  1. as well with many suggestion : pumpkin seed / tomatoes / chili

the best & natural i try so fare is:

In my thai shop I found some tea bags call

Orthosiphon grandiflorus bolding, must be 20 teabags in it for the astronomic sum of Baht 27.

It is use as diuretics, I am happy with it, only wake up 2 times a night now instead of 5-6 times.

Drinking beer / eaten bread or anything with yeast affect me the most.

I could scan & post the cover (all in thai) if wanted !

  2. i just download Firefox after glitch trying to install new Opera into windows 7

it look fine to me, will take a while to get use to it

Opera 10 series could not be load into the notebook, changing compatibility, doing upgrade or full install, loading from thumb or external HD, did not succeeds

  3. I can not upgrade / full install any of the 10 series to my new notebook ( windows 7 )

I try from a thumb / turn off anti virus /

I am still running the 9.4 version

Tari you must really like it to put a reply to this post ! 29 messgaes in 4 years membership.. WOW

  4. Today making potty with Thai newspapers for my dog, i saw few adds for notebook, Lacer and Dell

Both price were the same 21990 baht, the Dell configuration were a bit better :

    Dell Vostro 1320

    Intel core 2 duo (2.20Ghz)

    Windows 7 home

    3 GB sdram

250GB Sata HD, I think free upgrade to 320GB

    13.3 inch WXGA display

  5. This is interesting to read about. I hope you don't mind my asking a silly question without wanting to drag the thread too far off-topic. In 2006, I remember there being a fairly flat-rate fee by the ANZ to withdraw from my savings account - around $6.00 AUD.

It made sense to withdraw 9,900 thb at a time to keep the fees within reason for the amount of the transaction. Can I expect to be fleeced more than previously by my aussie bank of the last decade next week when I find myself at the Cirrus-Maestro machine once again?

This time is finish, few years ago they decide to have charge for oversee withdraw or purchase.

I realize this when i bought a coffee machine in Bangkok and find myself with around 3 % extra cost.

Visa is best to avoid most of the time.

I have now a thai credit card, and do transfer once a month, i am not sure with cirrus.

+ thai bank are charging a 150 baht fee as well now

  6. I'm pretty far from Bangkok.

What brand did you buy? I will try to contact with their office, probably they will advise a local store.

IT City pantip Plaza The model I got was the Kensington, see the link

    http://www.netbankstore.com/pc/KMW64397/Keyboards/index.html

they have cheaper model as well for English only keyboard.

Summer I was is the same situation, first do not want to have English / Thai notebook, second the service for the VAT I got at the airport last time was appealing (like my refund was stealing money from this country)

I decide to take a visa run to Singapore and got there a notebook, i put a post on my Singapore purchase there.

  7. I am faced with a new problem.

I need English only keyboard. But in online (invadeIT.com and shop4thai.com) and local shops all interesting configurations are with English/Thai keyboard.

i bought a english only in IT pantip plaza, they have french / chinese as well.

  8. Hi,

Thanks for your answers. Can't the custom in france or thailand can ask you to pay the VAT after you got it refunded in sg ?

    Thk.

No, I do not think so they will, that will be so mean.

One of my experiences, Australia has a 900 dollars free GST on purchase.

July 2008 I bought an expensive watch in Australia; I got a GST refund of $700 at the airport, in July 2009 I went back there with the watch in my pocket, but no question was ask. ( was not sure if they record in computer log)

I read depreciation is allowed in any case.

I believe they do not care for personal item, only if you try to commercial them.

I do not know about France

  9. Hi,

How much did it cost you to fly to sg back and forth ? Did you stay one night there ? What is required at the airport to get the VAT back ? How many percent is the VAT on laptops ?

    Thanks

I use my Thai royal orchid points, I was going to lose in December !

I stay three nights, meet some overseas friends there as well.

The airport want to see the good, in my case as it was a carry baggage everything is done after the customs, they want to see the good / passport / voucher from the shop.

They give me 84 dollars back on a purchase of 1530 dollars = 5.5%

I did not want to have a Thai keyboard why did not get it here.

The only missing point i find is no back light on the keyboard.

Battery life is ok for me, I use it on wifi at home in Bangkok or will take it to my Mum place in France or my place in Australia once a year.

  10. My experience buying a notebook in Singapore

I post some questions & got only very few reply, perhaps will help other

Fly in Singapore, decide to go to Funan, was little weary to go to Sim Lim square.

I did download few price list before to have some idea.

Browns around in Funan, they do not have many notebook with windows 7 install, Lenovo / HP / Toshiba, all other are still with vista

I saw a shop call MC2 in the second or third floor, I remember I did download the price list (pdf) from them, I enquire for the HP envy, they can order but do not have in stock.

I start to talk to the supervising manager, one notebook attire my attention, and I ask if the price could be a bit lower with paying with visa

The original price was $1599, he said $1530 + he will kick a carry bag.

He went to get the notebook, load it in front of me, give me a carry bag who I change for a nice sleeve + want to give me a cheap mouse (witch I did not take)

Feel all paper for the refund VAT (GST) = $80 back at the airport.

*Do not try to get the refund at the information in Funan ( did not look to safe to me ) they ask you credit card as well, and my receipt could not be use ????

    Notebook :

    HP Pavillion dm3-1015TX / window Intel core duo (2.26GHz) / 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM / 500 GB SATA HDD / 13.3 inch screen / NVIDIA GeForce G105 / windows 7 home

    Something likes this:

    http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptop/hp-...m3t.aspx?page=1

Nero give me problem to install and uninstall.

Windows 7 (Home) load all my existing programs, some in XP mode

I think the Windows Professional version is only for customs made XP program

I am happy with it so far, got GST refund at the airport

  11. Bits confuse, I am off to Singapore this afternoon, I will look to buy a notebook there.

I could buy a notebook with window 7 home, but I want the professional edition (I have some XP programs I need to use)

I could buy an expensive notebook with window 7 professional as OS (hp envy)

I could buy a notebook with XP and let it running for few years, not looking at window 7

I could buy a notebook with XP / vista / window 7 home and buy a full version window 7 professional to install

    Perhaps the Lenovo ideapad U350

Not sure what is the way to go, many notebook has vista still in it.

Singapore is competitive on Lenovo vs Thailand, cheaper as Australia for the envy and look expensive for some other brands

do not want to buy it in Thailand!

  12. Sim Lim Square and Funan IT Mall.

Funan IT Mall is right next to Peninsula Hotel. Its about a $4 taxi ride from Orchard Rd.

Thank you, the last few hours I have time to do some internet search, Funan IT have more positive feedback compare to Sim Lim, I will go there

I will look at the base price in Best Denki or Harvey Norman chain first.

  13. I am off to Singapore in a couple of days, do you know where is a reputable shop to buy a notebook? Perhaps the HP Pavillion dv3

All ready suggest on thaivisa, Sim Lim Square (on the top levels) & not to buy at the airport !

    Anymore worth to know?

    thk

  14. Do not agree with you for most

Cheese & wine are heavy tax in Thailand !

For 150$ you do not get a lot in Coles, perhaps the Saturday when they sell the left over for half price.

Take away chicken in Australia 12 dollars / here 100 – 120 baht

Fish Thailand 120 baht to 230 baht a kilo

Ok, Decent bread - Thailand 60 baht. Australia 80 baht

Vet 1 appointment for a shoot 220 baht, will I presume be 50 dollar in Australia, dog shower 150 baht.

Kilo chicken at the market 75 baht / pork 80 baht

Night in hotel centre town Bangkok 1500 baht and it will be much better as a suburb cheap hotel in Sydney or Melbourne for the same price

Taxi price are 4 time higher in Australia / maid / dental / Land line rental cost / mobile phone & I am forgetting so many items / service

Car ownership for maintenance is cheaper here as well insurance / petrol, purchases more expensive, car park are 15 $ one hour in Melbourne, 30 baht here, traffic fine 150 baht compare to $ 150

Cable here 1800 baht, not sure in australia

Fuel cheaper here as I know

I am paying 60 baht for three month rubbish collection, can i ask you how much are the city rates in sydney ?

Sorry i come back with a edit, i forgot

internet i am paying 590 baht for a decent connection, ass much of download i want
