Thailand Elite: Which Plan?
Tropposurfer replied to aldriglikvid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Joe is correct 100%. I have an Elite and NO ONE pays, NO ONE, until the application for the Visa is fully approved and comfirmed for issuance by Thai Immigration Office (TIO). When you arrive in BKK (stamps are placed in your passport to coincide with and show you have an Elite version of a retirement visa). NOTE: Use ONLY the link Joe gave you to make your application ... should you decide to apply. The other is NOT correct. It may have changed in duration of wait for an IO response of yay or nay to Elite about your application. Mine took about 4 - 5 weeks (I was in Aussie). Elite will contact you and give you the news. -

I will refrain from ridiculing the poster and assume your are simply a new virgin tourist and world traveller ... Go to a print shop, get a colour same size photo of ID page and visa page put back to back and laminate.

Anwar Ibrahim sworn in as Malaysian PM after post-election deadlock
Tropposurfer replied to Scott's topic in World News
He seems to be a man of moderate leanings and cognisant of the importance and figural need for social equity and justice. lets hope he's not a wolf in sheep's clothing. -
Yeah the nation that spawned more misinformation lies, insane conspiracy theories, denied common sense, denied accepted; proven medical practices than God Himself did such a stellar job with Covid huh. Over a million dead! Turned the matter of self and social healthcare into a dumb-as-a-brick narcissistic/paranoid/deranged narrative that it was all about 'my freedom'!! A leftist communist cabal plot to destroy American's freedom. The use of a photo by you of a gay couple in also noted. Given the text post you attached with it this photo selection is of no surprise.

Foreign tourist rescued from drowning at Kata Beach
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
They get trained by Aussie Lifesaving Association twice a year, face to face. Aussie lifeguards are the best in the world. I've attending these training's personally and they're top-notch. BUT, if you have poor standards locally e.g. fitness, rescue-board, and swimming skills AND lack of AAA equipment, and the time and money to have lifeguards train to use them with Masters level skill, then, add to that people who can't swim in anything but still lake waters entering turbulent moving water then a lotta people are gunna get into difficulty and some of those will drown. Add again holiday partying with alcohol in the body and people gunna die. In Aussie, where I come from, the numbers of foreigners each summer who drown or rescued on the well known tourist areas is staggering and we have the best lifeguard observation and response system and personnel in the world. -
Autopsy report awaited on man found dead in Bangkok condo
Tropposurfer replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I read the article and nowhere does it say he had died of Covid 19. His cause of death is yet to be determined. To those who seem incapable of posting without vomiting unproven, anti-scientific, false information, lies, and vague innuendo about vaccines being ineffective, some sort of rort, or big business conspiratorial hoax I ask you to consider that without vaccines being developed for all sorts of viruses in previous decades nearly none of us would have lasted beyond early childhood to post such utter ignorant nonsense. -
Dental clinic recommendation (Bangkok)
Tropposurfer replied to Jaunty's topic in Health and Medicine
Bangkok Dental Spa, Soi 19 SUKHUMVIT (same street as T21 - Asok BTS Dr Lily Poncheron ... superb. I won't go to anyone else. https://bangkokdentalspa.com/ She rebuilt almost my entire mouth, in my past life only minimally tended, and somewhat neglected. Never an issue with anything she has done, every piece of work has lasted perfectly, annoying sporadic molar pains no longer (never had any of my wisdoms out previously in life), perfect natural smile, fantastic implants, entire front teeth crowned (top & bottom), all old amalgam filling removed and gold fused-porcelain ones installed. She is a Master dentist, speaks good English (has served ... exclusively ... falangs for many years in her Sukhumvit practice). Tell her Philip referred you???? -
I'm a Benz man (have been for about 15 years or so). From 30 year to 5 year old, to new cars. I guess interior preference is like most things up to personal likes and dislikes. I prefer the Benz interiors. The new models are vastly improved upon from previous generations and to me almost beyond belief. Seats are much more comfortable in their GLE range than previous SUV offerings. Some folks love B'mmers. I find them a tab too complex in operation but that's just me. I like an elegance to both exterior and interior with not too much bling. Audis have beautiful interiors but a bit too austere for me. The other Euro marques have their styles. I find Italian cars a tad more flamboyant in their interiors with German cars less so. Honda's are an elegantly interior'd vehicle and very well put together. Their exteriors I am not always enamoured with though (bit too Transformer-like for me). I have the same feeling about Lexus. Yeah I know they are great cars but paying 200K AUD for a Japanese car unless its a super-sports-car NSX or something just doesn't work for me and my Euro-centric tastes lol ????. I'm talking but SUV, sedan, and 2 seater sports cars when I give my experience preferences. As for driving any vehicle on the terrible Thai roads, I had to really research and compare in a practical way what I bought (not renting as when just a short term visitor) but as a retiree here. Owning a car that can actually be driven here that's tough enough to cope i.e. you can drive away on a weekend for example here in a Porsche and not destroy your skirts and undercarriage but not in some other sports cars. Comfort, ease of operation, handling, ergonomics, vision, economy for vehicle size, and decent power is a high priority for me (Benz excel in these areas). The MBUX (Benz) I.T. system is stellar in features and performance and is, I'm told, way in front to of other marques. It was a huge leap in performance than the old I.T. system I was used to. It does almost everything except tell me I'm 'hansum man' and offer me gaffee buran and rub-me-up as I drive around haha ???? The heads-up and assist features are insanely good, the tech in the cruise control and warnings for speed zones etc is a flawless interface and so advanced yet non intrusive while driving. I ride in the 'usual suspects' Asian stable of manufacturers and they seem from my passenger seat pretty good for the investment but not a patch on a Euro marque car for interiors, operation, and features. I might be wrong here (as far as newer generation cheaper cars) but the tolerances in cheaper cars and the materials used don't last as well and maintain their plushness and 'tightness'. Go drive a 20 year Benz that's been well looked after and it will be equal to the best drive you've ever had (unless you know such cars as your normal ride). The Asian makers are making some very good cars for the price these days. I know a fella I play golf with, he bought the top of the line Haval SUV with every extra he could get a month or so back ... its a nice beastie inside and rides very well (looks very European inside and out). I wonder how tight, smooth and quiet it will be in 10 years though?! He's well pleased so far, saying the dealership is taking wonderful care of him. The new KIA's SUV look very nice and has all the bells and whistles. A real estate agent I know has one and she loves hers. The sounds e.g. door, seatbelt etc warnings in Asian made cars are annoying to me and, as far as I can see, like all cheaper cars they are not engineered as subtly in form and function as Euro marques.

I owned 3 'Pugs' gorgeous cars ... not performance vehicles as far as speed was concerned but glorious ride. My dad owned a few also (that's how I ended up with mine). He told me as a P plate driver that Peugeots were the poor mans Mercedes ... he wasn't wrong. Thanks dad I love you.

Seeing as we live in a land full of random widespread burning ... Cut the tree down, make a well in the stump with your chainsaw, pour dieseline into it ... this will kill the tree and the roots entirely ... then after a week go set fire to it. The locals sure won't mind and will more than likely join in by doing some yard cleanup and set alight to the new-found pile of waste lol ????????
