Many people such as those whose working hours are not strictly "9-5", shift workers, emergency workers, workers where there has to be constant cover to name a few. When I was working, staff would be disappearing for an hour between 11 and 3. We contractors didn't of course - lunch is for wimps people who are not hourly paid! 🙄

And yet, as a tourist in Pattaya, I've never had a problem going into a bar / restaurant in the afternoon and getting a drink. I've never seen this rule actually enforced except in shops, like 7/11 but that's all..

I went a bit wobbly and needed some assistance after eating 2 and half muffins (in the now closed soi 21 restaurant). I had had a couple to drink and my lady companion bought them to have after our pad krappows. I naively thought they were banana cakes. I now use them only as an aid to a good night's sleep. Edited 3 hours ago by hotandsticky Personally, if alone, I would only buy from a place vouched for by someone I knew and trusted (which is what I did), or if that's not possible, at least try them when you're tucked up in your room out of harm's way. I did that too and was glad of it - I'd hate to be walking around in Pattaya crowds and traffic in a "dazed and confused" state. For me, the feeling is very different to having had too much alcohol which I've done many times and can predict. Never was the expression "YMMV" more apt!

Get to Tree Town and as you said correctly, "there is a little market after 7-11 just before the S bend at "R-Con corner"" THAT's where it was, a big shop near that "little market" My apologies for being a useless navigator. And that's before I've tried the product 😆

Basically almost any food you cook may be "enhanced" with "Vitamin G" if you so desire. Use your existing recipes...assuming you do actually cook, of course. 🙄 Witness "Happy Pizzas" in Cambodia which sprinkle it on the same way they do Oregano or Chilli or....or.... To the OP, in March 2023 there was a big place on Soi Bukhau, at the market just after Tree Town heading south. (Before the big bends in the road) Their coconut cookies with cannabis were delicious and (ahem) effective.

Depends how long you stay in a place. I have, over the years spent up to 6 months holidaying using Thailand as my base and travelling the region. All sorts of combinations of TV, Non-Imm O and visa-free entry as the rules dictated. Makes sense and is a lot cheaper than relying on UK cards although companies like Wise have changed that to some degree. I was also, at that time, considering retirement in Thailand so the decision to open the account was simple.

I opened an account at SCB in 2006 - I still have it. At that time, I seem to recall I didn't have any sort of visa, if I did it would have been a TV.

My thoughts exactly...... Sometimes I kick myself for not simply ignoring certain threads. However, I would refute the suggestion that all backpackers are stupid. In my youth I travelled the Greek Islands with a backpack staying in cheap "Pensions" and eating in cheap local cafes - over several years' trips I managed to visit many of the islands in the Cyclades group, plus quite a lot of others. It can be fun and educational at 19-23, NOT so much once you get older and accustomed to creature comforts.

On that theme: Postman left a letter on my neighbour's doorstep. On the letter was written "Photographs- Do Not Bend" As I'm such a helpful neighbour, I wrote "Yes they do" on it, folded it in half, and put it in the letter box.

Pretty much all has been said about this person's stupidity, but despite the fact that I worked in "Tech" all my life, I'm still appalled when people rely totally on it and just don't think! There are people today who can't drive without the tech, can't do simple arithmetic, can't put a cogent sentence together, can't shop or cook etc etc. And yet, we were all born with a very powerful computer that is there to help us with all this "stuff" if we only learn to train it and use it! One needs to use the tech as a tool, NOT allow it to become one's master. I, as an old git, am fascinated by AI, but equally I'm worried at how much it's going to make some people use their brains less than they do now. And then when the tech fails.....where's your fall-back?

I agree if you're diving,(it's part of the training) but if one is only at snorkel depth, no real need - just stick your head above the water and spit the mouthpiece out! I'd be inclined to agree more with @scubascuba3 - with that board name, he ought to know!
