Well as you responded, I would suggest that syncing and saving Contacts is easier - as contacts become irrelevant, you can delete them from any of your synched devices and they've gone everywhere leaving your current Contacts in situ. I actually export my Contacts from time to time and keep as backup HTML files (I do it on Chrome on a PC). That's just part of my personal archive if you like....but then I am somewhat OCD about it all! 🙄
  3. Clearly your choice but without actually criticising, I would suggest that you're missing out on a very useful feature. I'll leave it at that.
  4. From what others have said, its should be linked to your PP number, hence the "automatically" in your reply i presume. But if you read the rest of my post, that's why I said that I'll carry it either on paper or phone anyway.

As @SABloke said "Makes the whole QR code side of things a bit moot" It would probably be more sensible to just send the email with an acknowledgement that you've completed the requirement and have no need to do any more. Personally, when I next come to enter Thailand, I shall have it available to show the IO whether "it" is a QR code or just email. May be old-fashioned but carrying one piece of paper tucked in my passport or one item on my 'phone doesn't seem too arduous - if it avoids a confrontation after a 20 hour journey, I'm all for it.
  6. Totally agree. The cars have outgrown many circuits, they have one racing line and it turns into a boring procession. Especially in a country where discipline and knowledge of road safety isn't endemic. Look at Singapore - a very disciplined place where people can be trusted to obey standards. Similar in Monaco. As to your other objection, usually i agree, but by changing the pit stop rules, this year's Monaco GP was much more interesting than previously. That's up to the FIA to adjust the rules appropriately.
  7. Regrettably, that has been a call for most major wars. WW1, people were saying, in 1914 "It'll all be over by Christmas", same thing about WW2 in 1940 and so on and so forth. The problem is, the protagonists have to agree with that!
  8. Beat me to it 👍 And, in fact, any other Android device that you log into that Google account will have your Contacts available. As will any Windows PC that's running Chrome. The added benefit is that your Contacts are backed up in the Google "cloud" should you lose your phone. IMO it's always better to store your contacts that way rather than on a SIM or device - just ensure you give your Google account a hard to remember password.
  9. Pardon the pun, but I wouldn't bank on it. They will only do something (IMO) if they start to lose valuable customers ie those with millions on deposit.

How deep in the sand was his head to make such a decision? It actually amazes me - it's beyond Darwinian!

  14. More a case of Thai banks getting their poxy banking apps sorted, I think. @hotandsticky That's OK as far as it goes, but what happens when you have to buy a new mobile phone at age 72? I lean towards @OJAS view!
  15. Don't you just love the way Thais dot their i's and cross their t's. If this sort of thing was not so common you would be worried that their IT people were morons. Heaven forfend! Having said that, scroll up to my comment about M&S in UK - IT people being morons? Surely not! 😞 (Spoken by a former "IT person", by the way) And, whilst I have little time for the "PC / WOKE brigade", this "not over age 70" issue is blatantly ageist in a country where old people are supposed to be respected.
  16. That is very convenient for the customer and I'm pleased for you. BUT.....if SCB is claiming to have done all this for security reasons, than the use of unsecured email rather defeats the object! Are these PDFs sent password-protected perhaps? I imagine not.

Barclays in UK keep their website updated but when you log in to the online banking it attempts to get you to download the App. However there's an option to "Continue using online banking" and that's it. So far, just that one extra click keeps you on the online banking platform. Nationwide is similar except it just displays a splash screen when you have logged in offering the App.
  18. I get them in UK but always mark them as SPAM and block the number. It helps somewhat.
  19. They do, I use their online banking on a laptop and the phone app for the same account. The phone app doesn't facilitate the use of two phones/numbers for the same account. Being pedantic, that means they do NOT. You can use one app (i.e. one phone numbered device) but online banking on a laptop isn't seen as an app, although to the customer it appears to be the same thing. This is partly (IMO) why banks are removing online banking in favour of apps - it controls access to one device only and as long as you have your phone, you know nobody else can log on and gain access to your account - in theory.
  20. That's definitely an issue, but I think the risk can be mitigated by using multi-factor authentication. For my Fidelity Investments accounts when I want to login on my PC they first send a message to my phone and I have to approve the login in order to login on the pc. What it really means is that SCB is too cheap to employ competent IT support staff. A bit but rather like Marks & Spencer in UK, who had a cyber-attack in April and whose online shopping is still only partially working! When I told staff in M&S that the whole thing was down to M&S's incompetence (not theirs, obviously) they actually believed the hype that you cannot prevent a cyber-attack or recover from it efficiently.
  21. That's it, if you don't want to be scammed don't do business over the phone with strangers Spot on. NEVER get involved with any cold-call offers, especially so-called "investments". They're almost certain to be some sort of scam, just as cold-callers to your home are. This isn't just a Thailand problem, it's worldwide.
