And that folks, is how I got rich! 🙄😊😊

I correct my misread - he does like pork! in that case @Encee, where I said "Me-Ow Moo", say "Ow Moo" = I want pork or "Chop Moo" = I like pork instead. Rest of what I wrote still holds.

In that case, the OP is a little limited but still some good options. Three that I like are: Pad See Yew Raad Na Pad Thai (one of my favourites) These are all based around various sorts of noodles Specify "Me-Ow Moo" - means "I don't like pork" because all of them can be made with chicken (Gai) or Shrimp (Goong) Note that I'm trying to spell these phonetically in English to help the OP Also note that they are usually served without much chilli, fish sauce (Nam Pla) or sugar - they're seen as condiments and are usually brought to the table and you add it to taste. @Encee even if you think you don't like it, do try Cow Pat Gai or Cow Pat Goong https://www.eatingthaifood.com/thai-fried-rice-recipe-shrimp/#:~:text=Thai fried rice (khao pad ข้าวผัด)&text=You can order Thai fried,or fried rice with shrimp. It's very cheap if you do end up wasting some, and the above comment about condiments also applies. If you're going to Bangkok, Phuket or Pattaya there is plenty of choice in Western foods for you to alternate. But from one whose favourite food in the world is Thai.....Bon Appetit. 🍜🍴 👍

Tourism Council's Plan to Combat Overtourism Revealed
VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No way. It might be the major driving force in the areas you mention, but have you travelled outside those areas and looked around you? A lot of the Thai people in rural Thailand have no concept of what goes on in the tourist areas - some are actually quite shocked when they see it for the first time. -
Tourism Council's Plan to Combat Overtourism Revealed
VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
IMO, this and your previous post, are both spot-on. "They" don't know what they want and various departments, whether Government or not are continuously shouting about tourism - sort of "he who shouts loudest and last, wins" -
Early 2000's in Phnom Penh, I was in a very small car with a Cambodian girl driving down Norodum Blvd. She needed to make a left turn at the next intersection so pulled over into the left, oncoming lane about 100 meters before the turn: "That's just the way we do it here" So, much the same as Thailand then! 😆

7-Eleven restroom use in Thailand depends on branch discretion

Don't worry - you'd never be able to tell the difference! 🤫 -
How very strange! I wonder why they're targeting "LGBTQIA +" people - whatever the **** that means! It could be quite fun if done well - I don't believe in the supernatural but can imagine taking a Thai lady to one of these tours given how superstitious they are 😆

7-Eleven restroom use in Thailand depends on branch discretion
VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agree. How is this even newsworthy? 7-11s are franchises, so each franchisee is given certain rules that they must follow, then guidelines as to what additional services they may offer. After that...up to them. -

3,900 Thai community radio stations to cease under new digital scheme
VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
the story is about the local community radio stations not big commercial operations, why would they have an app or website? Our local community station has a Facebook page and that's it. In all honesty, I didn't know about Thailand but in UK most small local stations, which are generally financed by local adverting do have websites. However, your question interested me so I searched and found several sites similar to TuneIn that aggregate Thai radio sites and link to the sites' own websites. Couple of examples: Using aggregator https://onlineradiobox.com/th/ Using the search I found https://onlineradiobox.com/th/icradio/?cs=th.virginhitz linking to https://www.icradio.net/ Similarly https://onlineradiobox.com/th/konsurinradio/?cs=th.northeastenjoymusic links to https://xat.com/konsurin Another option https://mytuner-radio.com/radio/sthaaniiwithyu-cchs5-am-567-khz-chayphuumi-470188/ links to https://js5.smilewww.com/ All of those individual station websites have Play buttons so you could save them as favourites if you wanted to. So yes, some if not most of these local stations do have their own websites but also there are several aggregators like TuneIn, Onlineradiobox, MyTuner and Radio Garden that negate the need for them. One can listen to them online on PC, or Phone / Tablet without the need for DAB. You don't even need Apps for TuneIn and Onlineradiobox and MyTuner - just the standard browser - I'm doing this on Chrome and Edge on a standard Windows PC but just tried a couple of those links on my 'phone. So, returning to the thread subject "3,900 Thai community radio stations to cease under new digital scheme" they're actually mostly still available (it's already been pointed out that most people have phones) And, there are 2 more advantages: If they're online, there is effectively less censorship than if they were broadcasting on FM or DAB. IE No regulatory authority listening in and setting rules! Anything on the WWW is obviously available world wide - FM and to an extent DAB are localised. So @MikeN perhaps your local station doesn't have a website, (I wouldn't know) but many do. -

They could be if it weren't for these stupid agreements with the EU!!! As I said above "In this instance "gunboat diplomacy" would have been spot on!" -

But that would have been a damn good idea when they first started! Word would have gone back and no-one would have dared try it again. In this instance "gunboat diplomacy" would have been spot on! Do what Thailand does - no visa or other permission to enter UK....Foxtrot Oscar 🤬 -

3,900 Thai community radio stations to cease under new digital scheme
VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agreed but my experience of the FM tuner in a phone is a bit hit and miss. The antenna is provided by the headphone cable, so if you're using Bluetooth headphones, it doesn't work. Digital apps, or even a a plain old browser will work just fine of course. -

https://tunein.com/ also worthwhile checking out Some years ago, I was with a Thai lady in the apartment in Pattaya and had my laptop out with Tune In running. She was quite delighted when I found her home, Chaiaphum station. Of course, if the FM channel goes, there won't be enough adverting revenue and the whole station will probably close down. I used to broadcast on an Internet-only station in UK and the listening figures really weren't sufficient. -

But is that not, in turn, being influenced by the ECHR because of UK's time in the EU? -

I understand that it's the UN charter to which the UK is a signatory which stipulates humanitarian help to refugees, the ECHR is merely upholding international law. I may have got that wrong (?) but my opinion on who governs remains the same. The UN charter does of course contain many good clauses - this is not one of them (again, IMO) -

You're right, but IMO the Human Rights Laws do go too far in the name of freedom. An example, and there are many others, is the ECHR interfering in UK's right to deport illegal immigrants. That should be a decision for individual sovereign states, NOT an unelected body in Brussels.- 141 replies

VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There's a business opportunity for someone! More to the point, don't most of these stations have a website or App? Obviously, anyone on this forum has the technology already. As an aside, in UK I hardly ever use my FM tuner anymore, everything I want to listen to is online -
Big Thailand visa changes from June 1
VBF replied to snoop1130's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thank you @Maestro. I know this is a serious matter (if it actually pans out, it'll save me a bit of effort and a few £) but I can't help laughing how everyone, including the UK government, accepted the initial announcement and then had to backtrack and wait and see what actually happens. Don't they know.....TIT where the rule is "do nothing immediately"? 🙄
