1. I posted the topic below a month or so ago and did hear from a couple interested people. Unfortunatly one of the lights has been broken for weeks and replacing/repairing it seems beyond the ken of all involved. Anyway they are promising it will be fixed next week, so please do send me a message if interested. (How many Thai "technicians" does it take to change a light bulb?)

I live at a condo on Rajadamri next to the Four Seasons Hotel, a short walk from Rajadamri BTS station, that has a squash court and I am looking for people to play with. The court is free and is OK (could use paint and a clean-up)with AC (that doesn't always work very well). There is a changing room with showers and lockers. I'm probably at a low intermediate/high beginner level.

Please send a message with your phone number and I'll give you a call.

  3. I once purchased blackout curtains from a company in Chiand Mai. The morons made the curtains from blackout material that only blocked about fifty percent of the light.

Be careful....... you must stress hundred percent blackout a hunderd times to get it through the idiot skull of the person you are dealing with who might come from a tailoring culture where a lie and the truth hold the same moral value.

Good luck with Home Pro, I've never seen the material or the drape there, but maybe....

  4. It's always amazing to me how many people think that the Thaa tourist police are paragons of virtue on the side of the tourist. I guess that belief makes people feel safer, like someone, somewhere out there is on your side......

I'm sure some of the tourist police are fine people doing their best to help, just like some of the regular Thai police are......

  5. Thanks for your replies.

You know I just can't find an answer, using google, to the simple question of whether or not I should be able to load apps from itunes onto a jaibroken phone. My itunes app page is frozen when synced with my iPhone. I did delete most of the apps from the phone. Is that normal?

  6. I took an American 3G iPhone to MBK and got it unlocked and jailbroken and they loaded 120 apps including Cydia.

Took it to True and got the postpaid package, Everything seems to be working as it should.

First time I ever had an iPhone. I have no idea what Cydia is, but I know its important.....

I can't really figure out if I screwed Cydia it up when I first opened it but I sure can't figure out what's what. It takes forever to load, give me error messages I don't understand, can't find any installer icon etc.

I synced the phone ok with iTunes, and downloaded a free app, but I can't figure out how to get it on the iPhone or even if I should be able to?

iTunes says if I sync the apps it will delete all of the other apps on the phone. Actually that's ok with me. Can I delete all of the apps from MBK or do some of them have something to do with making the unlock/jailbreak work?

If I do delete all the apps, how do I reinstall Cydia?

Thahks for your time, if you are inclined to anwer...... Treat me like an idiot please, I got no idea here and googling about jailbreaking and Cydia and iTunes just confuses me more.....

    Thanks!

  7. Hi,

  8. Thanks for posting that.

I could be wrong but aren't the prices a little high? I see they are selling Don's Mexican sauces much higher than Foodland used to. I wonder if the mark-up is that high on all the products? Seems like I used to pay 50 baht per bottle. But it has been a long time since I bought it.

I bought some Psyllium at a health food store in Bangkok for about 25 percent of what they are selling it for, but maybe it is imported.

  9. Cal Wow Pinklao is disgustingly filthy! They gave up cleaning the mold off the showers a year ago.

Fitness First in Central Pinklao office tower is the best in the area.

Are you a BBA or BE student?

  10. As a weekly commuter on Air Asia and a veteran of hundreds of flights I can tell you this:

    1. There is no contactable customer service department devoted to resolving problems. I'm not writing hyperbollicaly. There is quite simply no such thing at Air Asia.

    2. They usually (90%) will not respond to complaint emails or emails rquesting refunds or information about refunds.

    3. They sometimes do not do refunds on international credit cards even when they agree that a refund is due. After several years as a customer, I've developed a phone and email relationship with someone at Air Asia who has the authority to transfer the money due to my local bank account. That's what it takes!

    4. All of the above said, it's possible that in a 6 months or a year from now the credit will pop up.

Now the next post is going to be from someone saying how great Air Asia is and how its a budget airline and you get what you pay for..... You can make your own decision.

As a regular user I include lost refunds (even when they agree that problem was a mistake on their part) as a part of doing business with them and I appreciate the low, low advance fares and the pretty staff!

  11. I just spent a couple of days in Pattaya. You folks that live there are blessed with the best selection of breads in Thailand by far. There are a bunch of bakeries supplying all the supermarkets that obviously really care about putting out a good product.

I can sort of get good bread in Bangkok, but I have to work at it and no single place has the kind of selection that the Farang supermarkets in Pattaya offer.

  12. I have a few boxes and bags I need to move from Banglamphu to a condo close to the Four Seasons on Rajadamri this Saturday. Should take about an hour. I will pay 1000 baht. Any suggestions? I'm aware that there are trucks parked all over the place for just this purpose. Unfortunately none have turned up in my path recently....

    Thanks!

  13. Thanks innerspace! I think the phone was restored to factory settings and upgraded with the new OS. I'm still waiting on its arrival from the USA.

I think I'll just take it to MBK and see how that works out......

  14. A friend that uses True for their iphone reports excellent speed and availability of 3g in Bangkok. Is this true of AIS also.

Unfortunately True's signal is pretty weak where I live.

  15. Try Wave Phone, 4th Floor, MBK Centre. Tel - Kung 0867555599 or Chai - 0813431500. Very good service, doesn't take long to get done so you can wait there. I had mine done last weekend and I'm very happy with the service I recieved.
I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I noticed many stalls now advertising unlocking but many just take them to this place by the looks of things. They will also add lots of stuff for you when they jailbreak the phone.
Enjoy!

Excellent! How much did they charge?

  16. I just got a used iphone 3g from the USA. Can anyone recommend a specific shop at MBK or elsewhere to get it unlocked and I guess jailbroken. Any other suggestions for me regarding the phone. I don't really know anything about them.

I see that True has a 5 gig limit on their 3g for customers who didn't buy the phone from them. Is that a reasonable amount? Any other ideas for service/sim?

    Thanks for your advice!

  17. Hi
