I understand.  Conflict started centuries before.  But who fired the first shot that STARTED the war.  Jeez....there is conflict all over the world.  Not all of it ends up in war.

Not all conflicts are/were backed by two unique world powers trying to exercise dominance over each other using surrogate actors. The “war” was not started by a single shot but by the events leading up to that shot.

100% understand.  But who fired the first shot?  Who initiated the fighting?  Hint? It wasn't the South.

And who backed them?  From my link:

And who's refusing to fully comply with the UN sanctions now?  Hint?  See above.

I do not think you 100% understand that the CONFLICT started BEFORE the war and that both sides were  complicit.

Brave man, methinks he'll be looking for another job soon.

I don’t think so. Views are changing quickly. Thailand got the war on drugs through treaties with the USA, it was not in the national or cultural dna (compare with Laos - no post Vietnam war money for Laos, no war on drugs).

What are you smoking? You do infact NEED to go back to your home country to apply for a new METV after it expires. Moving somewhere means you can permanently stay there, not just being there for 9 months before going back to your home country.

I'm talking out the people who claim to live in Thailand who are Under 50, Not working/going to school and Single. There's no Visa to serve its purpose for that except Tourist visa.

    Get a clue.

Work permit... just because you have a work permit DOES NOT mean you have to work hard... 15 mins a day was good for me!

    Thailand Elite.

Two simple solutions to your issue. Your rigid outlook limits your creative options. My wife and I upped and moved here 11 yrs ago (ages 41 and 42) and have never gone home for immigration reasons, deaths and births and weddings only.

Stop. Japan is considering increasing it's military due to missiles flying over their sovereign territory!!!!  Easy to research that.

North Korea has been destabilizing this area long before Trump came along.  Can't blame everything on him.

Dude, get a grip. WHY are NK missiles flying over Japan now and not for the last 50-ish years... Hint: what has changed? Easy to research that!!

HK has been boxed into its own little playground, only fracking up its own people until 45 grabbed the wooden spoon.

You are aware the international community had been going after NK for decades.  The entire UN Security council approved sanctions.  Yet, you single out the US.  We are part of a global community after all.

YOU asked who... only one answer... Not even SK has felt it necessary to bombastically threaten a country who is clearly barely capable of wiping their own assets... (can't say the other word!!).

Sanctions, diplomacy, negotiation - all good. Those strategies have kept the peace in the region for over half a century. Along comes 45 and whoa... gotta stir that pot - how can he go wrong bullying a nation which no one cares for; a "rogue nation"; great distraction.

Kim is the latest dictator, his brother, then father preceded him. All of them purged anyone who  opposed their right to absolute power. His father also  punished their families.

Are you attempting to claim that Un does not speak to or consult anyone else in his country? There are plenty of educated sycophants in NK willing to kiss the Un-butt and support his twisted regime; same as any other country...

If it fell into Japanese territory, that's an act of war.  Beyond an invasion.  Sadly, Japan is considering increasing it's military due to NK"s actions.  As is SK.  Great job NK!

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts...

Japan is considering increasing its military due to 45's rhetoric escalating a situation which was a non-starter before he opened his twitter machine.

With regards to the number of times they've attacked South Korea, they are hardly sending a message of leave us alone or else.  Just found out they assassinated Park's wife.  Great

Strange place to go if you are trying to defend the USA's actions... assassinations anyone?

They are BOTH horrible actors on the world stage. One has the firepower to end the world, the other can spit on their neighbours and maybe hit somewhere in the Pacific...

Jeez.  Have to lay it out. Unreal.  Please read the article before commenting.  You're only making yourself look foolish.  And invasion is when something unwanted enters your space.  Such as artillery, troops, etc. LOL

I could go on and on.  Why are you defending these guys so strongly?

    Article read. Read BEFORE commenting.

in·va·sion  inˈvāZHən/  noun - an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity. The definition of invasion that I understand is not "when something unwanted enters your space."

I am defending their sovereign right to defend themselves and to be <deleted> actors on the world stage - same as I would defend the USA's right to behave in the same manor, as they have.

You have no idea what Kim will or will not do. You have no assurances that he will not miscalculate, take rash actions, or go off on tangent.

North Korea have attacked South Korea plenty of times, would take quite an effort ignoring the many incidents over the years, some pretty serious - but I sure you're up to the task. If anything, it is South Korea's restraint that's to be commended.

It would be helpful for the discussion if the distinction between Kim and North Korea as a whole would be addressed. North Koreans do not have a say in how their country is run, do not enjoy free access to information - and to head of the expected nonsense- no, this is nothing like the "West". So it's not about what North Korea wants, but rather about what Kim wants. If someone wants to argue that Kim's personal political survival is of a critical or moral importance justifying the risk of a nuclear war, or even a conventional one, we'll have to disagree.

Nor do we have any idea of what 45 will or will not do. We have no assurances that he will not miscalculate (but we do have evidence that he does miscalculate frequently), take rash actions (but we do have evidence that he does take rash actions frequently) or go off on a tangent (but we do have evidence that he does take bizarre tangents frequently).

I trust South Korea's judgement. they have been living with the vagaries of NK leadership for more than 50 years. They seem to have a good handle on the mindset of their ethnic kin and neighbours.

I can see your point about free access to information. The US establishment media does a much better job of shaping what it wants the public to hear while purporting to broadcast "news". Plus 45 has been opening up all lines of communication between the public and government departments and making it much easier for facts (scientific, policy, information, content of bills before the legislature) to come out.

If someone wants to argue that 45's attempts at distracting the public from his gross incompetence and ongoing investigations by pandering to his base and the mainstream media by inflaming a lying-dogs situation, is of critical or moral importance, justifying the risk of nuclear or conventional war, we will have to disagree.
