An indirect answer..... whether there are any rules, i don't know, but I used to bring a couple of kilos of mature cheddar for a mate in Pattaya. Never actually gave it a thought, just packed it in my suitcase...then again I never got stopped. Have you asked Mr G? (Google, that is) Or even search this forum..... From 2016:

The Tourist Visa Online Application Form
VBF replied to David B 5843's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
THAT's when a PC (or Mac) is useful - resizing pics on them is easy - not so easy on a phone, AFAIK -
Internet banking change.
VBF replied to owl sees all's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Agree with all you say there but as i don't live in Thailand, i really don't want to have to get an up to date phone just to manage the money i keep there for holiday trips! (I have just that in UK but still prefer to use my PC for banking) Does anyone know if SCB are getting rid of their "SCB Easy" online site? Without that I would have issues too -
The Tourist Visa Online Application Form
VBF replied to David B 5843's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I just went through this a couple of weeks ago - had similar questions to you at the outset so allow me: 7 Confirmation of legal residence - Same passport scan as at start of application 9 Identity of the person inviting you to stay e.g. Thai ID card, Passport - I made a Word doc with the question "Is this required for a Tourist Visa" and saved it as a PDF 11 Applicant is required to upload document that can verify his/her current residency. I used my Council Tax Bill for 2022-2023 - again saved as a PDF I used the photograph that I obtained for my new passport last year - IMO if a photo is acceptable for a UK PP, it SHOULD work for the eVisa After submission, a pop-up initiates the payment process and informs of the amount required (£30) I paid on credit card 5-1-23 email announcing Visa approved arrived 10-1-23 That had an attached PDF which included a QR Code. ** One needs to print that PDF and show it to Immigration on arrival (and possibly the airline at check-in) ** (POSSIBLY, one could keep it on a phone / tablet and show Immigration that - I've chosen to use a paper version that I shall hand over with the PP) That site is not intuitive and the "instructions" are almost useless - I feel sorry for those with no IT skills who have to use it! Finally, AFAIK, you CANNOT get a visa in Thailand - you either get it before entering, or enter visa-exempt. Good luck ???? -
Extension on 45 day visa exemption
VBF replied to FrankThePlumber's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@FrankThePlumber your idea is perfectly sound, as others have said. IF you have time, I think it MIGHT be better to apply for the eVisa for the following reasons: You will get 60 days permission to stay. Of course, if you extend your visa-exempt entry you'll get a total of 75 days as you said - how long do you need in total? In UK, at least, it works out cheaper - £30 for the eVisa as against 1900 Baht (about £47) for an extension, + copying + travel to Immigration. And, IMO, the BIG one - no messing about in Thailand...filling in forms, photocopying, queueing at Immigration...a loss of at least half a day of your trip. I was daunted by the Official Website of Thailand Electronic Visa (thaievisa.go.th) (it's horrible!) but when it came to it, I got mine in 5 days - I'm staying in Thailand for 57 days, so I'm covered for my trip. This is JUST my opinion - as I said, your idea is perfectly sound should you prefer it. Good luck ???? -

Proposal would see Thailand continue with relaxed entry rules for tourists
VBF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nothing wrong with your idea, but I personally disagree with it. I'm arriving in Thailand next month, staying for 57 days. I could have done as you suggest, entered visa-exempt and applied for an extension. However, I chose to get a Tourist Visa mainly because, once I figured the strange visa site out, it's all done from the comfort of my own home and now I don't need to mess about getting copies, filling in forms, going to Immigration, effectively wasting half a day of my holiday minimum. Plus its heaper - £30 for the visa, against 1900 Baht for an extension (approx £47.50). As ever with these things "YMMV" -

Why not. Ronald Reagan (a notoriously bad actor) made it. And...shouldn't it be obsession WITH celebrity? ????

Usually incorrectly pronounced by Americans as Orig-AN-Oh

Not quite sure how.... It would make more sense if people only quoted the full place if they were from one of the lesser-known ones, assuming California as a default. Same as if I mention Liverpool, I assume the city in the NW of England, but I actually have a picture of myself in Liverpool, Texas

Yes Yes Yes!!!! One of my pet hates! ???? Just like when Americans might say Los Angeles, California instead of just Los Angeles! I did go to school, you know!!

eVisa for TOURIST Visa - another bunch of questions!!
VBF replied to VBF's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I choose to disagree Robin. All my effort has been made from the comfort of home and I've now got my visa for the duration of my trip without the irritation of going to Immigration. Having said that, this thread concerns TOURIST Visa applications and your ultimate purpose differs. I'll add that a friend used the eVisa system last year and from his description / experience, it does seem to have changed slightly....still MUCH room for improvement, IMO. Ultimately, as long as you got what you needed........ -
eVisa for TOURIST Visa - another bunch of questions!!

Good stuff - you too mate! ???????? In passing, the system does direct you to the appropriate Embassy / Consulate when you tell it your location - in my case the London Embassy. -

Tourist eVisa requirements
VBF replied to likerdup1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I had that same thought, and clearly it's up to you but I stuck at it. Another way of submitting multiple JPEGs is to create a Word doc, copy/paste your JPEGs into it, then resize them within Word, save it as a PDF and submit the PDF - that's what I do - just a thought. Also in UK, the e - SETV is a flat £30. In Jomtien for example, an extension is 1900 Baht, presently approx £47.50, and you need to do several photocopies, get to Immigration, queue up for an unknown time - just a boring hassle. Basically i stuck at the online application to save a small amount of money but PRIMARILY to save a waste of time when I'm in Thailand - I can now just relax. As I said, your call - good luck whatever you decide. -
Tourist eVisa requirements

Suggest you start a new thread - this one is about Tourist Visas and may not be looked at by those in the know about ED visas - they're above my pay grade ????
