  1. As a point of order, if you were in London, TfL no longer accept cash. Card, phone or some sort of pass only. We old gits are lucky 'cos it's free! ????
  2. Does this qualify as "Gross behaviour"? Worthing: Man caught on CCTV stealing 144 bars of chocolate
  3. I have an account with SCB. In February, I noticed that all the 7/11 stores in Pattaya that used to have SCB ATMs no longer had them. When I visited my branch, i was told that SCB and 7/11 no longer had a contract. Nobody knew, or was prepared to say, why. As it turned out, the Bangkok Bank on Soi Bukhau has a set of other Bank logos on its ATM, including SCB. I then found that cash withdrawals using my SCB card were free of all charges.
  4. And I'm so old, i know just what you mean! ????
  5. Can't see it for that price ????
  6. You have to wonder at the stupidity of some people: "Additionally, tourist visa applications now take up to 15 days to process, compared to less than a week before the pandemic." So you're going on a holiday and amongst all the other arrangements cannot apply for your visa 2 weeks early? D'Oh! The tax, of course is another matter - 20% is extortionate, IMO.
  7. Art for art's sake "true' art is utterly independent of any and all social values and utilitarian function....." Or, in plain English....it's ****ing pointless ????????
  8. Just before you try that, make sure you're logged in as an Administrator and / or try booting Windows in "Safe Mode", then delete the file(s)
  9. Sorry - I was replying to your "...After 3 boosters, still caught covid. There is a clue there too!" and assumed you were referring to yourself - my bad. Here we have yet another incidence of 2 people disagreeing about vaccines. Most of your points are perfectly valid, (IMO) especially your comment about choice. I do disagree with your comment "half-proven" because i think there is now sufficient proof that they work - my choice and I don't intend to have that argument again, just agree to differ. Here in UK vaccines are free to all and I have had all that I've been advised to take - 'flu and Covid. I have had no side-effects from the Covid shots, oddly though, a few hours after my annual 'flu shot, I usually get 'flu symptoms for a couple of hours. That does actually show that the vaccine is reacting in some way and now i expect it to happen, just don't let it concern me. As for the pharma companies, it's partly thanks to them that I'm alive and kicking due to other health issues, so in some respects, I am already a "hostage" I suppose it helps that, at my age, I at least don't have to pay for meds, and once again, they are doing me nothing but good. Choice is a marvellous thing ????
  10. That gets my Norton A/V all excited Still works though. ????
  11. snowfl is mine
  12. It's unlikely that you can uninstall preloaded apps as they're in firmware but you can just ignore them and do as others have suggested and use Google Maps via Bluetooth (or cable if necessary). Very slightly as it concerns a Toyota rather than an MG but the same principles apply and I've found that to keep the maps database updated on an in-car system is very expensive and / or time-consuming and of course, the update is only current for a few days. Whereas, Google Maps is about as current as it gets and is constantly being updated. I've found it to be far more "user-friendly" that most in-car systems too. For notification of speed traps and other hazards, try "Waze" which actually draws on Google Maps for its information. As regards the manual being in Thai, have you tried the MG website for an English version?
  13. Unfortunately for you, you're not part of the "most people". I sincerely hope you're fully recovered, but the fact remains that most vaccinated people, if they catch Covid, suffer less than if they were unvaccinated. I obviously don't know if that's true in your case, but then, neither do you. Sadly there will always be a few for whom vaccinations are less effective, they should possibly view themselves as vulnerable. Indeed, there are a (very) few for whom "regular 'flu" is a serious condition but we cannot keep deferring a return to normality to accommodate everyone.
  14. When I was in Pattaya Feb - April, very few people were bothering. The only place masks were compulsory was in SCB! I never quite got that. As others have said, it's really nothing to worry about any more for most people - the tone of the OP basically said that those suffering were the clinically vulnerable and those who cannot be bothered to get boosters. There's a clue there!
  15. Now that IS useful to know ????????????as one might assume that logically one could destroy any original printout having entered Thailand. (I'm assuming they need to scan the QR code when you do an extension.) Same as I've often been told to keep my boarding pass when entering the country although I've never actually been asked to show it.
  16. Brits, especially Londoners, will understand
  17. Guess he doesn't like it doggy style ????
  18. You have to admire his taste ????
  19. Try "thought provoking".
  20. Which, IMO, is how it should always have been - governments should give ADVICE, not enforce restrictions on adults, as, right from the outset, it was the higher risk groups who needed protection - the majority of those who got really sick from Covid were in the various higher risk groups.
  21. I would also recommend both of those. Tuol Sleng, the Genocide Museum is horrific and moving https://tuolsleng.gov.kh/ and really made me THINK about what happened in Kampuchea as it was. If one is in PP it's possible to visit it and The Killing Fields in one day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_Fields A friend told me that "You'll never look at a school in Thailand or Cambodia in quite the same light again" - he was right! It was a day I shall never forget, however dramatic that may sound.
  22. If he was my son, I'd be saying "That's my boy" ????
  23. You obviously just tossed that comment in???? ( )
  24. I think a similar figure applies world over. Over the last few years and before getting vaccinated, I had "flu-like" symptoms on 3 separate occasions. Only once did I bother to test (because I was planning to mix with people) and it was negative - i.e. it really was the flu or a bad cold. The other 2 times? I'll never know or care.
