  1. Absolutely!! Just WhatsApp'd it to my sister who lives in Liverpool.... waiting..... 😎
  2. Brilliant!!!!! πŸ‘ "Imagine" that! 😎😊😊
  3. Ooh you nasty boy πŸ€£πŸ˜†
  4. OK Crossy - I'll admit to being thick....don't geddit (other than The Beatles logo) ☹
  5. That's a bit of a sweeping statement perhaps, but you may be partially right. I went to Cambodia with a former TGF (from Issan) and many Cambodians would attempt to start a conversation with her. So as noted elsewhere in this thread, it's possibly which region of Thailand one is comparing.
  6. OP looks as if he might be in in: OZ or Los - cannot be sure of course. Small correction - in the UK eye tests for are free for everyone over 60 https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/opticians/free-nhs-eye-tests-and-optical-vouchers/ Includes test for Cataracts and Glaucoma. For Β£10 you get an extra test for AMD https://www.ageuk.org.uk/information-advice/health-wellbeing/conditions-illnesses/eye-health/age-related-macular-degeneration-amd/ I think that's what @Sheryl meant above (?) Not helpful of course if @still kicking is not in UK but the details of what is tested might be useful.
  7. And probably doing a better job than the politicians 🀣😎
  8. Naivety is a wonderful quality! πŸ™„πŸ˜†
  9. And may I add "may be introduced next year, after several changes, back tracks, forward leaps, interventions by vested interests etc etc".
  10. Due to be introduced, maybe. Do please remember "TIT" πŸ˜‹
  11. Has anyone considered that the originator of the linked article is "A former chairman of Baker McKenzie, an international law firm with offices in Thailand and a member of the National Reform Council" He's not a member of government and the article actually states: "New regulation changes an interpretation which disregards when money was earned abroad and taxes all income if not already taxed by treaty countries" So a little early to be worrying as if it was an actual change in the law?
  12. Ask a married man πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜†
  13. You've said, jokingly, what is actually the truth! IF bars are allowed to open until 4AM, they're not being forced to do so. It just gives the owners / managers an option which they can asses using market forces. IE, if you're the only bar for streets around and are getting (enough) customers wanting to stay until 4, stay open. If, however you're the only bar for streets around and are NOT getting customers wanting to stay until 4, then close. It's really not too difficult!
  14. Perhaps they're in the crack pipel(ine) πŸ™„
  15. I think i'd like one of those. And I'll get a mug like that at the same time πŸ˜‚
  16. Reading the linked article, it says: "The Cabinet agreed on Tuesday to exempt tourists from India and Taiwan from requiring an entry visa to say in Thailand for up to 30 days, effective from November 10 until May 10." So it'll just put them on a par with visitors from UK, US, Europe - 30 days visa free, and (presumably) TVs or extensions for thjose wishing to stay longer. Hardly a major innovation!
  17. Exactly so! I'm past the stage of going out at say, 8 pm then staying out all night, (age has crept up on me!) BUT as a tourist I might well have an early night, then wake up at midnight, shower and go out for 4 hours or so, maybe until dawn. In fact next trip i shall plan to do that a couple of times The more flexibility, the better. People who want to drink for hours at a time can anyway - this will afford the choice of WHEN to do your drinking / partying.
  18. Sorry - I'll be more genteel next time 😜
  19. I love the GC but I agree the use of the word "Gent" is somewhat inappropriate - yes comical - ironical even 😎 Possibly to distract the naΓ―ve (partners, maiden aunties, assorted snowflakes?) - just going to my Gentleman's Club, my dear πŸ™„ So what snappy phrase WOULD others use to describe them? What about Recreational Spots? or Fellow's Assemblies? ( πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‚ ) Answers really invited from those who actually ENJOY visiting GC - we know what you "haters" call them thank you!
  20. It certainly does - thank you πŸ‘ And with a confirmation dialogue as well - excellent πŸ‘πŸ‘
  21. Please do - do you have an ETA yet? It's quite annoying because I prefer to read the link in the notification then delete ALL notifications. That way when I "View all notifications" I know that I've got something new to read. I do realise that they are shown as "read" or "unread" but that still clutters the view. Thank you πŸ‘
  22. The question is: Was the area a bar area when you bought your condo, or did the bars open AFTER you moved in? If the former, it serves you right for moving there, if the latter then it would be good if there was some sort of "zoning law" in place. I think there's a difference and 2AM is usually late enough for me, but why should those who want to party all night be prevented as long as the bar is in an appropriate "zone"?
  23. Took me about 10 seconds to get that...D'Oh!! πŸ™„
  24. Couldn't agree more. πŸ‘ Compare it to Patong in Phuket and then all you detractors, be careful what you wish for!
  25. I've said this before on AN, but from the time I lived in USA, I agree with the NRA slogan "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns" That certainly applies here in UK where guns are pretty much outlawed but gun crime is increasing.
