British Man Held in Cambodia Over 20kg Airport Drug Bust
Once again a person from a country where he presumably had an educatuon and who probably (possibly?) has access to international news decides "Getting caught won't happen to me" and goes drug smuggling. How deep in the sand was his head to make such a decision? It actually amazes me - it's beyond Darwinian!

Brazilian Man Arrested at Phuket Airport on Traffic Violation Warrant
For a regular traffic offence it does indeed, but the OP does say ".....the matter was serious enough to warrant legal action," More to this than has been reported, methinks.

Are people travelling in a group so thick that they cannot even do a simple task like this for themselves? Or are they just lazy / "entitled"

Krungsri online banking discontinued from 1 October 2025
More a case of Thai banks getting their poxy banking apps sorted, I think. @hotandsticky That's OK as far as it goes, but what happens when you have to buy a new mobile phone at age 72? I lean towards @OJAS view!

Don't you just love the way Thais dot their i's and cross their t's. If this sort of thing was not so common you would be worried that their IT people were morons. Heaven forfend! Having said that, scroll up to my comment about M&S in UK - IT people being morons? Surely not! 😞 (Spoken by a former "IT person", by the way) And, whilst I have little time for the "PC / WOKE brigade", this "not over age 70" issue is blatantly ageist in a country where old people are supposed to be respected.

I'm pleasantly surprised!

Krungsri online banking discontinued from 1 October 2025
That is very convenient for the customer and I'm pleased for you. BUT.....if SCB is claiming to have done all this for security reasons, than the use of unsecured email rather defeats the object! Are these PDFs sent password-protected perhaps? I imagine not.

Barclays in UK keep their website updated but when you log in to the online banking it attempts to get you to download the App. However there's an option to "Continue using online banking" and that's it. So far, just that one extra click keeps you on the online banking platform. Nationwide is similar except it just displays a splash screen when you have logged in offering the App.

Thai Police Dismantle Scam Ring Targeting Australians, Arrest 13 Foreign Nationals
I get them in UK but always mark them as SPAM and block the number. It helps somewhat.

Krungsri online banking discontinued from 1 October 2025
They do, I use their online banking on a laptop and the phone app for the same account. The phone app doesn't facilitate the use of two phones/numbers for the same account. Being pedantic, that means they do NOT. You can use one app (i.e. one phone numbered device) but online banking on a laptop isn't seen as an app, although to the customer it appears to be the same thing. This is partly (IMO) why banks are removing online banking in favour of apps - it controls access to one device only and as long as you have your phone, you know nobody else can log on and gain access to your account - in theory.

Krungsri online banking discontinued from 1 October 2025
That's definitely an issue, but I think the risk can be mitigated by using multi-factor authentication. For my Fidelity Investments accounts when I want to login on my PC they first send a message to my phone and I have to approve the login in order to login on the pc. What it really means is that SCB is too cheap to employ competent IT support staff. A bit but rather like Marks & Spencer in UK, who had a cyber-attack in April and whose online shopping is still only partially working! When I told staff in M&S that the whole thing was down to M&S's incompetence (not theirs, obviously) they actually believed the hype that you cannot prevent a cyber-attack or recover from it efficiently.

Thai Police Dismantle Scam Ring Targeting Australians, Arrest 13 Foreign Nationals
That's it, if you don't want to be scammed don't do business over the phone with strangers Spot on. NEVER get involved with any cold-call offers, especially so-called "investments". They're almost certain to be some sort of scam, just as cold-callers to your home are. This isn't just a Thailand problem, it's worldwide.

British Tourists Charged with Smuggling £1m Cannabis After Thai Trip
Not that new - I knew someone in the eighties who smuggled various drugs into UK - he ended up in the "Bangkok Hilton" for many years. He wanted to involve me in his "business enterprise" - I ran a mile! A "British couple from Salford" who presumably were schooled in UK with access to UK media should realise that, as has been said, times have moved on and the likelihood of being caught has vastly increased. They're just morons - sadly I and my fellow taxpayers will be supporting their route to justice. I actually wish they'd been caught and punished in Thailand.

Danish Tourist Found Dead in Patong Rental Amid Health Concerns
Did you mean "actually an appropriate amount of water intake....." ? Being confused, I read your post 3 times before I realised the error, possibly caused by spell-check? And if that is what you meant, I agree with you - I drink up to 2L / day in UK where it's certainly not that hot so in Thailand, it's minimum 2.5L

Thailand Visa Exemption (60 days) and Visa On Arrival (VOA) (15 days)
No. Presuming your son hasn't been in an out of Thailand on a regular basis in the last year or so and usually lives elsewhere in the world? He'll get a 60 day exempt when he first arrives in Thailand. Then, after his "short stay in Bangkok," he'll leave for VN. When he returns from VN to Thailand he'll get another 60 day exempt. Presumably his holiday in VN will be a week or more, so it's clearly not just a border hop? I would suggest that he keeps his UK return ticket with him so he can show Thai Immigration that he is truly a tourist. Note: There has been talk / rumour of reducing the 60 days exempt to 30 days. This is presently ONLY a rumour but keep your eyes open on AN in case that does happen. Note 2: He will need to complete a new TDAC form within 3 days of each entry into Thailand as will you and your daughter of course. https://tdac.immigration.go.th/arrival-card/#/home I'm almost certain all the above is correct - possibly if @Maestro is reading this, he'll confirm please.

I wouldn't call Singapore GP boring. Monaco used to be , but with the mandatory 2 pit stops, this year's was quite exciting.

One Click and Life is Ruined: Bank Employee Scammed Out of 3.5 Million Baht

Pattaya Motorbike Drivers Protest Strict Helmet Law Fines
I would suggest that at least the first 25 of those "violations" is how people in Pattaya drive regularly. I do think that the wearing of helmet / seat belt should legally be up to the individual - i.e. the one likely to get injured, but I also think it's stupid not to wear them as appropriate. As for the wearing of "shared" helmets, I used to carry a baseball cap if I was going to use a motorcycle taxi and ask for a helmet to put on top of it. Having said that, I hate bikes of any sort, but now there's Bolt so those days have gone.
