just started talking about sunday lunch, back in the u.k. and it justs started to piss down outside.

Poor you ! you can now stay at home with some nice Pinot Noir, matured goat cheese, great bread and envy us !

  2. for some reason many people here on thaivisa say really inane things like

do drugs- go to jail -the gun will get you- break the law and pay-( yes, to get out)

one seems to forget that there is a whole process that has to take place before hand, like, and I will drop a hint- getting caught doing it by someone who cannot be paid off

that is why,if i was crook, this is where i would live

I saw the DVD in sex motel and a similar( I report to police, who laughed) one in part of some training I did for an agency that watches these people

i was trying to explain why , for now, i do not like visiting sex offenders

    thats all

    ^Ohh dear

    ^Ohh dear ..

He must really like this post, to not letting died !

  3. The Four Seasons Hotel buffet is known as one of the best in town.

A mark up from the JW Marriot I'd say. Plus free flow Verve...

Also to Sukhothai is very good, no free flow wine though.

The free flow Verve C sounds great- how much are the sunday brunches in the four season?

FWIW- the four season is Jakarta also does a good sunday brunch...

    2100 ++ baht for brunch

here is one of my link for Four Seasons

Green Emerald hotel was good value, Narai hotel use to be cheap with his smoked salmon, i think they hike the price lately use to be 340 baht at night

  4. I would LOVE to redesign all kinds of abandoned industrial projects here... including those discusting abandoned skytrain structures in Nonthaburi !!!!

Have many ideas about what to do with these monsters.

They need to be demolished, 10 years old concrete and steel with rain and tear, sensible people will not buy them.

Better stay off the skytrain then.

    What you said is just.

But I am not a builder or civil engineer, perhaps the type of cement and reinforcement they use for outside structures are not the same as the one for condos floor and structure who supposedly need to be enclose.

  5. I try The Sukhothai brunch, did not like the service, I order a bottle of good French champagne.

The waiter did serve us and i need to slow him down with the bottle as he was ready to refill the glass straight away.

When we were getting something the same waiter fill the glass to the rim, after i told him to slow down.

When he come back to ask he I want a second bottles, I was ready to tell him off, I just hold myself for my guess.

Sukhothai if you read this post, French champagne is not water, teach you staff to have more respect with it.

    Will not go back there

i like four season, Rembrandt Indian buffet

  7. Don't get married in the village! (problem solved) :)

PS. SinSot is for show, all dosh should be returned to you. If not then the family is up to no good and should be avoided at all costs.

    That mostly true.

i hear you can rent fake money and gold bar / hire a security guard / have the sinsot under glass and everyone will think it is real ...

  8. shame on all those nasty TV-regulars who seem to dellight in slapping those with less money in pockets. That they even dare say its impossible shows their complete lack of any knowledge of this big city. I just hope they need to test their survival skills sooner as later.

Best poster: there is a DAFT simple answer to all your porblems: BUY A JAPANESE GUIDEBOOK-as it seems you can read it. The young JPNese bekpekker come here-all to around Khao sarn-and are able to survive on 300 thb=less as 10US$/day.

from airport take free white shuttle bus to BUSterminal-then citybus 556-cost is 33 THB. get off when the lady tells you [and where all the khon Yipun=the japs) get off. follow them

DORMS-are from 100 bt/night. mostly they take JPnese only-rooms come from 150 bt. remember that good old rule: beach street cost much more as 2nd street-this applies in this whole world-do NOT stay at that road-walk a little further. That guidebook lists them. AC=rooms start form 350 bt/day +10,50USD).

BTW: walking does not save you a cent-some citybuses are FREE (the red ones-some!) and walking some 33 km t osave 1 US$ does not make any sense. You do not need subway or skytrain that much-again your guidebook [as the JPNese are FAR more useful as the english) list the routes. Normal busfare is 7 or 8 bt., less as a quarter.

Going out of BKK also wont save a penny-this big city is the big cheap bargain-pit-out of town anything tends to cost a little more. Its just that you have to learn how to find it.

As said-pretty good meals cost 30 bt (JPNese style more), you can get instant noodles for 13/12 bt in 7-11 (as numerous as watson in JPN), transport comes nearly free,. and WiFi also is about anywhere her and free-all public schools and parks [and thus the area round it) have it. Buy a waterbootle once-and refill it for 1 bt in the machines.

The idea that you have to walk with luggage every day is utter nonsense-you rent a room for as long as you like (may even be able to get a little discount for longer time and pay up front)-and most rooms you can lock with YOUR own padlock as additional safety=this also means there will be no roomservice.

Oh-forget about that silly idea of reservation-learn to think Thai style- the really cheap places dont do that and would also not be able to handle it. just come and see whats there. commit yourself for 1 night only-then decide day 2 if you move on or stay-while you look for a new room do NOT check out yet and leave luggage in room. Theft from rooms for dirty underwear is not the thing you need to fret about.

Frankly: this TV is NOT the right forum for this-those Barstool BS parrotting regulars only have their fieldday when someone like you turns up (I know-google on forum travel Thailand lists this-a wrong thing). Go to lonelyplanet.com/thorntree and there you meet bekpekkers in the same situtaion.

And as said-youre in a lucky position-those young JPnese really know how to survive the cheap way-and you can talk with them

The MAIN hazards in getting your wallet empty are the girls (they ll find you before you find them if youre a goodlooking and tipical not-knowing-this-world USA blondie) en drink-too-muth.

Change (assuming you have cash) not too much at airport-here also on KhaoSarn are a few private exchange boots that give better rates for cash (and cash only). Using an ATM will cost you an additional 150 THB=5US for any withdrawal. And the Japs outnumber the OZzies and USAers by the million-so the yen is widely accepted at any bank.

    Very well said!

Some of us need to be put back in place sometime….

Perhaps we can show some consideration to the OPP (FuninPlural) !!

Yes ... this TV are the right place for you, and some other boards are excellent as well.

To show you this board is genuine and restore the idea of mankind, I propose you a free meal in a good place around Khao San road, I think you may like a vegetarian restaurant like May Kaidee's or Chai & Louis

To see if I am kidding you, just message me for contact..

Cheers & have a nice trip

  9. i presume you should move your post to Real Estate, housing, house and land ownership

i got one five - six years ago, bought it at Homepro, the company came to install it,

i have doors (every time it is opening I get a sound bell)

    Sensors in the stair

    Control with mobile numbers calling

    Alarm box outside

    Remote control / wireless

Do not use the alarm a lot, but like the doors warning

just out of interest, the sensors in yr stairway, do they get tripped from geckos and the like?

The door warning is a interesting design

no, it do not trip, my dog can not trip it as well.

door is good, alert me if someone open it, got a nasty surprise one day! lost my Rolex and few valuables will i was in the shower.

the door close by itself now with a door hinge system, feel more secure, dog was not there at this time, got him later !

I think most of the thiefs are premeditated, they been here before or acquaintance been the place before.

the system i have is a Samisen USA system, must be more on the market

  11. Last time I flew to Thailand with Jetstar I swore I would never fly with them again - and haven't.

This time I booked a flight with Virgin from Brisbane. It only cost $400 and includes a transfer from Melb to Bris.

did you fly bangkok to brisbane ? did not see any virgin flight for this route.

    phuket to brisbane or perth

    brisbane to london

  12. I wish you good look.

But as told before. You need a good businessplan and good calculations.

May look for a cooperation with a cafe-companie other than Bon Cafe (may Lao, Vietnam, .. ?), then there are

a lot of Bon Cafe Shops around allready.

Vietnam coffee bean importer in Bangkok, WOW that interest me ... best coffee bean i purchase was in Vietnam.

Did Mr Somrak has more information regarding a Vietnam cafe-companie (company) here ?

  13. Here is the tariff from one of my link, presume must be similar at the airport.

    http://www.orientalescape.com/thailand/transfer/bangkok.html

Taxi around 320 baht with tollway include and 50 baht, some posters will said you do not need tollway at 2 am, off course they are right, living here we can argue when driver said meter not working, when the meter is riddle, when they take back street + let the driver stop somewhere on the way in some little soi, get lost and we do not worry .....I did get problems acr & driver from the official taxi stand !

For new comers if you feel more secure, take a limo

  14. lopburi3

Termites are a very serious problem here in Thailand. For that last 10 years we have used a spray firm that comes every other month and checks/sprays and have not had further problems. First visit will include drilling holes in cement floors to get under house and in ceilings but after that it becomes a find/destroy before they can establish themselves again. Cost per year is only about 6,000 baht or less so not a major expense.

    simcity

Idem for me, first three years i took one year contract, now i take a 3 years contract (bit cheaper) problem resolve !

termites i find start by soft wood, going into harder wood when soft wood supply gone.

    CS control i use

  15. Go to taxi meter stand ... in 11 years of living here never ever ever had a problem with that

Once with my aged mother, the taxi I took from the register (50 baht) stand said the meter was broken, I make him stop, we walk back to the stand, I told the story to the two ladies who was here, he got remove from the line and presume got few problems.

I still not 100% secure with a register taxi late at night, but after 12 years here, my Thai is ok enough for them to see I know the country, and i use my mobile phone calling my friend with his number as we drive away.

Once one taxi i took break down middle of the tool way, was not a good car.

For a new comer perhaps a limousine trip is more a smooth ride!
