  1. VBF replied to Nacho Libre's topic in Pattaya
OP: Some years ago (!) I travelled from and returned to Pattaya to Chaiyaphum and Loei on Nakhonchai. They always stopped at Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) for a lunch / comfort break. Try redoing your searches using Nakhon Ratchasima as the destination - that is Korat's official name to which @johng alluded.
  2. Just wasn't sure
  3. I don't think he is really focused on conservatism 'with a small c'. I think he is mostly talking about the far-right and MAGA movement which could never be described with any 'small' letters. Equally so, 'things which work and produce beneficial results for society' should, in my opinion be dominant in any political agenda but the far-right and MAGA are insular, selfish, myopic and tribal. The 'you're not in my gang' mentality is fueling an even greater political divide, with all sides struggling to find ANY compromise, much to the detriment of society as a whole. I think i'm inclined to agree with @johnnybangkok more than I do with @JAG although you do make some valid points @JAG until that is you mentioned his hair, which is irrelevant. If you let your opinions be swayed by personal appearance then I question the basis on which you formed those opinions. It would appear that you're thinking "just another hippy" Unless of course, I'm missing a sarcastic joke?
  4. That is funny, but i'm going to disagree that it's the greatest TV moment of all time. IMO...THIS is
  5. 20,000 baht per person, or 40,000 baht per family - or currency equivalent. Thanks - and to @Caldera 👍
  6. Is it safe to assume that it's still 20,000 baht or equivalent in foreign currency? (UKP, USD, Euro etc) That doesn't seem to have been mentioned recently.
  7. As you, I have no problem with people smoking / eating what they like, but scrapping it is the usual "sledgehammer to crack a nut approach" IMO, law enforcement would be the better route, but you only have to look at how many bars allow smoking of conventional cigarettes to realise that is unlikely. Then, as we all know, the driving rules are very selectively enforced, often, allegedly, for financial gain. I would suggest that even if "dope" is scrapped, there will still be many establishments allowing it in return for favourable treatment from the powers that be.
  8. Oh I know, but, it's far less hassle and cheaper to get a 60 day SETV before travelling, than to mess around with Jomtien Immigration. You know, all the copying, getting a TM30, waiting around. As you know, getting a visa is online and if I had needed it, far better to waste 30 mins while still home than at least half a day of my trip! But, yes, I appreciate the comment 👍
  9. That was exactly why I'm checking. Someone on another thread said much the same (actually, it may have been you!) but as I said, if I did need a visa, now would be the time to get it. As it is, a visa-exempt will do the job - thanks.
  10. Cheers - I thought so but paranoia is not always your friend 🤔
  11. Excuse my paranoia, but just checking that visa-exempt for a Brit on a UK passport going to Thailand for the first time since February 2025 is stil 60 days? I'm going from Feb to April, as I've done for the past 3 years and I'm travelling in 3 weeks so now's the time to be certain! The UK Embassy site indicates it is, but they are notoriously slow to update. I do know i shall need to do a TDAC within 3 days of travel. Thanks in anticipation.
  12. In UK Yes. In the case of an accident, the A&E department will treat everyone the same - use their best efforts to fix him and if a serious case he would be pushed to the front of the queue. Now for sudden illness, unless very serious, i'm not sure.
  13. I rest my case!
  14. Indeed. Before he even mentioned fear, the word entered my mind. I would add the fear of losing face in front of one's peer groups is a strong motivator to avoid change. That's as distinct from just wanting to follow a particular herd....IMO of course. Then of course the politicisation of religion.....
  15. You win!!! 😂😂
  16. That's something that British and Americans have in common - voting a government OUT rather than voting one IN. But then we're all faced with a lack of choice, aren't we?
  17. Actually if you read the post to which i replied, I was more commenting on the perspicacity of the electorate, so perhaps the boot is on the other foot here? But as I know slanging matches are disapproved of here, i shall leave it at that. A very good morrow to you sir.
  18. What people might "we" be then?
  19. That's the best explanation i've seen! It raises the question "Just how many ignorant losers have the vote in America?" Answer: "All of them"
  20. Is that a bar in Toledo?
  21. Not quite! Manny Cohen comes out of the pork butcher and gets knocked down by a car driven by Jamaican Errol who's smoking a spliff Father O'Reilly (him again) rushes over and says to Manny "Are you comfortable, my son" Manny looks up at him and says "I make a living, already" We're getting closer.....
  22. If you're using a PC, just use one of the Windows emojis thus. 🤔 Similarly on an Android device, and I presume on a Mac or iPhone
  23. I usually use a PC browser to get to AN - it has changed but looks OK. I've just tried it on a phone and the scaling isn't pretty!
  24. Oh some of us are mate. 😂😂😂 Keep up the absurd lunacy in 2026 - Happy New Year @ballpoint
  25. Pretty sage advice as it goes! 👍
