please explain what you mean by "keep on keeping on"
  13. Maybe they know what you are like and avoid mentioning it in your presence. I can well imagine you lecturing them. Oh by the way Cannabis is neither dangerous or addictive. Its high time you educated yourself about this, especially now ! There are more alcoholics in Thailand particularly amongst the expat community. Do your friends parents ever talk about that? nah thought not
  14. and what fantastic achievements have you made since giving up ?
  15. I've yet to hear anything negative about it from any Thai I know. Brother in Law and his wife are a bit strait laced he's a police captain and she's some sort of clinician, they just named their new cows Gancha and Kratom, The other brother in law , also police, has been growing it for years , The youngest of the wifes brothers also police, has given his son 2 Rai of land to grow it on too. I was at a load of funerals and a good few weddings over the last 6 months and me and the missis used to play a game to see who would be first to spot the plant , it was very rare that there was no plant lol. The OP must be in the "bible belt"
  16. Some people should not be allowed out on their own. have you forgotten where you are ? This is Thailand pal, you need to learn to keep your eyes open and to trust nobody. Anybody selling anything anywhere needs to be regarded with a healthy suspicion , This includes but is not limited to, Lotus, Big C , PTT , PEA, 7/11 , Global , Thai Watsadoo , Homepro, Do-home , etc. all chinese hardware shops, any local markets, mom and pop shops and of course anything connected to the motor, trade.including main dealers You also need to keep your wits about you when dealing with Banks, Insurance companies and hospitals. and be very wary when dealing with Teachers, Immigration and the Police, infact anybody wearing a uniform or receiving a government salary. Exercise caution when dealing with "tradesmen" especially electricians. and maintain vigilance when paying in hotels , restaurants and of course bars Its a battlefield out there! with thousands of them lurking in the shadows, just waiting to rip you off, with or without the help of your missis . Always check your change . and don't forget to be extra alert around drug dealers lol
  17. The sad fact is, for many it probably does , We have all heard of the "placebo effect" its a well known medical phenomenon, in this case it has a much stronger effect , as its generally accompanied by the reluctance to accept that one has paid over the odds for something, I remember the advert for Stella lager "reassuringly expensive" was the phrase they used . Throw in the encouragement of a few "experts" and a bit of herd mentality and many sadly fall for it Same with the shape and colour of the bottle and even the label and the name printed on it , none of that has come about by accident, packaging is a key part of "Advertising and Marketing" which, like hypnosis, seems to have a profound effect on certain people people, and again herd mentality does the rest These days there are also the excruciatingly annoying internet influencers spreading the b/s too . Despite what many believe, the alcohol in VSOP Brandy , Absolute Vodka, and Lao Khao is chemically identical However, as I said , some people are more resistant to hypnosis than others, this would explain why some, like us, were happy with 400bt lumps of brickweed , But did you notice the pack like mentality with all the negative comments that were posted regarding brickweed , by people who were obviously subconsciously regretting paying over the odds for their designer bud . Did you also notice that It was about that time that a few "experts" appeared on here, reinforcing the benefits of "top price weed" and some also telling us how difficult it was to grow "properly"?
  18. When all this started, if i remember correctly some were charging around 1000 per gram, and astonishingly some people were actually paying that much for it ! Unbelievable, It must be the first time that a substance actually became more expensive after it was legalised , Even 250 baht per gram is, as you rightly say, absolute madness. any body suggesting otherwise is probably involved in the supply, either that or they have just been conditioned to paying ridiculous prices, due to coming from countries where prohibition has artificially inflated the price of a plant which is no more difficult to grow than a tomato plant or any other vegetable, and as such, in my opinion, should be priced accordingly. Likewise if you end up with a bit too much its no big deal to give a bit away to "friends and family" just like when the mango trees all flower together , or just bin it lol Had it never been illegal in the first place, it would probably be sold quietly in the local markets at around 5 baht a bag, by the same old women who sell the betel nuts and accompanying paraphernalia. As far as I 'm concerned that's kind of how it should be. Can't say I'm a fan of the designer, neon lit "dispensaries" Just to put things into perspective , I'm In the Uk at the moment and an ounce of weed is costing me £200 which is not much more than 250bt a gram. It breaks my heart after paying 400 bt for 100g of brick People charging or promoting those sort of prices are not doing us any favours
  19. "Due to stiff resistance from Muslim communities" !! What on earth has it got to do with them ? I doubt its entire communities just a few very vocal conservative clerics
  20. You and all the others really need to let this go. This is of no consequence to any of you, life is too short so move on. Or, is the constant outrage that some claim to feel, really just a form of virtue signalling, desperately trying to convince the rest of us that you would not do exctly the same if you were in his position ?
  21. "Kids" ??? She is 21 a grown adult, they were fighting in Vietnam at 19 the younger generations these days are pathetic
  22. Have you actually been in a hotel ? Have you actually been to Thailand ? You seem to be misinformed
