  1. With a visa no problem going to Kengtung overland. Done it and from memory took best part of 5 hours with a break half way.
  2. Burma made a bold claim they would open to tourism Q1 next year but only to select parts but it did include Tachilek and Kengtung so maybe there's hope. Others cities listed were Kawthong, Myeik, Dawei.
  3. Went past an hour ago and if you are approaching from town side it's behind the massive advertising hoarding at the lights. There was a dozen motors out front so likely open for business.
  4. Haven't ventured inside but there is an Art in Paradise on the 1006. If leaving town it's immediately beyond the intersection with the 3029 on your right side. https://www.facebook.com/artinparadise.cnx/ (18.7797141, 99.0432217)
  5. India now included in countries that don't need to quarantine. That said the country isn't open to tourism yet.
  6. Giorgio's is permanently closed following the death of the man himself. Some of the staff have moved to the sister restaurant Da Antonio beside Empress hotel.
  7. Not on a tourist visa as they are not being issued at present and existing multi year visas are suspended. India is supposed to be opening up November 15 but no word on visas yet. There is one option today and that is charter flight to Goa which started October 15 which requires a special 'charter visa' but you'll have to research but expect majority of charters to originate in Europe. Should you manage to get into India you would be looking at a 7 day sandbox deal on return here if you flew direct. Via KL don't know what you would be looking at. There are calls for India to be added to the 'list of 46' but as of today it's not.
  8. And don't forget there is also a government app that has details of your Covid vaccines. It's called Mor Prom. Take a look.
  9. Dr Chonika works at Grace and has been my dentist for 15 years and she's excellent.
  10. Not Pfizer and not McCormick but there is an option for some Thai 'spouses or carers'. Copy & pasted from a local Facebook page that appeared yesterday: AstraZeneca vaccination for British nationals living in Chiang Mai The British Chamber of Commerce Thailand has been able to access a quota of vaccines for British nationals living in all regions of Thailand including Chiang Mai. It will almost definitely be AstraZeneca vaccine. Those interested can register through this link here: https://members.bccthai.com/bcct/asp/application.asp?TpID=99 The focus will be on the following groups in order of preference: - British nationals over the age of 60 yrs or with 7 stated illnesses and their Thai spouses or carers. - British nationals of all ages - Nationals of other countries especially those over the age of 60 yrs or with 7 stated illnesses and their Thai spouses or carers.
  11. I bought my Milwaukee 18v at Nana Screw 50mts east of Chiang Puak Gate but Global House has far more tools but cant vouch for reciprocating saw selection.
  12. 18v certainly recommended. Pretty sure you'll only need the one tool if you are willing to pay the 6,000baht or so for a quality product. Regarding batteries duration obviously depends on the load but for the 30cm trees I cut I used 2 full batteries but recharge is pretty swift (60-90mins) so no big deal but second battery should be considered. **If you order online be careful as some tools are sold minus the battery so better to buy locally to ensure compatibility.
  13. Just to add that Sawzall is more elongated in design and typically requires 2 hands to safely use whereas the product I linked is more compact and can easily be used with one hand and more suited around the garden unless your lopping redwoods.
  14. Mine is 18v which a more robust tool plus Milwaukee put out a quality product which you pay for. I've cut tree trunks to 30cm diameter with it no problem but for just pruning you could get away with 12v which would save you some but 18v gives you a tool for most jobs. Makita is another popular brand here worth looking at.
  15. I purchased a Milwaukee reciprocating saw in Chiang Mai to do some heavy trimming of trees and it worked a treat. One I bought was a cased option and came with a spare battery. I paid around 8,000 baht but there are cheaper options on lazada for 5-6,000 baht. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/12v-milwaukee-fuel-chz-0-i261653904-s402716576.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.1.279a5e58IcyV4T&search=1
  16. Appointments not issued or necessary. I was there last week mid morning to pick up some forms and grand total of 4 folks inside. I was there again Monday afternoon and 2 in front of me doing retirement extensions. Out in 50 minutes.
  17. Every premier league game is shown on Pulse. What they do is add additional channels at the foot of the sports section on the day so if your side isn't on Sky or BT scroll down and you'll find them. If you don't see a sequence of games listed just reboot and they will appear. ive just got a new box - cheeky sods charged me 3,500 - and I don't see the French and German channels anymore and playback is as its always been around 24 hours. Unaware of v2.
  18. All good. Just happened to be talking to a couple of folks yesterday who were deliberating the Lamphun hospital offer.
  19. Simply providing additional information on one particular hospital.
  20. The above Lamphun hospital is quoting Q1 next year for vaccination but they want paying before window closes.
  21. One was the application, second was acceptance of 90 day rule and third I don't actually recall. Simply signed and dated. These forms were previously found in front of the main entrance but now are in the tent where there are boxes numbered accordingly.
  22. Cant confirm but mine today was 23 days so leeway certainly there.
  23. My turn for retirement extension renewal and took care of it this afternoon. I did stop off last week to check latest requirements and pick up forms 1,2 and 3 from the tent to the left of main entrance. Picked up the 2 x bank documents (I applied last week) at 11.00 and wandered into immigration at 1320. Documents checked in the tent and proceeded to the information counter and docs checked once more and given a number. 10 minute wait then called up and docs checked a third time and handed over 1,900baht. Called up for a photo then passport retuned at 14.10. Nobody else turned up for retirement renewal in the time I was there.
